Chapter 1722 Chapter 1715: Handling It

"How excessive!" Luo Ning exclaimed. How could a cultivation society that worshiped alchemists to such an unreasonable extent treat alchemists so viciously that they, or their entire lineage, could be thrown into slavery?

"The phrase: 'the winner becomes king, the loser becomes an outlaw' is exemplified perfectly here," Nepri softly remarked with a complex and somber facial expression. Unreasonable as the society might be, these were still accepted traditions by all.

"All things under the heavens have benefits and detriments; while the Utmost Purity Galaxy might be a safe haven for alchemists and a place of great legacy and knowledge toward the Alchemic Dao, it is capable of being the inverse, an absolute hellish experience with no path of redemption," Wei Wuyin commented.

The faces of the four Sages, Luo Ning, and Ming Shufeng turned solemn and dark, contemplating the profound truth within those words. White Sky, however, was living that truth. Without Wei Wuyin serving as an invisible support here and now, she may have broken down at the mere sight of the edict. Her return would have left her with an astonishing debt; the next few thousand years or longer might have been under strict enslavement.

If Wei Wuyin was unable to resolve this matter, her life would be a hellish one for a long, long while. Despite retaining a relatively stable heart and mind, it was drenched in despair. What did Azure Sea do? How could she let this happen?

The Dao Enforcer had explained the situation to the best of their knowledge, but there were noticeable gaps in their knowledge. For example, they didn't know the exact circumstances of the clash that occurred, the conditions to determine victory or defeat, or why the situation unfolded so soon after White Sky had made an urgent departure. Fortunately, Wei Wuyin didn't fault them for this.

They eventually entered the Tiny Heart Starfield. Wei Wuyin hadn't reactivated the Minor Elysium's formations or arrays. Despite his display of dominance and shift in dynamics, the Minor Elysium was an incoming prisoner's 'captured' vessel. So the Dao Enforcer was forced to drag the Minor Elysium along with their mystic power, carefully and without exerting the slightest trace of pressure to suppress the party.

They navigated around the makeshift docks that were asteroids that adhered to the free-floating continent's gravitational orbit, receiving numerous curious gazes from cultivators of all cultivation ranges. The glow of the Alchemic Edict instinctively generated reverence and fear within their hearts, including heaps of curiosity. Those with stronger cultivation had noticed the Stellar Transit Light's arrival and were even more baffled by the new group.

Fortunately, the Dao Enforcer's presence alongside the edict naturally warded off any wanton acts of curiosity such as sending their Spiritual Sense over to inspect those on board the Minor Elysium. Those with powerful Ocular Spells saw White Sky from afar, and this instantly produced a rumor mill of spiritual transmissions. By the time they reached the continent's atmospheric borders, countless voices discussed White Sky's appearance.

The downfall of the Sea & Sky Institute was juicy news, and the culture of information exchange within the Utmost Purity Mist was highly developed.

Nepit frowned and asked, "What's the Observing Chronicle?" She had heard some individuals speak about how the Observing Chronicle has been updated, discussing the various tiers they offered, including speculating White Sky's appearance, either its untimely nature filled with schadenfreude or interest.

White Sky coughed slightly, "It's a news outlet for the Utmost Purity Galaxy. It has a system of rapid dissemination of information spread across the galaxy through specially refined Spiritual Jades."

"News outlet?!" Ming Shufeng was stunned.

White Sky nodded, "It's run by Oracles. Specifically, only Oracles. They view events of the world, including speculating its veering trend by using fantastical descriptions that could snare one's intentions. There's also the Fortuitous Gazette run by Heavenly Seers and The Blessed Sentinel. The Fortuitous Gazette is a little strange, doing a little bit of everything, and isn't limited to the Utmost Purity Galaxy, but The Blessed Sentinel establishes all sorts of top lists for geniuses, beauties, heroes, and blessings across the galaxy."

Wei Wuyin nostalgically recalled the Immortal Saintess Rankings. At one point, Su Mei was also on that list. In fact, Na Xinyi, Wu Baozhai, Lin Xianxei, Yue Songli, and the sort-of late Tang Xingyun were all on that list, declared as Saintesses of their generations. He was presumed to be a ranker on the Immortal Hero Ranking and due to an underground bounty placed on their heads by Trueborn, he and Bai Lin were illegally detained and brought to the Shadow Egg. There, he met Yue Songli.

All those memories flushed through him as he contemplated whether he should establish a news outlet for his empire and how that would serve as a benefit or detriment to its development. He subconsciously rubbed his necklace as a pang of longing struck his heart.

Bai Lin…

Just as his thoughts were swerving away, the Dao Enforcer looked his way intently. Wei Wuyin realized they had paused just short of the atmospheric layer, and the Dao Enforcer seemed to be waiting despite holding the Alchemic Edict. Clearly, they were seeking permission to announce themselves. They didn't dare to send a spiritual message without Wei Wuyin's knowledge.

Wei Wuyin acknowledged and granted him permission with a slight incline of his head. Seeing this, the Dao Enforcer relaxed as he sent a Spiritual Transmission, and then openly announced: "By order of the Alchemic Edict, I've brought World-Saint White Sky to the Utmost Purity Hall to determine and settle her sentencing for violating the principles of our Alchemic Dao."

White Sky once again turned ghastly pale, but this time, a shade lighter and a degree sicker. It was difficult to salvage her emotional state.

"I love the distinction of using 'our' Alchemic Dao," Wei Wuyin commented lightly as he felt that the Seven Utmost Towers didn't act as divinities or apex authorities of the Alchemic Dao. It was a small matter of wording usage yet it showed their stance toward understanding that their rules and laws were their rules and laws for the Alchemic Dao.

Luo Ning smiled cheekily, holding her laughter after Wei Wuyin's light joke.

"?" Ming Shufeng was clueless about the joke and felt that Wei Wuyin's comment didn't have a much deeper meaning. Only established alchemists would understand.

The Dao Enforcer took a deep breath, looked toward Wei Wuyin, and calmly said: "I hope that you don't cause trouble here."

Wei Wuyin calmly smiled in response but said nothing. This only fueled the anxiety of the Dao Enforcer, and just as he was about to apologize for his words, a group of cultivators on a ship designed for planetary travel, a Skyship by the Ancient Sealed Regions standards, which was aligned in appearance with the sea-faring passenger vessel known by those of the Myriad Yore Continent as a Schooner, approached.

At the helm of the ship was a young, round-faced woman while a group of five others stood on the deck of various ages; the leader among them was a grey-haired elderly man dressed elegantly with a dignified expression. The elderly man was slightly hunch-backed, yet exuded a very highborn aura that felt exceedingly distant and lofty. This wasn't rampant arrogance but a core part of his nature etched into his very bones.

This was the World-Saint Dustpath, also known as Hao Chengxue, an established Worldly Saint Alchemist of the junior-tier. While his alchemical status equaled Azure Sea and was below White Sky, his alchemical authority was significantly higher due to his bestowed status as Hall Manager of this branch of the Utmost Purity Hall.

"Hall Manager Dustpath," the Dao Enforcer greeted respectfully.

Hao Chengxue acknowledged the Dao Enforcer with a nod. Then, he glanced at those on the Minor Elysium, and his pupils instantly contracted after he saw the calmly swinging Wei Wuyin, whose eyes were none other than displaying the Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity! What should have been a simple matter of enforcing rules was bound to get complicated by the passing second.

"Greetings. My name's Hao Chengxue—Dao name: Dustpath, the Manager of this Utmost Purity Hall. I hail from the Profound Mutation Lineage. How may I address you, Great Alchemist?" Hao Chengxue gave an alchemist's greeting to Wei Wuyin. If there was a level of respect, then the Dao Enforcer was two levels lower than the tone of Hao Chengxue's voice.

"Wei Wuyin of the Neo-Dawn Lineage—Dao name: Neo-Dawn," Wei Wuyin introduced himself, also signifying himself as the founder of his lineage.

'Neo-Dawn Lineage?' Hao Chengxue was unable to recall such a lineage, but he didn't dare to disrespect it. Instead, he said: "Ah! The Neo-Dawn Alchemical Lineage! I've heard some great things regarding such a prestigious lineage and your accomplishments in the Alchemic Dao. I wonder if they are as true as they are legendary?"

Luo Ning held her mounting urge to roll her eyes. But Wei Wuyin didn't mind Hao Chengxue's roundabout probing questions, and he didn't toss dirt in his face, answering as he'd done before.

"I've made modest achievements as a Worldly Saint Alchemist. Fortunately, out of sheer coincidental fortune and the guided blessing of the Alchemic Dao, I've touched upon the heavens' truths of the soul."

Those words caused not only Hao Chengxue but also the Dao Enforcer's eyes to violently constrict. While Wei Wuyin had changed some words to more aptly fit the location and person, he had said similar things to Violet Sea, and this was no less than an admission that Wei Wuyin could be considered a 'half-step' Heavenly Saint Alchemist!

Those behind Hao Chengxue immediately changed their thoughts. The indifference and coldness they had when looking upon the group of 'criminals' had been forcefully dispelled by those two sentences.

Not only were they shocked, but the four Sages were just as flabbergasted. They were aware that Wei Wuyin was at the Mystic Star Phase of the Mystic Ascendant Realm, the very first stage of the Mystic Dao's lofty path, after their irrefutable loss, yet they hadn't expected Wei Wuyin's accomplishments in the Alchemic Dao to rival or faintly exceed his combat and conquest achievements thus far.

If Wei Wuyin didn't have the Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity on full display, Hao Chengxue would have only taken it as outrageous bragging, but since Wei Wuyin had four Sages as his entourage, arrived by Stellar Transit Light, and threatened an Enlightened Sage-level Dao Enforcer, it was hard for anyone to refute his claims.

This meant that Wei Wuyin was at least an Exalted Worldly Saint Alchemist! That was already lofty enough. Of course, by Wei Wuyin's 'standards,' he had just only reached the Senior-tier as a Worldly Saint Alchemist.

"White Sky had heeded my orders, and due to that, she had inadvertently caused her force to suffer such a grave violation. This is something I take responsibility for, and I wish to seek a solution. Hall Manager Dustpath, can you assist me in this matter? I'll owe you a favor." Wei Wuyin explained with a smile, causing White Sky's heart to race. This was the most critical moment!

Normally, Hao Chengxue would have dismissed Wei Wuyin's words, detained them for interrogation, and then initiated relocation orders for White Sky to serve out her sentence with an apathetic wave of his sleeves. But Wei Wuyin's existence changed everything.

Moreover, a favor?!

He had to consider it. A promise like that carried the heaviness of a great mountain that could change a person's fate. Although Wei Wuyin was a foreigner and there was no news regarding his identity, those Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity could not be faked! And it was reasonable to think that White Sky, a Senior Worldly Saint Alchemist, has connections beyond the galaxy.

She must have sought out assistance after fleeing. This was his belief. And she was smart to do so!

He pondered briefly while rubbing his chin, "An Alchemic Edict issued isn't easily retracted and the conditions of the Swift Dao Clash that occurred leave very little room for maneuvering..." His words caused White Sky's heart to drop into an icy bath of despair. If she wasn't already an emotional bag of instability, she would have realized that those roundabout ways of speaking were not a clear no.

Wei Wuyin nodded, "I agree."

"...but," Hao Chengxue put on a cheerful smile, "we can extend the period for her arrest, and summon the Soothing Jade Institute for you to discuss changing the conditions before any irreversible decisions are made."

This was essentially an extension given. Those behind him were utterly shocked by his decision. When did the Utmost Purity Hall relent? They were simply too young and inexperienced. Hao Chengxue understood the importance of a favor from an Exalted Worldly Saint Alchemist more than anyone, especially one that had the confidence of reaching the legendary Heavenly Saint Alchemist level!

Even if one took ten thousand steps back, Wei Wuyin's cultivation was bound to be at or beyond a typical Supreme Sage. This matter on the Alchemic Dao front was already heavy, but offending someone who could wield or rally the external strength of a Supreme Sage was not worth it for a mere White Sky. It just wasn't.

