Su Jin, an ordinary poor young man from the countryside working overtime every day to make ends meet in the city to support his family, finds himself in the possession of a book only known as Hell’s Handbook.

The Handbook universe initially seems like a video game as it proceeds to throw him into a different world every month, each world filled with supernatural beings, mythical creatures and deities, and even includes a complete point system along with weapons and special skills.

Surviving these challenges is not easy, but it comes with great rewards.

But he soon realizes that all of this is real. The monetary rewards and magical items he receives from Hell’s Handbook can be used in the real world, but in the same way, every person who dies during a challenge dies in the real world too.

As Su Jin desperately tries to survive each challenge he is thrown into, he slowly starts to uncover the truth behind Hell’s Handbook.

    it's really hard to stomach some of the shit the Author tries to feed you. I really tried to stay positive but the Authors too good and I'm too weak. Challenges were fun to enough to read though...

    At chapter 47 and its a pretty mixed bag tbh.
    On the one hand the "game" things are interesting and he's smart and deductive in it.

    On the other hand, like most other ones, the real life stuff isn't really as interesting.

    Especially since, even though it is a modern world, there are Young Masters and lots of Face Slapping. He also, for some reason, is nowhere near as smart and deductive in reality. There's a character (who from their first appearance we are told also has the book) and they CLEARLY do/say things that show that they have it
    but he just doesn't seem to figure it out.



    Overall it depends on whether you enjoy the real life parts + face slapping, since it seems like they're going to continue being a big focus going forward.

        Definetly agreed. He is pretty much forced to use it, otherwise he'd die. I just wish the author didn't go down this type of corruption route. If it was just restricting the type of power he could wield, or if it was maybe just subtlety changing him to think about things more objectively/ruthlessly, it would be better imo.
        But thats just because i enjoyed him being smart about things rather than just resorting to violence all the time. There are definite times where reading about these types of MCs is great, but personally in this novel i felt the MC being smart was more interesting to read about than him just resorting to violence.

        Obviously the fact he for some reaso isnt smart in real life part in the first place doesnt help things.

          And, considering the common usage of the trope along with what he wrote down in review, I wouldn't like it.

              Sure.
              Firstly, him not being as smart in reality when compared to when "in the book". I have seen this happen in multiple novels and have left dissapointed. So, I am assuming the same will happen here because this is a "common plot armor".
              Secondly, I do not like beserk modes.

              This is all a personal preference for me more than the issues of book(Since I have not read it, I can not comment on it).
              So, take this reasoning with a grain of salt. I am also the type of person that sometimes read real bad CN novels just because I am bored.

                He is smart but it is just that somehow the handbook is a trigger that enhances his intelligence due to him knowing everything he does is dangerous and had to do it right and every time he goes back to reality he drop his guard and after knowing there’s others like him in his world his guard started going up and as well intelligent and intelligence can’t be raised out of nowhere so that means he been had that intelligence but never really tapped into it and as for berserk mode did you think everything is free? Whether in fantasy or rl anything that is free is suspicious depending on the situation and you do not want to have millions of dollars into your bank account without knowing why and where it came from and besides he isn’t the only one playing the game because the book is connected to parallel earths so not everyone he meets is from his world. And one thing to know is that any level from that book can kill so they are always on edge and he wasn’t the only one who experienced the seemingly increased intelligence or something that changed their characters in order to adapt and btw even the levels are not to be trusted because there’s a chance it is wrong not because the book is wrong but because of circumstances and it’s individuals in the game

                  I totally understand and accept all the story decisions the author has taken. It's just not my taste. A lot of people liked it, but that doesn't mean everyone likes it. It might be good but there is no point in me reading something "I" won't enjoy. That's it.

    The mystery and suspense keeps me from reading , it is similar to combination of house of horrors and infinity terror but with original storylines (not from movie) with each mission .
