Kubei was just an ordinary pencil and button pusher working a day job, hating his boss and making horrible speeches when one day he fell asleep after pushing an all-nighter. When he woke up, he was bound to a chair, facing three creepy robed women and in a body way too young and way too weak to be his own. As he slowly came to, he realized that he was no longer in the same universe as he was before. He had teleported to the Kingdom of Helius, where an all-powerful church rules its lands and wages war against the elusive group known only as Mages. Armed with an incredibly cocky neural interface that just won’t shut up and his own sheer wit, our main character will find himself not just fighting to survive, but maybe even for something bigger than himself. Well for a Chinese novel it’s gone beautifully.

Here MC isn’t proud of himself, no harem, thinking/planing before doing something: despite that he’s great at
, he’s not a killing machine but he doesn’t hesitate, and he’s not totally depending on his system.
World development is also good, not the best one but still nice. Little side stories behind characters are pretty nice too.

you can laugh a couple of times, but it gets boring quickly, there is absolutely no seriousness in the story of the novel, and to laugh once you have to read 10 chapters of useless sarcastic shit.

I'm still early in, I'll try to update this if anyone asks, but the reason why I want to write a "review" while still early is because people should be aware of what they might get into.

So here's the thing, the author definitely has talent. The story seems to be witch vs church but that's not necessarily a bad thing just because it's simple.

Characters aren't 2d because they (so far) have quite interesting backstories even when they're just minor.

    BUT here's the thing

Regarding the system being "annoying", that's not necessarily a bad thing IN THIS NOVEL because the usual "annoying system" novels, you can't talk with the system, basically the system is usually a "punishment" that drives plot rather than a character. Here it's a character.

The problem I have is actually inconsistency.

For example, the system gained knowledge about a subject because they encountered that subject, but when the mc asks about mages, there's no info despite the fact that they have already encountered mages.

    So that's a TECHNICAL inconsistency.

The personal inconsistency is that the system is a character, supposed to be a character, but it becomes robotic when it wants to. Which makes no sense. The system is supposed to be invested in the well-being of mc since they are on the same boat but annoys the mc or acts in a way that makes no sense because it doesn't help the situation.

I think what happens is that the author thought those actions were funny at the cost of ruining the "character" of the system.

THE GIST: should you read it?

I'm still early in but despite the problems, I think you should. This is coming from a guy who hates annoying systems and annoying characters. The author is trying to write a good story and you can see it.

I'll try to update this if it goes down the drain, but so far it's worth trying and giving a chance. Authors usually have a chapter where they find their stride, hopefully it's not too far a chapter.

    -------------------
Update: yep, still early on but the "comedy" ruins it. One is because it's not funny, the 2nd is because it makes no sense. And it's not that it makes no sense because it's absurd, but simply because it really makes no sense.

He just got into the new world, barely survived an ordeal, and he encounters something "strange" and mildly threatening so he chose to throw a "can" at the "threat". But it turns out that it was a person and not a threat, okay, since he just survived an ordeal, this is actually realistic.
Then it goes further when the "can" was actually a chamber pot with his shit,. The scene was not fast, he had a LOT of time to notice he was holding a shit filled can.

Then it goes even further by him laughing at the person. A traumatized person wouldn't do that because of the tension.

So the situation is, if he's laughing then there's no tension, if there's no tension then why did he NOT notice he was holding shit?

Comedy is poor and does ruin what is rather good writing.

Still not giving up tho, maybe it'll get better.

I guess you've finished it by now, so you should understand the stuff with why the system is how it is

Nah, I couldn't continue mostly because of inconsistencies and bad jokes, at that point it doesn't matter if there's a reason. I mean, if someone was punching me, I don't care if he had a reason.

Similar here, even if there's a good reason, the experience was still poor.

I think people should still try reading this tho, the good parts here are really good and if the bad parts don't irk you too much then this should make for a very good read.

    Hmm...
There's a lot of comedic undertones in the novel.
MC is curious to learn more but not at the cost of his life.
System and MC bicker with each other but still get the job done.
    No harem. 🥳
Starting of the story MC gets played himself as a chess piece but starts coming out of it.
There's a lot of mysteries and strategies involved.

A wholesome story of man who got transmigrated into a weak boy's body with a artificial intelligence that nags him but still helps him through his journey of becoming one of the most powerful mage in the world.

If you have patience to read it, it's a good read.
    quiet satisfied