"How about I send my Alchemic Knight and assistant over to fetch them alongside this loyal Dao Enforcer here? To quicken the time?" Wei Wuyin didn't want to waste much time or give the Soothing Jade Institute time to delay their summons.

Pakhet naturally exerted a faint golden aura of her strength, flowing with the Law of Metal, announcing her presence to Hao Chengxue. Luo Ning also revealed her Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence.

"Oh? Sage Pakhet of the No-Name Galaxy?" Immediately, Hao Chengxue noticed Pakhet. Then, he noticed the other three Sages, especially the heart-stopping, drop-dead gorgeous Imentet.

"Our galaxy no longer goes by that name. Our name is the Resolute Dusk Galaxy," Imentet beautifully smiled as she announced.

Within seconds, news began to travel across the various news outlets, especially the Fortuitous Gazette. Even Hao Chengxue received an alert from his spatial ring containing his spiritual tablets from all three sources as if confirming her words.

"..."

"I'll issue another Alchemic Edict then," Hao Chengxue didn't delay despite his shock. He executed a few hand-seals and brought out a jade bottle containing Utmost Purity Mist. With a pop, he opened the lid, and a surge of mist that contained the uniquely refined aura of the Imperial Law. Slowly, a much smaller edict formed, and a tenth of the mist within the bottle vanished.

He sent it respectfully over to the Dao Enforcer, who received it with both hands and kneeled to the edict, their head lowered.

"Have you observed the edict?" Hao Chengxue asked solemnly.

"I've observed the edict," the Dao Enforcer replied in a deep voice carrying immense weight and reverence.

Pakhet and Luo Ning flew off the Minor Elysium. Then, Wei Wuyin tossed over a small rainbow disk that exuded a luminous, warm light. Pakhet grabbed it and immediately understood how to use it.

She looked at the Dao Enforcer who was standing up, carrying another Alchemic Edict now. The orders within were an immediate summons of the Soothing Jade Institute's leadership.

"Shall the World-Saint Neo-Dawn wait in my hall? We can discuss the dao while we wait, enjoying great wine and each other's company," Hao Chengxue said smiling. He knew that traveling to and fro might take months, or even a year, depending on how they do so and navigate with their True Sage cultivation.

Wei Wuyin laughed, "No need. This shouldn't take longer than ten minutes."

"Ten minutes?" Hao Chengxue and the others were shocked. But then something unimaginable happened. The trio left the nearby restricted region in the blink of an eye. Pakhet then sent a wisp of her Spiritual Strength within the rainbow disk, and then she, Luo Ning, and the Dao Enforcer were immediately enveloped in Stellar Transit Light as they vanished!

"..." Hao Chengxue's jaw dropped.

Meanwhile, the spiritual tablets of the Observing Chronicle and Fortuitous Gazette began to release sonorous rings of alerts!

If once was an experiment, then twice was a guarantee!

Moreover, they saw the disk activate!

The Incandescent Star Palace had a mobile Star Bridge!!!

This was revolutionary!

After eight whole minutes, a single ray of rainbow light was rushing toward the Tiny Heart Starfield! They were back!!

I get where you're coming from, but I’d encourage you to look past the title and give the first few chapters a shot. Titles can sometimes be misleading or intentionally quirky, but the real magic lies in the content. Every story has its own rhythm, themes, and characters that can surprise you if you give them a chance.

Instead of judging solely based on the name, let’s see if the narrative resonates with you. You might find something unexpected and worthwhile within those pages that makes it all worth it. After all, it's the journey and the storytelling that really matter!🙏🏻👍🏻

Actually, when you think about it, there are way more extras in any given world than main characters. It makes sense that we’re starting to see more stories about them. The absence of these narratives until now is almost a sign that we’re missing out on rich, untold experiences.

Extras often have their own struggles, perspectives, and growth arcs that can be just as compelling as those of the main characters. So, exploring their stories could bring a fresh angle to familiar themes. It’s an opportunity to dive into the lives that usually go unnoticed and uncover the hidden depths of their journeys. Embracing these tales can open up a whole new realm of storytelling!

1729 Chapter 1722: The Red Dust Flows; Fourth Calamity (2)

With practiced etiquette, the youth with two distinctively unique pupils—a peerlessly sharp saber and an all-encompassing sunlit star—carefully cleaned up the table, doing so with diligence and movements that could inspire indescribable emotions, entirely unbefitting a five-year-old youth, as if this specific event, this specific activity was mentally executed an uncountable amount of times.

Each piece of tableware was emblazoned with marks representing the Red Dove City’s Wei Clan, and as they were collected, flashes of nostalgic emotions flickered within the youth’s uncommonly steady gaze.

The young man, beautiful woman, and middle-aged woman had long since left. An extraordinary impulse crashed into the youth’s mind repeatedly, insisting and luring him outside to follow.

    Needing him to follow.

The sounds of loud voices outside rang, indicating a great commotion was occurring, yet none of that moved the youth’s heart. Not even the faint, indistinct calls of his older brother were enough to do so. His mental fortitude prevented such indirect influence from affecting his heart or soul in the slightest.

This task wasn’t something he could ignore.

    Not again.

After cleaning and clearing the table, the youth deeply inhaled before exhaling a breath of turbid air laced with expelled regret that no longer existed.

To him, this moment happened over a century ago. To many cultivators, this degree of time was utterly insignificant, like a single day for a mortal, easily forgotten. But there were things where, even after an eternity had passed, the feeling would feel as recent as a mortal’s current exhaled breath.

The youth caressed the chair that sat the beautiful woman. Her face was hazy here, but in his soul, that visage of unsurpassed grace that no other woman could hope to match in his eyes was something that couldn’t be forgotten even if Hell succeeded in eradicating his existence.

She had asked him to clear the table all those years ago, yet despite being so young, the youth’s rebellious streak often reared its head, and he stubbornly refused. He had so stupidly refused!

But just as his father was about to deliver some old-fashioned teachings to the youth, she—his mother—started to convulse mid-sentence. And then… and then… when she opened her eyes, well and healthy, her eyes no longer contained the warmth that his mother had. She no longer had the faintest idea who she was or where she was.

He could still recall the feeling of his heart sinking as he tried to reach out with his tiny hands to the bottom of the coldest depths from a single sentence:

    “DON’T TOUCH ME!”

    That moment… changed… everything.

It spurred his father into desperation to find a solution to her condition, leading them out of that door, and then out of their lives—forever.

    “Chains of my past life;
    shackles of unknown future;
    Present is unchanged.”

The youth recited this poem that his older brother had taught him, repeating that it was often the mantra that he used to ease the difficulties of cultivation.

'The fourth calamity—The Pit of Mortal Despair,' the youth mused thoughtfully as his heart settled down.

'The faces are unclear, lacking soul and essence, yet the situation and circumstance blinds the eyes and fools the soul. To grant them their greatest wishes…'

In the vast world of cultivation, there was a universally recognized mental affliction referred to as mental demons. They affect the psyche, influencing one’s operation of mental energies, distorting memories, affecting decisions, and corroding the normally healthy psyche. If a mental demon entrenched itself deep enough in one’s heart and mind, Cultivation Deviation could occur as well as Cultivation Mutation.

The term 'demon' for beings born out of the Heavenly Phenomenon, the Soul Impartation of the Heavens, often generated a naturally occurring power that could influence mental, physical, and essence in strange ways, causing Cultivation Deviation and abnormal unpredictable mutations. Demons were referred to as such as a whole and viewed as vile beings because of this. They were even called the physical embodiment of mental demons.

Only by having a strong Heart of Cultivation and stronger mental strength can a cultivator dispel these mental demons or ward them off from occurring, staying true to themselves, and maintaining the stability of their psyche.

The fourth calamity, the Calamity of Mortal Despair, was the tribulation of mental demons. Throughout one’s whole life, especially for sentient and sapient creatures such as humans, beasts, etc., essentially, living beings with strong intelligence and control, were prone to making mistakes and continuously developing mental demons.

It could be something almost insignificant, such as peeing one’s bed until they were fifteen years of age, and if their society and culture saw this in a negative light, it would become a mental demon that could erupt off some light taunting or be called an incompetent child.

It could be something significant, such as watching your entire family die one by one to hunters, unable to stop them, and then surviving by sheer luck, constantly reminded that the ones responsible continued to breathe fresh air and live comfortable, unrepentant lives.

These things could distort otherwise normal personalities in ways akin to mutations. They can affect cultivation as well, both negatively and positively, largely dependent on the strength of one’s Heart of Cultivation.

'To twist past regrets into hope, radiant and pure.' The youth thought as he gazed at the opened door that pulsated with a beckoning power, urging him through.

In the eyes of others, this door led to an outside world, but to youth’s Celestial Eyes, it was red dust swirling chaotically like the walls of a hurricane. Currently, he sat at its center—the eye of the storm.

This calamity would be the youth’s hardest yet.

After all, was he not a cesspool of despair? If not for his Heart of Cultivation and willpower that had been repeatedly refined and tempered by so many tribulations, he wouldn’t be here. If not for his support, those who stood beside him, urging him to continue forward, would he still be here?

    Mei Mei.

Her words had saved his life after he claimed absolute brutal revenge, causing enough death to fill a cemetery and rivers of blood for everything he’d lost.

    Phantom Rogue.

If not for that Dark Cultivator’s valiant resistance against fate, using whatever means necessary, and failing despite struggling so deeply, would he not have conceded to his fate? The fate that mortals could never challenge the eighteen levels of Hell and possibly survive was crushed by that staunch will, reminding Wei Wuyin that he could never stop struggling, never stop fighting, and must always move forward.

    Always.

'Brother…' The youth hesitated as all those guiding memories that were as bright as the most brilliant light surged within his mind. While completing the task that his mother had said in another life was important to lift that burden on his heart, there was a hint of stalling. No matter how fake the world felt, how could he follow along to such depressing depths? Willingly sink further into this… reality.

    But he must.

The Calamity of Mortal Despair was not about seeing through the illusions, but experiencing it and resisting the despair. To live it.

    That reality.

With solid, firm steps, the youth exited the room to the outside as his Celestial Eyes receded in full force. Since he began cultivating this Spiritual Spell, his Celestial Eyes, something a part of ancestral lineage, he had never once deactivated its passive functions, especially the Gaze of the Celestial.

    “Past ties bind present;
    Will resets, mind resets, free;
    Future in my eye.”

The red dust formed objects, weather, and people that were as true as one could imagine. The youth felt the red dust enter his lungs, caressing his soul, attempting to adhere to it when despair was generated from its deepest depths, desiring to entrench itself within.

As long as he felt true despair, plunged into the darkest depths of that negative, irrevocable emotion, the red sand would gather onto his soul and body until the very end. Then, Soul Deterge Mist would descend in full, cleansing him of his memories and sense of self as if justifying such eradication of himself.

But for those like him, Inheritors of Sin, if their souls and bodies could not withstand such forceful cleansing, they would vanish entirely—body, soul, and existence.

    There was no afterlife.

    There was no samsara.

This was it. Their final fight.

    And he refused to lose.

    “Little Wei! Come here!”

The voice of that steady, strong, masculine voice that was unmistakable to the youth, belonging to none other than his father, resounded out with authority.

Wei Wuyin reaffirmed his heart as the throbbing of his grey, draconic heart warmed his body, his two pupils and the mark on his glabella released gentle glows of light.

    Today—he will not despair.

    No, today—they will not despair.

    1727 Chapter 1720: Fourth Calamity
    Commences!

    "He's back!"

    "Who's back?"

    "HE'S RETURNED!!"

    "WHO?!"

    "THE SINFUL PRIDE MORTAL!!!"

The depths of Hell clamored with activity, each of its four corners rumbling as figures shuttled through dimensional hellscapes of unimaginable horrors to reach a very specific location. Recently, the unfathomable levels of Hell were stirred by unusual activity.

A while ago, a mortal soul with his physical body, an Inheritor of Sin, had descended to face Hell's eighteen cleansing dimensions as many others had done before him, and beyond the expectations of beings that were as grand as divinities and unique as devils, he not only survived but repeatedly conquered them. How could such a hell-defying existence not attract attention from its denizens?

