An eternal prison, a soulless body, a sealed spirit, everything lost. To resign before merciless fate, or to become destiny! I lived in an illusion, I was lost, I could not find my home, I did not have a home… but why does it matter?! Between bowing to the threat of death and a spine that would never bend, I will choose the latter! Collapse

This is pretty good, I’d say it has the best story out of all of Er Gens novels (not including AWWP and the latest novel since I’m not done reading either). While the beginning 110 chapters may seem boring to some (I paused reading a few times but followed through), it has a lot of significance in later parts of the story, and it has a lot of foreshadowing in it. I’d say if you like Xianxia, a little Mystery, or any of this authors books, you would definitely enjoy it. But the ending is pretty confusing, (ENDING SPOILER->)
. On to AWWP now hokage

firstly, Murphys Law is the king in this. he can't and won't do anything about it, it doesn't matter how strong he is or how impossible that is; and 'convenience' is the major plot of the story

even when some plots are jerky, cheap, or simply trash, it'll happen just because. conversely, he went so far as to not care about some matters and "forgetting" his arts and artifacts useful for situation at hand just because it'd make the fight that much easier and or the event could be wrapped sooner. so many plots got abandoned, artifacts and arts got forgotten, forgiving others' debts and slights without reason, pulling so many punches early in the story and left so many loose ends later in the story

but despite that, Er Gen thought it's important enough to write

    10/10 won't recommend

the descriptions and dialogues are crazily exaggerated.

the translator has a strange fetish of needlessly adding emotional cheesified words into the narrative (gentle, caring, bashful, affection, and many other forms of bullshit)

i kid you not, here’s an excerpt: “The elder looked at Su Ming. The affection in his eyes was very strong, incredibly strong.”

this could have been written as “the elder looked at su ming kindly.”

here’s another one: how about the entirety of chapter 79?

a good story should have a good narrative. this story has a good plot but a bad narrative.

Dude..no, just, no. You are not the amazing writer, he is. You are just someone who writes lazily thought reviews. Keep them views to yourself and kindly never talk again.

One of the best Chinese novels I have read. Among the works of Er Gene, the Striving for Truth is in 1st place for me.
But if I didn't like the romance in Renegade Immortal, what I didn't like here was that the MC cries too much. I don’t know about you, but these moments really pissed me off. My rating is 5/5.

Oh it changed to Renegade Immortal, I was just wondering which Er Gen novel Saint’s confrontation was since iirc none of them are named that in the “official” translation of the names
