Then it got stuck on that event for too long. Then it had chapters long supporting chars storyline.
Then it got to the point where I'd just skim chapters, because the characters fail to hold my interest.

Civil service training or being an actual civil servant part would start in the 100s. MC is more of a secret service agent or a thief rather than a civil servant magic warrior. What happened to MC's wish for a peaceful and stable life as a civil servant? No semblance or any attempt of it yet.

This has the comedy tag, which kinda explains why he has some aversion and awkwardness towards his family, friends, and acquaintances.

Bad:

MC is a so-called genius magician but gets caught by the princes twice while he is stealing shit.
MC does stupid shit all the time that makes his situation worse.
He always says he wants a quiet life, but always gets involved in complicated situations.
The forty-year-old guy is so dense. He still doesn't know if a girl likes him or not.

Good:

The comedic relief. The jokes are funny.

This is utter garbage.
Ignoring the horrible start of 13 chapters of the MC running away, the plots are very forced. And an mc how is supposed to be "smart", he sure is dumb.
Mc puts himself in situations where he can easily avoid but does anyway because he can "run away" if the thing doesn't go his way.