The Mortal Abandonment Dimension, Regretful Heart Dimension, and the Agonized Road Dimension!

Three of eighteen great cleansing Calamities of Hell had been conquered under his feet, and each time was more and more extraordinary, especially the Sinful Pride Mortal's third calamity—Calamity of Blade and Fire. This was the one Calamity that a mortal should absolutely never succeed. The denizens of Hell had unanimously determined that his travels here as a mere mortal were going to end here beyond the shadow of a devil's doubt!

Their interest waned; when they learned that he had arrived significantly earlier than expected, they didn't even bother making their way over. Why? Only those who were invested from the very beginning, since his hellish path started, decided to observe despite the inconvenience.

Yet their pessimistic expectations were surpassed! Again! And again!

This Sinful Pride Mortal hadn't just survived this brutal road of 108,000,000 steps, he claimed the Agonized Road Dimension!

However, looking back, how he claimed it was unprecedented and unique for a mere mortal! A display of supreme will! Why exactly? Despite traveling the full road, not a single ounce of Soul Deterge Mist had been burned the entire 108,000,000 steps! Not a single wisp!

Soul Deterge Mist was the cleansing power of Hell, and the rules of the agonized road produced this cleansing force if soul-deep pain were felt from either its hot flames or sharp blade, and that was if the ever-strengthening blade didn't slice the sin and consciousness out of a soul or the fires didn't incinerate them beforehand, immediately ending the calamity as they were shuttled to the cycle of samsara.

Ultimately, the shocking development of his success caused a frenzy that was as unexpected as hell freezing over and all its unimaginable horrors within were changed to heavenly fortune and blissful comforts overnight! That wasn't all either; to the two existences that oversaw the higher floors of Hell, they discovered that this Sinful Pride Mortal had returned to challenge the three calamities back-to-back as a Sinful Lust Mortal!

They had originally thought that Wei Wuyin was undergoing an unprecedented descent into Hell's Calamity, rushing to the Red Dust Dimension, the fourth Calamity of Hell, but disregarding their feelings of rising excitement, the Dual Sinful Mortal had left and didn't challenge the fourth calamity…

Prior to arriving at the Red Dust Dimension's region, they had alerted denizens far and busy, causing Hell to suffer a brief stagnation as numerous existences rushed over with the desire to witness the expected downfall or shocking conquest of this highly abnormal mortal.

Since then, they had tasked some denizens to observe the fourth Calamity, to send an alert when, not if, that mortal challenged the Red Dust Dimension! Numerous denizens of Hell were mobilizing!

    -----

    Hell.

    Fourth Floor of Hell.

    The Calamity of Mortal Despair.

Here, two winged figures stood a fair distance from each other. They were not silver-winged or crimson-winged, nor exuded an irredeemable malevolence or an all-forgiving holy aura. They were emerald-winged and azure-winged figures, the former of the duo exuded an unfathomable depth resembling deathly despair while the latter emitted an endless vibrance of exuberant, inextinguishable life.

"Hm? They've sent out the alert," the emerald-winged figure spoke lightly, yet their voice was incredibly deep and sonorous with heavy bass. Its wings, which were full in shape and life, flapped slightly as if to catch the attention of its partner.

A shrill voice resounded that could grate one's ears, "I know!" Its azure wings resembled shriveled skin, as if each surface of flesh was dipped into water for a natural period of time, a little discomforting to observe, yet the gentle glow of life that could calm the most restless heart and bring hope to a soul on the verge of death was boundlessly remarkable.

The two of them had watched the Sinful Pride Mortal's last struggle against Hell with raging hearts and shocked minds. Watching that mortal fight to survive was wondrous to an indescribable extreme, unable to be put accurately in words. Already, there were skeptics and believers of his future. They either believed that his luck would eventually run out or that his brilliance was unable to be smothered by any of Hell's challenges. Of course, there was a third group that was watching simply to be involved, and they amounted to the majority of spectators, not too invested in his success or failure.

    WHOOSH!

    WHOOSH!

From an indeterminate direction after traveling an unknowable distance, two orbs arrived. When the light enveloping their bodies dispersed, it exposed their silver-winged and the other crimson-winged figures for all to see. They seemed to be anxious as they scoured for a particular spherical orb containing the next hellscape.

The azure-winged figure indifferently glanced their way, "Your favorite mortal is right there." There was a tinge of amused mockery within its voice. Only those like him knew how ridiculous it was for mortals to receive such attention from existences like them.

"The Calamity of Mortal Despair hasn't started yet," the emerald-winged figure stated excitedly. It pointed at a specific spherical orb within the uncountable sea of others. Then, the emerald-winged figure 'looked up' at the looming shadow with infinite arms, infinite eyes, and infinite vastness that stretched across Hell as if overseeing all of it all at once.

Before the emerald-winged figure could speak, dozens of orbs of varying colors arrived from all over, each from an indeterminate direction from an unknowable distance. They all transformed into winged figures of varying colors and auras, each more stranger than the next. Including a fiery red-winged figure that burned intensely, yet emitted not an ounce of heat, only an extreme frigid chill that could freeze the soul, life, and time.

Beside that fiery red-winged figure was a winged figure that resembled sentient ice, but exuded the fiercest of heat that distorted the air and sought to burn all of creation. There were all sorts, and their numbers kept increasing.

    They were all spectators!

Seeking front-row seats to the upcoming event! The show in question?

The Sinful Pride Mortal's Life OR Death!

If Wei Wuyin knew of this, he would try to exploit this situation, seeking payment for the right to see him challenge every calamity. That would leave him with an inestimable amount of wealth! Unfortunately…

"Wait—" A white-winged figure that resembled smooth, pure, untainted jade yet exuding an aura of turbidity amidst the stench of filth said with the voice of a heavy smoker, whose lungs were as dark as scorched coal. They pointed at the spherical orb containing the Red Dust Dimension. "That isn't the Sinful Pride Mortal."

Their words caused several winged figures who had rushed over in a wild frenzy to stare at the Red Dust Dimension's orb, sensing the sinful aura of the individual within.

"Huh?" Quite a few were startled. The aura of an Inheritor of Sin, each of them, was unmistakable. But this aura wasn't exactly pride. In fact, it didn't fit either of the seven sins they knew of. Moreover, this soul had ascended on an existential level. While it wasn't at the typical and familiar Realm of Sages, the soul was still in a higher state of existence than a mere mortal. Was a mistake made?

They couldn't help but recall earlier when the silver-winged and crimson-winged figure had rushed to the Fourth Floor of Hell with an alert of an upcoming challenge but were met with waiting and finding nothing. Fury boiled within quite a few of their hearts.

However, the silver-winged figure coldly snorted.

"Ignorant!" The voice that was as sinister as a devil's greatest advocate resounded, and all eyes turned toward them, hostility brimmed to its limits. "Heh! What?! The truth hurts!"

The crimson-winged figure sighed, "That is indeed our Sinful Pride Mortal, but did you all think that we were so bored that we would follow an ordinary mortal? Not too long ago, he descended not as a Sinful Pride Mortal, but a Sinful Lust Mortal!"

"A Dual Sinful Mortal?" A sky blue-winged figure that seemed to be formed of sky-blue clouds exclaimed. With every movement of their floaty, seemingly weightless body, an immensely weighty force that could crush souls with a twitch of their fingertips was repeatedly unleashed. The winged figures gave them a wild berth, unwilling to be dragged into the gravitational pull of its undefined mass.

"Impossible!" The white-winged form of pure jade shouted in denial. While it was reasonable to believe that a mortal had succeeded in the Inheritor of Sin's trials once, but twice, and of two different sins such as Lust and Pride? Who did this person think they were, a descendant of the First Sinner?!

However, everyone ignored their protest. The silver-winged figure spoke with each syllable carrying greater joy than the last:

"Not only did he become a Dual Sinful Mortal by the most natural means, but this mortal had conquered the other three dimensions by their lonesome yet again! I speculate that what should have been an impossible dimension for them to overcome will be far too easy! In fact, he has the chance of conquering all eighteen Hells!"

    "..."

    "..."

    "..."

After a short while, all except the crimson-winged and silver-winged figures laughed in their heavy disconcerting cacophony of unique voices. Their laughter was loud and true, unable to hide their truest thoughts. Even those who were hopeful of Wei Wuyin's success were unable to delude themselves. While the feats of this Dual Sinful Pride were astonishing, the fourth Calamity, the Calamity of Mortal Despair, isn't something that an existence could hope to survive! Especially not a mortal! And while Wei Wuyin's soul had ascended, in their eyes, he was still a mortal!

There were only two distinctions in their eyes—Mortal and Immortal!

What segue between them? What Ascended being? Just a bridge that countless failed to overcome.

    Conquer the eighteen Hells?

    Laughable.

"Then…how about…" the crimson-winged figure slowly said, "we be—"

A booming, omnipotent voice thundered out, causing every winged figure to tremble violently.

"Karmic ties MUST NOT be formed!"

The looming shadow spoke with unquestionable authority, and the winged figures all went silent, some glaring at the crimson-winged figure who was smiling, having achieved his goal of shutting them up with a few words.

But the way they looked at the spherical orb had all changed. The looming shadow refusing to permit a karmic tie wasn't unexpected as it involved not just Wei Wuyin as a few of them had done before, but the eighteen calamities of Hell. For them to form a karmic tie, obviously through linking fortune and misfortune in the way of a bet or wager against this Dual Sinful Mortal then…was it possible that he could be a genuine contender where even considering the mere possibility was forbidden…?

    No. No. No.

    That was impossible.

    Completely impossible!

"Let's just watch this mortal die," a dark red-winged figure that resembled earthy rock with jagged points that defined its limbs and facial features. They gave off an aura of true weightlessness, almost non-existent in presence, resembling a fleeting thought or floaty, temporary clouds.

    Watch this mortal die!

    Let's!

"The Calamity of Mortal Despair is initiating." A voice of indifference and remarkably leveled cadence, deeply mechanical, resounded throughout the fourth floor of Hell!

1728 Chapter 1721: The Red Dust Flows; Fourth Calamity (1)

      Chirp~! Chirp~!
The melodious sound of birds rang beautifully through the sunny, slightly clouded morning. A crisp, refreshing wind flowed through a certain grassy plain, caressing the landscape like a gentle lover, causing the branches and leaves of trees to dance excitedly about, celebrating the end of an old dusk, and inevitably welcoming the fresh start of a beautiful dawn.

Early in this new day, sitting atop a short boulder with its top half sliced clean off, the surface unnaturally smooth like glass, was a young, bright-eyed youth in moon-white robes with dark hair, immaculate skin, and a round face, the last remnants of his baby fat-filled face fading naturally with time. At his glabella was a tiny birthmark, a tree with seven different colored branches and seven different colored roots, its leaves constructing its crown were glistening with silver, and those roots enveloped a white sphere.

Those bright eyes contained the innocence of youth, the blissful ignorance of life, and untainted by hardship or struggle. Happiness could be found within. The youth's eyes were unordinary; the left's eye pupil was shaped like a sunlit star, swirling with solar rays, while the right eye's pupil was shaped like a saber, its edge unimaginably sharp.

The youth, no more than three years old, playfully swung his legs back and forth. That unique pair of eyes were affixed to a tall, upright, and motionless figure. It was a young man, eyes closed, and breathing following the purest rhythm of one's soul. The young man exuded the steadiness akin to a great mountain, unshakeable and unrepentant of its growth or purpose. The mere sight was inspiring, needing no further explanation.

That young man was in an upright standing stance, their right hand was placed firmly on a hilt connected to a black scabbard, almost as if they were ready to draw out whatever that was within with a single thought. The wind blew from afar, causing their hair and robes to flutter gracefully.

After what could be described to some as an eternity, or to others as a single instant, the tall, steady young man removed his grip from his hilt, not drawing out whatever it contained. At that exact moment, the wind shifted, spiraling downwards toward the young man's feet, as if it was bowing reverence at being spared.

