[I originally wanted to become a poet, but I decided to become the terrible Demon-King in order to end the life of every living creature in my search for true beauty instead!]

Despair — Lost in its bleak depths, Swain, a young poet who is driven toward horrific power by the crushing circumstances of his life, takes on the spiritual and physical embodiment of the one-hundred year crisis, becoming the destructive, primal entity known only by the people in their hushed whispers as ‘The Demon-King’.

Obsessed with his new onslaught against the world to find the only thing worth existing for, the Demon-King casts the nation under his horrific dominion, killing tens of thousands in his quest to finally remove the stain of ugliness from existence and to find the thing that his heart yearns for now in this new life more than ever before, a thing that simply can’t exist in the physical world. It is a thing that lies deeper, far down below the physical realm, and to reach it, the tangible barriers of life, of cities, of nations, and of living, breathing beings all have to go, so that he can finally breach through to the spirit world that lies beyond the veil to find it — True, ephemeral beauty.

Even if millions of souls have to die in his pursuit.

The rpg elements in this are so out of place. It's a fantasy world, not a game, so what's with the status screens everyone sees but no one questions? The achievements are broken too. It's a great novel but without commiting to a game-element plot or a fantasy world plot the middle ground just feels like a crutch for the author to throw numbers at the reader.
Otherwise, a great story, romantic and vivid.

Razzmataz has a novel universe, all his novels happens in the same world in diferent eras (thats how i take it at least) little things are explained in diferent novels to paint a whole but all are standalone works.
Frankly this page does a disservice to this author, all those names, classes, stats in the original page is shown in a status screen with colors and a pristine attention to detail, parts need separation to keep the format of the work and has divider in there, lore in a scroll like screen and i really find the personality of his penmanship great.

I like the other core story this author wrote, but this one is just kinda mid.
MC forgets his reason for being super evil and just goes around killing people, bringing other insane people in to become murder monsters.

    It’s a little disappointing

Maybe it's just not for you? The novel is literally filled with philosophy about human vices and desires. The author really tried to reveal the ugliness of the human heart. This is definitely one of the best novels that have appeared here recently. About the fact that he is super-evil and forgot his goal, you probably read inattentively, because he literally asks this question to the demon cook...I think if the Demon King is too evil for you, it's better to read Japanese issekai, where Evil in the flesh relies on the power of friendship and unicorns on the rainbow to ensure world peace...
I really hate when a good novel sinks into bad reviews, but Cultivation online goes to the top
