That is the point of the novel tho, he is supposed to kill the hero without being as OP as the hero, Heros are chosen ones by Gods, meanwhile MC has no tittle, he is chosen one but she only gave him the opportunity to chose his innate skills, he doesn't surpass the hero in nothing. MC is an assassin so he doesn't have to be equal in power, just enough to be able to kill the hero when he doesn't expect it.

A story where the protagonist is weaker than the antagonist and has to use his wit to come out on tip is more entertaining to read, harder to write, and speaks of the writing and novel's quality. The point of the novel is for the protagonist to simply kill the antagonist. The MC failing to do that just makes the antagonist seem like a bigger challenge and makes the inevitable victory of the protagonist and the process leading up to that way more entertaining. The fact that you think the protagonist has to be so overpowered he faces no challenge beating the antagonist or that the protagonist failing makes the novel trash shows just how pitiful your mental maturity is and tells me just what you like to read. Go look somewhere else for another cliche transmigration harem power fantasy wish fulfillment novel to read.