The sight was unforgettable. The timing—perfect.

"Do you understand?" The young man opened his eyes, exposing a pair of dark eyes that were suffused with the strength of ambition, wisdom far beyond his years, and gentle warmth that was alluring to spirits and mortals alike.

The youth smiled, their legs stopped swinging as they took a breath and exhaled sharply. Then, with a soft hum, nodded strongly.

The young man revealed a small smile, "Then, explain it to me. What did you witness just now?"

The youth stared at the young man intensely as if wishing to brand their very image into their unique pupils.

"Restraint begets respect; only with purpose as clear as the rays of the stars shining from above, as keenly felt as the graceful wind of the clouds, as known as the sound of your beating heart rising to your ears can you draw your saber." The voice of the youth was as clear as the star in the sky.

The young man's eyes glowed profoundly.

"Haha! Your memory is as good as always! What a smart little brother I have, huh?" He walked over, rubbing the youth's head with a hearty chuckle exposing every ounce of pride he felt.

The youth couldn't contain their smile, exposing the largest grin, "I am smart, aren't I? Hehe." The sight of the two could inspire a supreme poet for a thousand lines, and then with greater inspiration, a thousand more.

The scene froze; the wind froze; the young man froze; the rays of solar light froze. Only the youth with two unique pupils was unaffected.

The youth's eyes affixed to the facial features of the young man, an abrupt surge of irresistible wetness swelled within his two eyes. They were none other than the unshed tears of pure joy.

"How great would it be if you were real?" The youth muttered.

The words elicited an abrupt, unexpected change as the ground, grass, boulder, trees, and the sky became red as blood, slowly transforming into dust that swirled in all directions. Slowly, the dust became a red flood that drowned the two figures entirely.

The youth held tightly to the hand that was rubbing his head, the fingers of his hands trembling with unwillingness.

      "I remember, brother…I'll always remember."

Unfortunately, with all of the youth's power cultivated to an extreme within an awe-inspiringly short period of time, this domain of authority was something he'd yet to grasp. The young man's body began to crumble, the smile still bright and proud, and their face fixed in a chuckle of joy and satisfaction. They crumbled away into red dust.

Sitting amidst the swirling typhoon of red dust, the youth quietly waited as the dust proceeded to restructure an entirely new world.

"The Red Dust—said to embody, contain, and follow the essence of a mortal's life. It represents all the facets of everyday life," the youth gradually grew from a three-year-old to a five-year-old child, causing their attire to change to fit their growing body, retaining that moon-white color.

He sat at a square table, set only for four, and only four sat. They included a middle-aged man with a hearty aura, eating with great relish. There was no head seat, yet the middle-aged man naturally took the spot as the leader. The young man from earlier was also there, eating just as excitedly as the middle-aged man he held a great, undeniable resemblance.

Sitting across from the youth, a smiling woman blessed with otherworldly beauty, much of her world-shocking looks were inherited by the youth, but as he grew older, his masculine features would eventually come in and create an unearthly visage that could mesmerize divinities and devils alike.

"Eat," she mouthed with a smile, gesturing with her chopsticks before indulging. Her manner of eating wasn't anything less as vivacious as the others.

Witnessing this, the youth nodded with an assenting hum. The family of four ate a meal set for a family of twelve, and they did so with ease.

The youth's fingers trembled slightly as the melodious voice of the woman kept resounding in his heart. A single word yet it felt as refreshing as a cool glass of water after trekking a hot, steamy dessert for a hundred years.

      The youth remembered this day.
      It was that day.

After they finished eating, patting his large belly, the middle-aged man exclaimed triumphantly as if defeating an army of a thousand. The young man followed suit, just a few seconds behind finishing, having lost the invisible battle between the younger and older generations. But those eyes of his remained staunch and resolved to win the next time.

The beautiful woman chuckled as she neatly organized her utensils. A habit of etiquette that never faded, no matter how much her memory had in recent years.

The youth did the same, instinctively but willingly.

"I have some news," the middle-aged man took a deep breath and said, causing the cheerful atmosphere to grow unknowingly tense. The smile of the beautiful woman faded little by little.

"What is it, Father?" The young man asked, as if ready to tackle any issue with a saber in hand, and if it didn't require a saber, his words were elegant enough to remedy many situations. The tongue was just a fleshy saber in his mind.

"I've decided that—" the middle-aged man began.

The youth's gaze remained fixed on the beautiful woman. Today was the day that he dreaded the most. While there were no horrific events within, no deaths or pain, this single moment, just before those words were spoken, was a recurring nightmare that would also wake him. It was more painful than losing his home.

The day the decision was made that would make him lose half his family.

"LORD WEI! LORD WEI!" A set of hurried, urgent footsteps rushed could be heard from outside. The youth's eyes shone with an unexpected light of surprise.

A man who was rather slender, dressed in clothes typically of a servant, opened the door with unnatural strength, intruding on the family's mealtime, yet the middle-aged man didn't rebuke him for his rudeness.

      "What is it?"

"Lord Wei!" The man cried as he tried to catch his breath with some heavy inhales and exhales, sweat dropped down from their foreheads, and their fingers gripping the door were trembling. Trembling excitedly!

"The Great Sage of Medicine from the Capital, Sage Xiaotian, has arrived!"

"Sage Xiaotian?!" The middle-aged man rose in disbelief, shock, and happiness rising by the second on his expression. He looked at the beautiful woman with a smile, "She came!"

The beautiful woman was similarly wide-eyed, surprised by this development. The capital actually sent their greatest Medicinal Sage? The same capital that had Mortal Gods that could defy natural and upend creation? It was said that Sage Xiaotian was heaven's miracle, capable of saving or solving all alignments with her divine abilities and knowledge.

      The young man's eyes brightened.

"Father!" He shouted as if to remind the middle-aged man of his duties. This was critical. They couldn't show any sign of disrespect!

The middle-aged man broke out of his stupor, and hope flooded his very being as he hurriedly wiped his face. The beautiful woman assisted him in a natural manner, straightening out his collar with remarkable speed and practice, and then smiled. It was a smile that calmed every tense and nervous emotion within the middle-aged man's body, fueling him with energy and confidence.

"Let's go!" The middle-aged man exclaimed.

The beautiful woman nodded, giving the youth and young man a smile that contained a reminder to be on their best behavior.

The youth with two strange pupils nodded, rising from his seat and looking at the sweating servant. The family of four hurriedly left to greet this Sage Xiaotian, all with the hopes of solving their family's greatest crisis.

"What a sinister, cruel design," the youth muttered, remembering a single line given to him by that woman of great determination and greater willpower:

"The red dust flows into the direction most wanted."

1725 Chapter 1718: Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement! Unprecedented Pill!

Back in the Ancient Sealed Regions, the Echoing Stars of Vastness Pill had a rather complicated, dark, and bloody history marred in mystery and death. It was originally pioneered within the Ancient Sealed Regions by a founder of the Seven Sages Tower, the same founder in recorded history that was said to be the first to have comprehended Elemental Origin Intent.

It was the source of the Dark Stars Era and caused great catastrophe amongst the populace as Solar Stars were stolen or claimed by ambitious cultivators seeking greater, unfathomable heights and firmer, unmatched foundations incomparable to the past.

    It was achieved.

The lives of trillions upon trillions were traded for a greater cultivation society as those ambitious fellows established foundations that granted them qualifications to enter the Mystic Ascendant Realm. The greater portion of the Ancient Sealed Regions was brought to utter ruin as the sole remaining and healthy stellar region, the Grand Cyclic Stellar Region, remained as the central gathering location for cultivators.

That dark era caused a severe depletion of natural Solar Stars, and that greatly affected the future potential of the Ancient Sealed Regions, preventing those extremely talented cultivators from establishing a complete foundation before ascending into the Mystic Ascendant Realm. The lack of a World-Bound Star Domain was too impactful, and the consequence of such hasty, self-destructive, short-term decisions had been felt throughout history.

While ignorant of that history, Mei Xiangyao had accurately warned of the severe consequences of it being left unchecked for a cultivation society. But while she was ignorant of its historical direction, she had mentioned something that made Wei Wuyin rather thoughtful and briefly dazed—the tactic of introducing this pill into a cultivation society was often used in games of Mystics…

"The Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill!"

Mei Xiangyao's Dao Protector, the short and sturdy-looking Mystic Overlord, exclaimed loudly without caring for his image, genuinely unable to contain his surprise. The sight startled White Sky, who was listening attentively to what Mei Xiangyao would request from Wei Wuyin.

Everyone's gaze fell on the short Dao Protector. Then, and only then, did the Dao Protector realize that their current response was a little too excited. Seeing this, he coughed awkwardly and explained his disturbance of mind:

"The Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill isn't an ordinary pill by any means. I was lucky enough to obtain a chance to enter the Primeval Athenaeum during my youth, long before I met you, Lady Mei. There, I chanced upon a scroll blessed by an Enlightened Scholar that described the pill and its effects.

"Within its contents were mentions of an apex pill for refinement of one's foundation. However, the pill described then was not Mystic-World, but the Mystic-Soul, yet it had the same name!"

The short Dao Protector's every word drew further curiosity and then, at the end, caused the faces of each one here to undergo drastic changes! Wei Wuyin was among them!

The Mystic-Rank Alchemical Products were divided into four categorical stages: Mystic-Earth, Mystic-World, Mystic-Heaven, and Mystic-Soul; each stage was said to encapsulate a profound portion of the Mystic Dao, and with the first-half determining the foundation for the Mystic Dao and the second-half determining the path to Immortal Ascension by connecting Mysticism with Eternity.

At least, that was the simplest understanding. In terms of the Alchemic Dao itself, Mystic-Earth grade products were designed to cater to the needs and opportunities that could be grasped by Venerables, Highlords, and Rune Kings, while Mystic-World grade products contained profound effects for World Emperors, Original Magistrates, Mystic Overlords, and Sages. These two grades oversaw the Mystic Ascendant Realm, while the two abnormal stages—the Mystic Star Phase that contained the last vestiges of the Mortal Dao's influence and the True Soul Stage that touched the next realm—were excluded due to their uniqueness, often lacking qualities of the purest Mystic Dao.

The Mystic-Heaven and Mystic-Soul, if Wei Wuyin had to guess, were divided in half with each being relevant to the respective powers of a Superior Sage, Cardinal Sage, and Prime Sage. While uncertain, the fact that Mystic-Heaven's Soul Pill granted a blessed opportunity to ascend into the Resonant Soul Realm was very telling.

Pakhet chimed in solemnly, "It's not strange for products to have lesser derivatives." She wasn't a full-blown alchemist, but she dabbled in the arts to test her aptitude early on. Unfortunately, she wasn't very gifted, and her most suitable path was not to become an alchemist.

"But of the same name?" The Dao Protector questioned. Pakhet immediately went silent. It was unheard of for two products to have the same name, but who's to say that the concoction method that Mei Xiangyao's subordinate had found was the legitimate Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement? Who's to say that the scroll was correct in its original grade?

"What about a variable concoction recipe?" Luo Ning initially wasn't going to speak, but her thoughts couldn't be contained. A Variable Concoction Recipe was a specific, multi-graded recipe of the same pill designed to deliberately be lesser with the same grade. It wasn't unknown. In fact, there was one known throughout every civilization with the Alchemic Dao—Essence Pills.

White Sky shook her head, "I can understand why you'd have that assumption, but Essence Pills require consistent materials with no additional changes. Moreover, if it was as you say, how could the Echoing Stars of Vastness Pill exist? Taking a step back, something that cultivated the foundation of each stage of the Mystic Ascendant Realm, exceeding its defined grade, would require vastly different materials. Unlike the Essence Pill whose materials are anything with essence and energy, the concoction method for it was exactly the same from the first-grade of the mortal-rank to the Mystic-Heaven grade, exemplifying simplicity. Furthermore, it doesn't require any specific spell or art to concoct."

White Sky spewed out an entire list of reasons why the Essence Pill and the Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill couldn't be remotely the same.

