    TL;DR: Rather good novel, but has been on hiatus for a while now.

    Although it's been a few years since I read this and I don't think I would appreciate it as much if I were to read it again now, I do remember enjoying this back then and feeling as if I had found a gem within the pile of trash that webnovels/light novels are.
    There are certainly many things about it that I would personally change, mainly concerning character and plot, but it's writing quality is a definite step above most other novels that exist in similar genres.
    If my memory serves me correctly the translation is also of good quality from start to "finish". The novel is split into seperate volumes, and when a new volume comes out it is released in its entirety - not chapter-by-chapter.
    However, we have been waiting on the 6th volume for quite some time now and, as far as I know, there has been no news of when it will be released.
    p.s. This is the LN version of the story - there is also a WN version currently being translated (release rate 0.5/day) by the same team.

        This is the light novel version. It's released one volume at a time, like a published series, and, sofar, there are 5 volumes.
        The webnovel, on the other hand, is released one chapter at a time and the translation is still ongoing - at 1 chapter/2 days, so it'll take about 2 more years until it's complete.

            I won't spoil too much but the betrayal isn't from the MC or his relationships, just lots, LOTS of scheming. It's genuinely well-written and cohesive with small, minor conceptions. The protagonist himself is a scheming, calculative genius. Overall, a very well-written MC and in my opinion, of the best examples of how to write a cold-hearted/calculative MC who actually is smart (in the entire genre).