Eventually, Mei Xiangyao was confused as well. The Primeval Athenaeum was a legendary library that only those under the age of 1,500, the average limit of a mortal's lifespan, could enter that carried the deepest, purest, and untainted history of the Utmost Purity Galaxy and its neighbors. However, knowledge there required extensive effort and sufficient cost to obtain. There were rumors that it was built by an ancient power of chroniclers tasked with keeping history alive and true.

Its location was not fixed, but when it showed itself, all the galaxies would be alerted.

No one could explain what this library was, but it was said to contain answers to anything that happened 1,500 years in the past or further since its appearance, regardless of who or what it was about.

For the short Dao Protector to have an opportunity to enter, and even read about that specific pill, Wei Wuyin was no fool.

This was the deep schemes and nigh-unfathomable machinations of the Heavenly Daos!

While he had long since bottomed out in Karmic Luck Value and was no longer receiving any stinging clues or mental hints, he was fully aware that White Sky was a karmic encounter for a Blessed or potentially, an Empyrean! Despite losing his karmic luck, he still possessed the black and gold tattoo signifying his status as an Empyrean.

When he considered this from that point of view, he knew that sparing White Sky was simply a segue to meeting Mei Xiangyao. Given that White Sky was complicit in Enlightened Sage Springfield's antics of defying the Heavenly Daos' commandments, avoiding the accruing of sin, but still an accomplice, the Heavenly Daos were not going to ignore her hand and intended to use her.

Whose opportunity was this? Tian Xiaolu? Or perhaps…

    Someone else?

Wei Wuyin could have obtained this opportunity in many ways, either by delivering White Sky to complete her sentence of enslavement, forming a connection with Mei Xiangyao, or using force by challenging Mei Xiangyao in an Alchemic Clash, which was his plan b, and overturning her punishment then. If so, Mei Xiangyao may or may not have come to her himself, offering the product for an exchange to reach a higher tier of the Alchemic Dao or to advance her cultivation base.

There was even a possibility that he could have seduced her, relying on his innate charm of lust and looks to seize her heart completely, especially considering that, from their first interaction, Wei Wuyin did not doubt that he could pull this married woman into his bed with a few select words with every ounce of willingness in her bones.

After some thought, Wei Wuyin had already figured that this product was most certainly a piece that would eventually lead to the true Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill that was Mystic-Soul grade, and this was the first step, but the amount of Karmic Luck Value deducted initially wasn't enough for a Mystic-Soul grade Concoction Method. He was certain of that.

"Let's see it," Wei Wuyin didn't argue what it could be and directly asked to view it. Even Mei Xiangyao was doubtful whether the concoction method was legitimate or not. Her Dao Protector had whittled her desire to negotiate conditions to view, not wanting to look too foolish by asking for too much. Moreover, she just needed to give the contents of the recipe, not the entire Concoction Method.

And as Wei Wuyin had expected, when Mei Xiangyao brought out the ancient animal skin page that had the written contents, it was indeed consistent with a Mystic-World grade product. It was unknown whether it was designed to be concocted into a pill, potion (elixir), pellet, or paste with the basis of the seven aspects of concoction usually listed in the method.

    Mei Xiangyao blinked anxiously.

Everyone couldn't help but look. White Sky could tell too that it was a Mystic-World grade product based on the materials. For example, it required several well-known Mystic-World graded materials, even a leaf of a Soul-Bound Flower or an entire Spirit-Bound Flower was listed alongside nine drops of condensed Heaven's Essence Liquid.

Heaven's Essence Liquid was exceedingly difficult to procure, mostly because it could take a Heavenly Saint Phase cultivator, an Original Magistrate, roughly ten thousand years to condense a single drop, and that was often used for high-tier Mystic-World grade products. It could also be extracted from an Edict Seed.

Those weren't even the core material! A Colossal 'natural-born' and 'naturally grown' Solar Star was required. Moreover, it had to be refined by the Nine Ways of Mysticism, a genuine Mystic Star! And that was a feat only achievable by a Mystic Overlord or dozens of Original Magistrates.

They were absurdly, ridiculously, stupendously rare! Moreover, you needed one just for a single attempt. FOR EACH ATTEMPT!

Pakhet's expression turned ugly as her eyes shifted to Wei Wuyin's thoughtful figure.

If a cultivation society were to learn of this that was as advanced as the Resolute Dusk Galaxy, which had Solar Stars that met that condition, hence why it had such egregious levels of resources, the galaxy could fall apart. At the very least, if Wei Wuyin decided to wantonly use those stars, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that the Resolute Dusk Galaxy would lose 60% of its resource generation. While they had the power to prevent a death calamity of epic proportions via mass relocation, the future of their youths would experience an extreme decline.

It was just a recipe, but just like the Echoing Stars of Vastness Pill, Pakhet and everyone here could tell that even an impure-quality product would produce an unfathomable benefit to one's cultivated foundation that could be equivalent to ten thousand years of cultivation for a Sage.

    This wasn't to be underestimated!

"I won't," Wei Wuyin softly said those two words.

Pakhet's heart, which was violently squeezing with worry, inexplicably relaxed. Those two words were enough for her to throw away all her worries. Mostly because she was Wei Wuyin's Alchemic Knight; he had no reason to lie to her.

"It seems like it could be the pill…" White Sky knew the recipe of the Echoing Stars of Vastness Pill and felt that this recipe aligned well. It might be the legendary Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement.

Wei Wuyin's Alchemic Stars gazed intently at the recipe. His expression turned strange. The shift caught everyone's eye.

"What is it?" Mei Xiangyao was besieged by worry.

"The Alchemic Stars can glimpse into certain details of the Alchemic Dao, one of these abilities includes knowing the name of a product's legacy name with a single glance," Wei Wuyin said. This was also how the King of Everlore grasped his product names later, not daring to place his 'Ever' prefix despite pioneering the product.

Mei Xiangyao knew this ability; they all did, but she hadn't grasped the Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence yet. This wasn't an embarrassing matter either, even if Luo Ning, a Junior Earthly Saint Alchemist, had achieved it before her. Because Luo Ning had Wei Wuyin AND an Alchemic Soul.

Her Alchemic Stars of Mortal Spirituality was only effective on Mortal-Rank Alchemical Products. She hadn't dared to show anyone else the recipe yet, treating it as her greatest opportunity. However, she wasn't bothered by the name before because she didn't know that it was a Mystic-Soul graded product in the records of history.

"It is the Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill!" Wei Wuyin stated directly.

    "It is!" White Sky exclaimed.

The short Dao Protector was in utter disbelief. The Primeval Athenaeum contained information that was never wrong, right? The Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill had to be a Mystic-Soul product!

"I think I know the issue here," Wei Wuyin speculated as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully with one hand and touched the animal skin page with his other. "But to obtain a certain answer, I'd need to do some more research."

While he said that to the others, Wei Wuyin had more or less understood what this was by the Heavenly Daos' unseen hands on the matter extending thousands upon thousands of years in the past. A True Mystic-Rank Alchemical Product!

An extreme rarity among Alchemical Lineages: a single product that spans across the Mystic-Earth, Mystic-World, Mystic-Heaven, and Mystic-Soul grades, different recipes, and different effects, but compiled together under a single name! His Infinite Variations were very similar, yet of the same grade, different effects.

It was also the ultimate protection; any attempt to rely on divination arts to discern any information regarding even the Mystic-Earth graded recipe or concoction method would require as much effort and power as determining a Mystic-Soul graded recipe.

The powerful alchemist who created this product must have gone to great lengths so that lesser cultivation civilizations would find it impossible to discover this product except by inadvertently pioneering it themselves as the King of Everlore or the Founding Alchemist of the Seven Sages Tower had done before. They knew the dangers of their creation.

That said, Wei Wuyin was sure that this page was torn from the complete book that contained all four recipes. The Heavenly Daos had laid the puzzle pieces before him, and now it would be his opportunity to seek it out.

    "The Primeval Athenaeum…"

The library might be the next step to finding out more.

      1726 Chapter 1719: It Arrives

The spacetime observation-restricting barrier established by Wei Wuyin had caused an incredible frenzy. Since entering the Utmost Purity Galaxy, Wei Wuyin's every action had stirred the pot among the strongest cultivators, including the Incandescent Star Palace's Palace Lord, especially by attracting the attention of the galactic news outlet.

Regardless of where Wei Wuyin traveled, there were eyes following, but the moment the barrier was erected by his joint usage of Minor Spatial Law and Minor Time Law, both mutated at their core, the speculations and activity grew increasingly feverish. Assumptions of Wei Wuyin's cultivation were the hottest topic; furthermore, Soul Perception of Enlightened Sages and Supreme Sages were no longer able to reliably observe Wei Wuyin after his ascension into the Mystic Ascendant Realm and the completion of his True Void Dragon Bloodline. Additionally, Wei Wuyin took greater measures to shroud his soul's aura.

It would be far more troublesome if his identity as a Mystic Star Phase cultivator was exposed too early or his true age. At the very least, he had to establish certain contingencies and certainties to ensure that the reveal would be digested well for the galaxy's elites.

With the barrier up, all eyes became blocked, and a few noisy foxes were injured severely. A Heavenly Seer had succumbed to Cultivation Deviation and had even gone into a coma induced by severe dissonance of space and time. While their cultivation base wasn't too advanced, their courage and passion were simply too high. Given the profound aura of the barrier, few decided to recklessly barge in to avoid offending Wei Wuyin directly. Since he sought privacy, infringing on that was bound to only produce enemies, and even if they succeeded, Wei Wuyin would instantly know. It simply wasn't worth it.

The matter of World-Saint White Sky and World-Saint Soothing Jade, including their respective institutes, was solved after an hour or so of discussion and agreements.

Before the barrier came down, Wei Wuyin had agreed to concoct the Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement for her, but only at the low-quality at most, and they'd set the deadline within the next ten thousand years. In the meantime, he would give her ten Mystic-World Essence Pills. Afterward, he warned her that finding this Concoction Method in a random ruin might not be as simple as it seemed. He left it at that.

White Sky was relieved to the high heavens as the condition changed. After all, paying the price of the wager wasn't too difficult. While Wei Wuyin didn't directly interfere with the wager's victor and loser's conditions, thereby preventing her lineage's product and their institute's Concoction Method from being taken by Mei Xiangyao, this was more than enough since just a few months ago, she was on the chopping block of life with Wei Wuyin as the butcher that mercifully decided to send her back to the sea unharmed.

She was incredibly grateful. Moreover, she had established a fated connection with Wei Wuyin that could be leveraged for future benefits. Only she understood that Wei Wuyin didn't just have great alchemical abilities, but he had the power exceeding a monstrous Sage like Enlightened Sage Springfield. She didn't think that with his means Sage Springfield would die to a Supreme Sage easily. One had to know that Sage Springfield was a top expert of the Utmost Purity Galaxy! Whilst she was unaware of his true depths, the man was declared by the Mystic Dao as its representative of the peak of the Mystic Ascendant Realm!

Of course, that was just her assumption. Whether others knew or not wasn't something she could know, but the spacetime observation-restriction barrier was very telling of his cultivation base by pure assumption. There were few Sages that had grasped Minor Authorities, let alone Minor Authorities that felt as if they were Major Authorities. That alone caused those with ill intentions and thoughts of proving Wei Wuyin to come to an immediate halt.

Foreigner or not, no one who cultivated to their level would recklessly offend a cultivator with such power, even if it was a result of Heavenly Treasures, especially since he was also a Worldly Saint Alchemist with a pair of Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity! There were already rumors that he was an ancient Supreme Sage with deep ties with the Incandescent Star Palace.

The mobile Stellar Transit Light disk was already sending a storm their way, but they responded very flatly as if they were unwilling to give out any further detail. They were watching Wei Wuyin closely, but in the eyes of others, this was to observe the result of their non-stationary Star Bridge Arrah disk. Considering that it had been used on multiple trips back and forth, countless hearts wanted to invest further into the Incandescent Star Palace and form deals with them prior to the release of those disks.

It only took a few hours before Hao Chengxue finalized the revision of the wager's conditions and retriggered the payment with the set deadline of a few weeks. It was offered within those hours. White Sky was capable of keeping her White Heaven Jewel, and the Sea & Sky Institute was liberated of their sentence of what was called alchemic indentured servitude, but Wei Wuyin was fine with using the term that best fit such arrangements: Alchemic Enslavement.

After obtaining the complete Concoction Method, Wei Wuyin had also established a Heaven-Bound Soul Oath using Pakhet's Heavenly Treasure, that golden khopesh she forged with her very own bones and blood, preventing any revealing of the Concoction Method for the Resounding Echoes of the Celestial Refinement Pill for the next ten thousand years or his obtainment of its method.

This was entirely one-sided; he could discuss it with others, expose his knowledge of it, or share it amongst his disciples or partners freely, but Mei Xiangyao and her Dao Protector could not expose any details of the Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill or his possession of it, not even the slightest hint. As for Luo Ning and Pakhet, Wei Wuyin didn't impose any restrictions and rebuffed any of their attempts to place them under a Heaven-Bound Soul Oath. They could only accept such arrangements.

      -----

Wei Wuyin sat comfortably on a rattan chair with soft padding, enjoying the wine offered by Hao Chengxue, the Hall Manager of this Utmost Purity Hall's branch. Behind him, Pakhet stood beautifully upright, standing like a guardian, observing silently. She was a ferocious piece of eye candy that could be admired from every angle, utterly gorgeous.

Hao Changxue preferred Imentet. Unfortunately, she refused to drink. In truth, the attitudes of high and mighty Sages always displeased him, especially those fairy-like otherworldly beauties that could bring the downfall of entire stellar regions, feeling as if they could ignore all of heaven and earth if it didn't please them. While he was a Worldly Saint Alchemist, his cultivation wasn't close to hers, so he could only pout internally.

While offering casual conversation, his thoughts connected to a similar story:

"World-Saint Neo-Dawn, have you heard of the tragedy of Sky Heart?"

Wei Wuyin took a tip and enjoyed the warmth-inducing feeling of the wine. With a smile, he replied:

      "Who hasn't?"

"Haha! Right! Who hasn't? What a scandal. But considering it was said her beauty alone could steal a galaxy's heart, sending it soaring across the starry skies, I can somewhat understand the pain."

Hao Chengxue commented as he shook his head, feeling as if the Supreme Sage's actions were understandable.

Wei Wuyin took another sip and stared at Hao Chengxue. The Supreme Sage had been so enraged by this so-called scandal that he placed a Prohibition of Heaven's Resonance on the entire galaxy. Because of this, the entire galaxy was dominated by beasts whose powers were innate, tied to their bloodlines.

"I once heard that Sage Imentet of the No-Name Galaxy—"

"Resolute Dusk Galaxy," Wei Wuyin corrected.

"Oh right! I heard there were changes recently to the galaxy, but it hasn't spread too far with any tangible information yet. But yes, Sage Imentet of the Resolute Dusk Galaxy had beauty almost rivaling Sky Heart. From what I can see, it shouldn't be too far off!"

      Hao Chengxue chuckled drunkenly.

Wei Wuyin thought for a moment. Imentet was a heaven-rending beauty for sure, but in his eyes, she paled in comparison to Xue Yifei, Qing Qiumu, and Yue Songli. Especially Yue Songli and Xue Yifei, thinking of those divine mountains Yue Songli carried with her and Xue Yifei's unrivaled lips, his blood boiled a little.

However, his boiling blood was not caused by what one would initially think. His eyes slowly traced its origins, and his left and right arms were heating up, burning as the tattoos seared an urgent reminder into his soul.

      It was coming.

The Calamity of Hell—the Fourth Calamity.

He closed his eyes for a long moment. Hao Chengxue, while seemingly drunk, was quite sober, and Wei Wuyin's actions caused his expression to grow solemn. He wasn't foolish. He knew Wei Wuyin was an extreme expert. He didn't give off the aura of an Alchemic Soul cultivator at the initial glance, so there was a chance that he was a Resonant Soul Realm expert! The worth of drinking with an expert of that level was inestimable, and his status would certainly increase by mere association. Even if they took a few steps back, those Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity were enough to elevate his position to be not a lick inferior given that all information points to him establishing a Mystic-World Alchemical Lineage already!

Wei Wuyin continuously reviewed the details that Wen Mingna had nearly given her life to pass on in his heart.

      Was he ready?

      Always.

Yet as it was approaching, arriving, rearing its ugly head threatening to claim his very existence, his heart…

"I have to go," Wei Wuyin said as he lightly placed down the wine glass, rising from his head. Pakhet's spine straightened instinctively, her heart palpitating as she gazed at Wei Wuyin's tall figure. She cultivated and fought savagely and ferociously, yet for a split moment, she felt like a tiny domestic cat observing a hell-trodding prideful divinity.

"Return to the ship," Wei Wuyin instructed Pakhet, who subconsciously acknowledged with a nod. Then, he clasped his fists toward Hao Chengxue,

"There's a matter I have to settle, so I'll have to ask for forgiveness."

"Forgiveness?" Just as Hao Chengxue was baffled, Wei Wuyin's body merged with the void, vanishing as if it no longer existed on this plane of existence. His eyes nearly bulged out of his eye sockets almost immediately. Was that…Spatial Shifting?!

Pakhet didn't stay. She left immediately. Her heart was pounding. The more she interacted with Wei Wuyin, the more mysterious and unfathomable he seemed. Moreover, she couldn't stop herself from feeling desire, a feeling she hadn't felt since meeting him or in the last thirty thousand years, as that image of his tall figure manifested in her memory. It wasn't love.

      Was it…lust?

      -----

Wei Wuyin had long since set a Void Anchor beyond the Utmost Purity Galaxy. He repeatedly went through the contingencies he set in place in case he never returned from this calamity. While he was confident, it went against his nature to not make ample preparations for every conceivable scenario. He had even set a sequence of spiritual jades that would emulate and complete his two-year date with Yue Songli after his disappearance, encouraging her to enjoy being free from now on.

I didn't mean it was literally a draft. People will provide feedback to Kevin, pointing out typos and other errors, and I believe he does make corrections.

The versions that get posted on 3rd party sites don't get those corrections so I believe there are a lot of errors that don't exist on WN.

For example, Chapter 1552 1545: A Story to Tell

I just spent f#cking 30 minutes on WN trying to get fast passes to unlock it. It's __MASSIVELY__ different from the chapter that's posted here. It is much longer and has the event where they run into the Kaku eaters.

The version here will likely never be updated with the corrected contents, so make of that what you will.

    1723 Chapter 1716: Soothing Jade
    Institute

Hao Chengxue stared blankly at the ray of rainbow light's return; his disbelief was overwhelming his senses, and his heart was genuinely pounding mightily within his chest.

Stellar Transit Light was a paramount means of interstellar and extrastellar transportation; its speed could allow Enlightened Sage Springfield and Young Master Shang to traverse the Dark Void's Void-Blank Space between galaxies with great ease. From the Utmost Purity Galaxy to the Sky Heart Galaxy, it required only a few weeks or so to complete that trip. The sheer distance between both galaxies was indescribably vast.

The distance for interstellar travel was far inferior to anything on the level of extrastellar, especially between galaxies. Since the trip to reach the Soothing Jade Institute and back was within the same galactic zone, and even in the same stellar region—the Swirling Growth Stellar Region—the time needed to reach their destination was under two or so minutes, to be exact—117 seconds.

The remaining four minutes only required the Sage-level Dao Enforcer to present the summons, and for Luo Ning to subtly announce her lineage's identity and the driving force behind the summons. The implication of Wei Wuyin's impatience that he was willing to expend such great wealth and resources for a potential Star Bridge was enough to cause the Head Dean of the Soothing Jade Institute to immediately react and represent her organization.

Pakhet was there to activate and direct the disk. She used it, and they came back at world-startling speeds. The Head Dean of the Soothing Jade Institute was ashen throughout, trying their damnedest to hide her panic. What type of person had she attracted here? When did White Sky obtain such a terrifying backer?

From the beginning, Wei Wuyin silently allowed his actions to accumulate reputation and renown in such a well-connected galaxy. Within those eight minutes, his lineage and name, including the identity of his Alchemic Knight, one of the eight known leaders of the recently renamed Resolute Dusk Galaxy, had spread like wildfire in the driest, windiest, and hottest climate.

Wei Wuyin became an instant sensation. A hot topic amongst the Utmost Purity Galaxy's prominent cultivators, creationists, and news outlets. As one might have expected, Seers and Oracles were already given orders to divine aspects of his lineage, seeking to verify his confident claims while simultaneously gathering information on this newly arrived Alchemic Saint Neo-Dawn!

The information that Enlightened Sage Springfield had gathered back then; the Neo-Dawn Alchemic Lineage was extensive and unique, possessing broad products ranging from the mortal-rank to the Mystic-World grade. However, just like Enlightened Sage Springfield, they weren't able to deduce the products' effects easily, so it only alluded to the exceptional effects of each of his lineage's products!

Not only was the Neo-Dawn Alchemical Lineage extensive, but the most outstanding detail was that it didn't have any pre-existing, external lineage or generic products within it, and it broadly covered pills, potions (elixirs), pellets, and pastes. It was a proper lineage! A genuine, true lineage!

Hao Chengxue's state of silent shock wasn't simply due to the jaw-dropping stellar transit light deployment, but due to the constant feed of new information coming in from his subscription service of the Observing Chronicle, Fortuitous Gazette, and shockingly, the Blessed Sentinel as an update to the list of top-tier foreign alchemists and their lineages was updated.

Without any explanation, the Blessed Sentinel added Wei Wuyin to two ranking lists. Not just the top-tier, non-native Utmost Purity Galaxy's foreign creationists list known as the Outer-Creation Kings Rankings, but the Heroes of Luminosity Rankings that graded how brilliantly handsome and flawless one's physical appearance and impactful their outer and inner presence were, like a great celestial object shining brightly in the starry skies. It was very superficial.

The most shocking was that while his ranking on the Outer-Creation Kings Ranking was only 73rd out of 10,000, with the lowest among this ranking often being Mortal Sovereign Alchemists who established their own lineage from the first-grade to seventh-grade or higher, his ranking for the Heroes of Luminosity Rankings was 3rd out of 10,000!

    3rd!

    3rd!!!

Using Enlightened Sage Springfield's tablets with pre-existing access to all three outlets at the highest level, even Wei Wuyin was unable to halt his heart from feeling surprised at the speed and decisiveness of these updated rankings.

'Only 3rd?' Wei Wuyin found himself curious about the other two higher rankers. While he was not supremely arrogant of his looks given to him by his mother, he was self-aware of his innate allure and otherworldly attractiveness under heaven and earth.

"Lord Wei," Luo Ning called out to Wei Wuyin as she led the Head Dean of the Soothing Jade Institute over, including her burly, stout, and short male Dao Protector dressed in simple grey and coarse cloth robes. The Dao Protector was actively positioning himself between Pakhet and the Head Dean. Despite their actions, the Ascended Saint Phase aura was unable to push away Pakhet's passive True Sage Phase aura that was focused on the Head Dean.

The Head Dean was a beautifully mature woman with a calming demeanor, a head full of grey hair that was tied into a tight bun, and her dark green eyes styled with white eyeshadow. With a body that was neither fat nor slender, her modest-sized twin peaks were hugged by her jade-colored alchemist robes, and her sizable romp formed an alluring curve that briefly exposed itself with each step.

Under Pakhet's escort, the Head Dean—Mei Xiangyao—greeted Hao Chengxue with a unique gesture:

"Hall Manager Dustpath, I have answered the summons of the Seven Utmost Towers."

Her voice was clear, resonating like gentle music to one's ears.

"I've observed your fulfillment of the edict," Hao Chengxue's attitude became solemn as he accepted Mei Xiangyao's greeting and words, executing a hand-seal that caused the Alchemic Edict that was significantly smaller than White Sky's to dissipate. The Utmost Purity Mist therein turned into a seven-colored mist river that flowed toward Mei Xiangyao. The Head Dean of the Soothing Jade Institute pulled out a bottle and captured the mist, but the Imperial Law aura within the mist no longer existed.

Observing this with keen focus, Luo Ning's eyes brightened. She knew that Alchemic Edicts were not only orders with the authority of the Seven Utmost Towers, but they were also bribes to convince alchemists to adhere to their orders. But that largely depended on the type of edict issued. Those who violated the Alchemic Dao of the Seven Utmost Towers and their established rules were not granted such a benefit, but the Dao Enforcer who completed the edict was.

The Sage-level Dao Enforcer couldn't complete the edict despite carrying it due to Wei Wuyin's interference, so they could only bitterly accept their loss. If Wei Wuyin resolved the situation somehow, their reward would dissipate into thin air.

White Sky stared at Soothing Jade, or Mei Xiangyao, with a hateful glare. This woman was the cause of her current plight! While not directly, she certainly took advantage of her absence to lure Azure Sea into a trap that inevitably led to their defeat and imprisonment. While she might not have expected that White Sky had taken the White Heaven Jewel, and thus lead to their subsequent imprisonment and enslavement, the sinister acquisition of their lineage and concoction method was certainly her doing!

Mei Xiangyao ignored White Sky; in terms of alchemical status, World-Saint Soothing Jade was a Senior Worldly Saint Alchemist! The Alchemic Dao was not an easy path to tread, and each ascending tier within a rank was as difficult, if not more difficult, as assailing tribulation gates of the upper stages of the Mystic Ascendant Realm.

While in terms of hierarchical status within one's Institute, White Sky was not the Head Dean. She didn't have the temperament to lead, so Azure Sea had maintained that position since the founding after a lengthy discussion after White Sky had surpassed her in the eyes of the Alchemic Dao of the Utmost Purity Galaxy. Of course, White Sky was an extraordinary authority within her Institute and society, and her words as a founder were significant while heavy decisions wouldn't be made without her. If not for her sudden departure and bestowal of authority to Azure Sea, she wouldn't have been able to agree to any Dao Clash or game of Mystics.

"You must be World-Saint Neo-Dawn. It's my honor to meet you today," Mei Xiangyao greeted Wei Wuyin with a tone of immense respect and eyes that betrayed her shock. She, like most of her status, kept a close eye on news outlets. While she preferred the Observing Chronicle to the nonsense that was often the Fortuitous Gazette, she still had a low-tier subscription to the service, unwilling to pay more.

As for the origin of her shock? It was Wei Wuyin! The man had the unearthly, otherworldly, exceedingly handsome visage with a body that was tall, sturdy, and naturally domineering in terms of presence and unknowable in terms of depth. With his starry gaze revealing the depth of his Alchemic Dao, her heart couldn't help but race as the tender, springtime feelings of a crush set within her heart.

It had to be noted that she was a married woman.

'The third ranking might not do him justice!' Her thoughts, as outrageous as they were, contained her truest feelings.

Unbeknownst to her, Wei Wuyin's silver eyes that seemed to behold all without fail, capable of observing divinities unseen, and that dared to peer into the Heavenly Daos' secrets and survived Hell's most vicious torture contained an extraordinary charm that contributed heavily to his appearance, greatly accentuating his overall looks. Due to the constant activation of his Alchemic Stars, it was hidden.

"I had heard of the beauty of World-Saint Soothing Jade from the words of others, but seeing you today, it seemed their words were unable to do you justice by any measure."

Wei Wuyin's response took the others aback, but seeing that the situation wasn't descending into chaos, Hao Chengxue was satisfied with this.

"World-Saint Soothing Jade, World-Saint Neo-Dawn here sought to discuss the details of your recent Dao Clash with the Sea & Sky Institute. Shall we go to the Hall to discuss further?" Hao Chengxue tried to offer an invite again.

    Wei Wuyin suddenly said,

"According to the rules of the Seven Utmost Tower, the victor of a Dao Clash has the right to alter the conditions of the wager as long as both parties agree after determining the winning party, correct?"

"That's correct," Hao Chengxue replied on instinct. Then, his eyes widened slightly as he realized that Wei Wuyin intended to resolve this matter directly.

Mei Xiangyao heard Wei Wuyin's incredibly direct praise as her cheeks flushed slightly. However, before she could bathe in those complimenting words, Wei Wuyin revealed his intentions in one go. She knew what he wanted right then and there.

She thought about it for several seconds, glancing at White Sky, who was throwing her a mean look. She swiftly cooled down.

"World-Saint Neo-Dawn, you want me to remove the White Heaven Jewel from the spoils of victory? Even if I do, the Utmost Purity Hall that supervised the Dao Clash has to retract their issued Alchemic Edict to avoid any penalty. That's...difficult."

Wei Wuyin didn't deny his intentions, and while her words rang true, nothing couldn't be solved…with wealth. If a million coins couldn't resolve the issue, just throw a billion at it! If not a billion, then a trillion! It was only a matter of how much!

From the beginning, all Wei Wuyin had to do was pay the standing debt. But why do that when he could achieve his goal with cheaper methods and elevate his standing in the galaxy all at once?

"That is a little difficult," Hao Chengxue said. He genuinely wanted to do this inside the hall. There were so many eyes on them here.

"Difficult is not impossible," Wei Wuyin calmly stated with a grin.

"So let's discuss the difficulties. How about this: if World-Saint Soothing Jade is willing to revise the wager, you can replace it with any high-tier Mystic-World grade product that I can reasonably concoct. Additionally, I can assure you that this product will not be impure or low-quality.

"As for the Utmost Purity Hall, I'll compensate for the loss of Utmost Purity Mist used during the creation of the edict, and as an apology for my directness, I will offer fifty Mystic-World grade Essence Pills, all low-quality."

    "..." Mei Xiangyao.

    "..." Hao Chengxue.

Both alchemists were stunned into speechlessness. Initially, they didn't quite believe it would be easy to resolve, but Wei Wuyin's offer wasn't ordinary. In fact, it was outright insane!

For those like Luo Ning, influenced by Wei Wuyin's prowess, didn't find this too excessive, but Nepit, Nepri, and Imentet, who hadn't experienced the excessiveness of alchemical products, found this offer to be ludicrous! Setting aside the compensation for Utmost Purity Mist, the minimum high-quality Mystic-World grade alchemical product was incredibly unreasonable! And it was her choice!

The vast majority of products out there were impure-grade of varying impurities. The majority of cultivators would fight and kill for an impure product suitable for their cultivation base that was only 10% or less impure, while low-quality products might be considered 'low,' but they were perfect products without the slightest impurity.

These impurities affect a cultivator's strength, foundation, talents, and lifespan, but cultivators would still refine them because the benefits often exceed the detrimental effects, such as a reduced lifespan. While products that were low in quality were perfect, then high-quality products exceeded perfection and were exceedingly rare.

Taking a step back, the fifty Mystic-World grade Essence Pills that were all low-quality were only slightly less insane! The world of cultivation ran on essence, and Essence Pills provided generic essence that could, with time and effort, fuel the progression of any method, from strengthening one's foundation of energy, fortifying one's Sea of Consciousness, enhancing the depth or quality of one's Spiritual Energy, cultivate Ocular Methods, greatly improving the physical body or nurturing one's World-Bound Star Domain or Domain of Mysticism!

The cultivation methods that upper-stage Mystic Ascendants Realm experts, those World Emperors, Original Magistrates, Mystic Overlords, and Sages, would find difficult to cultivate would suddenly become incredibly easy with refined essence from those pills!

It was difficult to properly gauge the immense worth of his offer from Luo Ning's perspective, but based on the generally accepted market price of the Utmost Purity Galaxy, then a single Mystic-Earth Essence Pill was valued at 100 Mystic-Earth Essence Stones, and Mystic-World Essence Pills had the same base conversion. Moreover, those were all impure. For low-quality products, the value jumped from 100 to 1,000; for high-quality, the value was 2,500; for peak-quality, the value was set at 10,000!

This was no different than offering 50,000 Mystic-World Essence Stones! 50,000!!!

    How could they…refuse?

    How could anyone?!

1724 Chapter 1717: Resolving With Wealth; The Opportunity Comes

      50,000 Mystic-World Essence Stones!

Not a single person present or observing could control their expressions changing greatly, suffused with emotions of disbelief, shock, uncertainty, and envy. Setting aside the obscene amounts of money offered to the Utmost Purity Hall as a direct gesture of apology, Mei Xiangyao had been given the equivalent of a blank check!

Any reasonable Mystic-World grade alchemical product? Any! Additionally, it was promised not to be impure or low-quality! That detail could not be overlooked! Absolutely not!

Wei Wuyin's offer was implicit on both sides agreeing to his conditions; however, so if Mei Xiangyao refused to accept the offer on her side, then the Utmost Purity Hall would be unable to recoup their loss and gain great benefits with little to no cost! This would be no different than robbing the Utmost Purity Hall of the Northwestern Growth Zone!

A single move, while outrageously generous on the surface, was forceful as could be! Vicious! Sinister! All the things!

Mei Xiangyao did not lack intelligence or keen situational awareness with her position, cultivation, and experience, so she immediately realized that she was backed into a corner where she would infringe on the Utmost Purity Hall's benefits, yet her jaw was still dropped and her eyes effused a light of utter disbelief. Fortunately, this could also indirectly allow Hao Chengxue to owe her a favor, bettering the relationship with her Soothing Jade Institute and the manager of this Utmost Purity Hall branch.

      She wouldn't lose much agreeing!

"Ar-are you sure, World-Saint Neo-Dawn?" Hao Chengxue muttered softly, his thoughts firing on all cylinders as he considered the proposal with all his soul. Fifty low-quality Mystic-World Essence Pills would grant him immense benefits and an explosive surge of wealth. That said, he would have to divide the wealth among the other members of this Utmost Purity Hall to prevent any further issues, but even 5%, the equivalent of 2,500 Mystic-World Essence Stones, would be enough to satisfy every last one of them several times over, especially since they would lose nothing and be given free money. How could they possibly complain?

      Wei Wuyin smiled,

"Since I'm creating a difficult situation, and you're both assisting me in completing my objective, it's the very least I could do. I hope that my offer isn't too inadequate."

"Inadequate?" Hao Chengxue started. He hurriedly waved his hands before him and said:

"Your compensation isn't low at all, World-Saint Neo-Dawn. However…" his eyes turned to Mei Xiangyao, "...the participants of the Dao Clash must agree to the new terms, even if it's just a retroactive exclusion. This must include the Sea & Sky Institute's representative and the Soothing Jade Institute's representative. You already have World-Saint White Sky here and World-Saint Soothing Jade; as long as both parties agree, we can amend the terms immediately."

"..." White Sky's eyes brightened like two luminous stars.

"I agree with the exclusion of the White Heaven Jewel, an immediate recalculation of the wager, and a refreshed fulfillment period." She was quite knowledgeable on the rules, so her words established everything she desired in a single go.

Mei Xiangyao's eyes had never left Wei Wuyin's impressive figure surrounded by a peerless presence. She then revealed a brightly lit, incredibly sweet smile that could charm the soul, exuding the unrivaled grace of a mature beauty capable of soothing a beating heart's every worry.

"Since World-Saint Neo-Dawn desires it, as long as I'm not infringing on the Utmost Purity Hall's established rules, how could I possibly reject this great blessing? Yet I must ask, what is considered 'reasonable' by your standards?"

Hao Chengxue internally sighed a breath of relief intermixed with growing excitement in his chest.

"How about we accept Hall Manager Dustpath's offer, and we can discuss it further?" Wei Wuyin suggested. After settling the matter publicly, his goal had all but been achieved, and now they could take this in a private setting to handle the rest.

"Haha! That would be lovely! I have some Myriad-Year Water Lily Wine that we can enjoy to wet our throats and warm our hearts!" Hao Chengxue's laughter filled the world. How could Mei Xiangyao refuse?

Before long, Wei Wuyin followed Hao Chengxue into the free-floating continent containing the palatial hall. Pakhet and Luo Ning followed him. The former was his formal Alchemic Knight, while the latter was his assistant who simultaneously cultivated his lineage, so they had the right to enter a discussion of this level.

Before long, four Worldly Saint Alchemists sat around a table filled with delicacies brought out by young mortal men and women, both of which were pleasant to look at, carefully selected by Hao Chengxue to attend to their needs. While discussing the details of the revision, finalizing this matter, and exchanging stories, Hao Chengxue pointed out that half of the servers were formerly a part of a game of Mystics that had caught his fancy.

This was common practice among alchemists to acquire servants, disciples, and even alchemic knights, albeit rarely, from these realm-stage games of Mystics that unfolded.

Luo Ning would occasionally refill Wei Wuyin's cup whenever it lowered by half, and the others whenever they were drained by a third, her attitude faultlessly diligent and her eyes glowed endlessly as she listened with the utmost attentiveness. Luo Ning was undeniably a beauty after her bodily rejuvenation and steady progression of her cultivation base. Moreover, she was remarkably young for her cultivation, and Wei Wuyin spoke only the highest of praise. The others could not ignore her.

After learning that she was an alchemist who possessed an Alchemic Soul, the outward attitudes of White Sky, Mei Xiangyao, and Hao Chengxue—these three Worldly Saint Alchemists—underwent a noticeable change for the better. While an Alchemic Soul Alchemist wasn't too uncommon here, an Alchemic Soul Ascended being Alchemist was!

"Such a young Earthly Saint Alchemist! I wonder what tier she's reached in the Alchemic Dao?" Hao Chengxue asked curiously, sparking the interest of White Sky and Mei Xiangyao. There were three tiers of all stages of Alchemic Saint, divided into Junior, Senior, and Exalted, which were respectively tethered to low-tier, high-tier, and peak-tier products of their proper grades. Additionally, some standards had to be reached.

For the Resolute Dusk Galaxy, Sage Khonshu had informed Cao Cuifen that their standards were influenced by the Utmost Purity Galaxy. According to the Alchemic Dao of their galactic standards, to be classified as a specific tier, an alchemist needed a 30% success rate with at least two products of a single type OR a success rate of 50% with at least one product of a single type, which couldn't be a paste, and only low-quality products were considered!

The Utmost Purity Galaxy's standards were more or less the same, with the only difference being that an alchemist could achieve a 20% success rate with at least three products, all of different types, excluding paste. This was specifically removed from the Resolute Dusk Galaxy's Alchemic Dao after a silent admittance of their inferiority. The vast majority of alchemists in the Resolute Dusk Galaxy's historical lineages have traversed the path of a single lifetime specialization.

Luo Ning politely smiled in response. How was she to respond to that question? She honestly didn't know; the standards of the Utmost Purity Galaxy were daunting to the Resolute Dusk Galaxy and the various neighbors that took it as the tip of the surrounding galactic standard for the Alchemic Dao, but compared to the Hepta-Dawn Alchemic Corps' alchemic standards—especially the need for mastery of all four types and the compulsory Thirty-Three Heavenly Concoction Method usage for each product type, with at least ten successful low-quality or higher products each batch—the standards felt very lackluster.

She didn't know her exact standard, and even if she was placed in the batch of Exalted Earthly Saint Alchemists, there was a great chance that for products at the low-tier, she would outclass every last one of them directly and embarrassingly.

      Fortunately, Wei Wuyin was present.

"She can be regarded as a Junior Earthly Saint Alchemist."

While a junior was the lowest official tier, it was only a societal standard. If an alchemist could concoct a low-tier, Mystic-Earth grade product at the low-quality—which was essentially 'perfect'—the Alchemic Dao would recognize them as an Earthly Saint Alchemist, producing a phenomenon regardless of societal beliefs.

For those who've succeeded in concocting Mystic-Earth grade products and received the recognition of the Alchemic Dao, they were blanketly referred to as Earthly Saint Alchemists without any prefix titles. But many took offense to such designation, and often rather be called Grand Mortal Sovereign Alchemists until they meet the required standard lest they become a joke, misrepresenting the established ability of the Utmost Purity Galaxy.

However, when Luo Ning revealed her Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence earlier, both to announce herself as Wei Wuyin's assistant and go to pick up World-Saint Soothing Jade as Wei Wuyin's envoy, both Worldly Saint Alchemists were shaken.

When Wei Wuyin attained the Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence, he had reached a form of mastery over transcendent-quality products, intermixing the Mortal with the spirituality of Mysticism, transcending limitations without infringing on any of their principles or boundaries. However, that was but one of the seven ways to initially attain the Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence.

Bai Xiu was an existence infused by the Alchemic Dao and could deduce which of the seven ways an alchemist had attained their Alchemic Stars, and Wei Wuyin's path was the most difficult, purest, and strongest of the seven ways. It was unprecedented for a mortal to achieve that. In fact, it should be impossible, and she speculated that it had never happened before in history!

      Why?

Because an alchemist in the Mortal Realms should never be able to grasp, observe, manipulate, or control the Ways of Mysticism in such a competent and precise manner to infuse the Mystic Dao's far-reaching and unfathomable principles into the Mortal Dao. It simply was unreasonable!

Hence why Wei Wuyin was the first of his kind throughout history—a Mortal Saint Alchemist!

The most common outside of the seven ways was to be infused with an Alchemic Rune by a master who had already attained it. Officially, the most commonly traversed path to spiritual transcendence that the majority of alchemists achieve the Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence was to concoct the four types of 'established' products under the Alchemic Dao—pill, potion (elixir), pellet, and paste—of the peak-tier within the Mystic-Earth grade!

It was due to this that many Worldly Saint Alchemists still hadn't developed their Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence yet!

The third path was for an alchemist to, by virtue of their own lineage or design, create a new product of the low-tier, Mystic-Earth grade. While seemingly easier, the difficulty in creating something new, readily accepted by the Alchemic Dao, was as difficult as assailing higher cultivation stages.

Wei Wuyin had performed this difficult task at the Mystic-World grade, instantly birthing his Alchemic Stars of Transcendent Purity, the third level of Alchemic Intent! While initially achieving Alchemic Stars through a single path, Alchemists continuously increase the foundation of their Alchemic Stars and Alchemic Dao by achieving each of the seven ways for each level.

For example, all three paths had been achieved by Wei Wuyin, and the other four paths had similarly been completed by him unknowingly, establishing the strongest Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence possible!

"Incredible!" Hao Chengxue's eyes brightened with outward interest, but his heart was mostly deflated. After recalling the fourth path of achieving the Alchemic Stars of Spiritual Transcendence, which was to reach the Earthly Saint Phase with an Alchemic Soul or the Ascended Saint Phase with the Alchemic Stars of Mortal Spirituality, he wasn't too interested in her achievements.

In his eyes, she had attained her alchemic stars by virtue of her cultivation base. That was an unsatisfying achievement in his eyes. Mei Xiangyao felt a similar feeling.

Whether it was White Sky, Mei Xiangyao, or Hao Chengxue, they were all Worldly Saint Alchemists that had reached that level by concocting peak-tier products of the Mystic-Earth grade, and while not rare, it displayed their outstanding talent in the Alchemic Dao unreliant on an Alchemic Soul's absurd advantages. Moreover, none of them had an Alchemic Soul.

Luo Ning didn't mind them underestimating her. She remained mindful and respectful as she kept Wei Wuyin and the other's cups filled.

Before long, all the details were hashed out. What shocked Hao Chengxue was that Wei Wuyin directly paid the fifty Mystic-World Essence Pills and Utmost Purity Mist. Then, he asked Mei Xiangyao what product she desired. When that matter was brought up, her expression became somewhat indistinct, and she glanced at the sitting and listening Hao Chengxue. Seeing this and being insightful to others' thoughts, he politely rose and said that he had to properly store those pills and the mist, leaving directly with a satisfied smile.

Mei Xiangyao also gave White Sky a look, but she sipped her cup and refused to leave. Wei Wuyin chuckled softly, then exerted his mutated Minor Spatial Law and mutated Minor Temporal Law, enveloping them in a barrier of distorted space and time, preventing any eavesdropping.

Hao Chengxue's expression changed slightly as he realized that his formation within the room only sent back a static, distorted burst of spiritual feedback. His ears even bled, and his steps were wobbly for a long while.

"Tell me, what product is it that you wish for me to concoct?" Wei Wuyin asked. White Sky held back the urge to comment rudely, realizing that Mei Xiangyao was being abnormally solemn here.

Mei Xiangyao tested out the qualities of Wei Wuyin's barrier with her Spiritual Sense, and her expression instantly paled a few shades as jade-colored blood leaked out of her nose. She swallowed harshly, barely keeping her wits about her. For a second, she felt as if she had just jumped into a pool of chaotic time and space, almost losing herself outright in pure dissonance of self. Breaking free of this sensation caused her to suffer a minor backlash. Hao Chengxue had suffered the same fate.

"No one else will know what happened here. Not even Oracles or Heavenly Seers," Wei Wuyin assured. Pakhet's eyes blinked curiously, not daring to send her Spiritual Sense toward the distortion barrier, only giving it a few looks. What profound power!

"I see…" Mei Xiangyao coughed a few times before her complexion gained some color.

      "World-Saint Neo-Dawn, can you concoct peak-tier Mystic-World products?"

Wei Wuyin didn't answer, only calmly smiled.

"..." Mei Xiangyao seemed to be struggling with something internally. Then, after a long while, she finally resolved herself. She was at the Worldly Saint Phase, the fifth stage of the Mystic Ascendant Realm, and her ambition was not low.

Her cultivation was neither low nor high, and her achievements on both paths of cultivation and the Alchemic Dao were praiseworthy. While her age was rather advanced, she was still capable of nurturing a far more talented cultivator to become her Dao Protector into an Original Magistrate. While her Dao Protector was already at the World Emperor level when they met, she still put forth incredible effort and made great achievements in nurturing him to such astounding heights.

Unfortunately, this was a common plight for those who cultivated the Alchemic Dao diligently with exceedingly long refinement times and constant failures, including the hecticness of scrambling to sell products to purchase material for concoction. Practicing alchemy was an activity that drained the most money and time.

Because of this, Mei Xiangyao didn't have the greatest foundation for cultivation, and her current achievements were largely the result of alchemical products like the Mystic-Will Convergence Pill and life-saving, ascension-assisting materials and treasures like Mystic Origin Liquid. Her last tribulation nearly claimed her life, and she was still mentally scarred by that experience.

Finally, Mei Xiangyao gathered her resolve and spoke:

"Years ago, one of my Void Hunters I've embedded into an organization came across a concoction method in a fragmented spatial realm that contained ancient ruins that were millions of years old. I learned that it was the external secret realm of an ancient organization of the Utmost Purity Galaxy—a former Tower of the Refinement Zone of two galactic generations ago."

As she spoke more and more, the eyes of her Dao Protector, Luo Ning, and Pakhet began to widen an absurd amount! Wei Wuyin remained calm, but his heart was slowly boiling with interest. He kept listening.

"This concoction method… Have you ever heard of the ninth-grade Echoing Stars of the Vastness Pill?" Mei Xiangyao asked.

Wei Wuyin solemnly nodded. He didn't just know of the pill; the Ancient Sealed Region had been plunged into a dark age due to that pill! Moreover, it had the greatest significance to his cultivation during the upper stages of the Astral Core Realm! Without it…

"Then as you know, that product requires natural Solar Stars to concoct, making it extremely dangerous to any functioning cultivation society if left unchecked and could damage its future potential in the long term. It was even used often in high-level games of Mystics to rapidly accelerate the rate of cultivation. The concoction method they discovered… is a peak-tier—no, pinnacle-tier Mystic-World grade pill… the true Echoing Stars of the Vastness Pill: The Resounding Echoes of Celestial Refinement Pill!"

"..." Wei Wuyin's heart raced with thunderous fervor. This was it… this was the fortuitous encounter the Heavenly Daos had guided him toward by sparing White Sky!
