"Merry Christmas! And Happy Birthday!!"
Chisato's enthusiastic voice---though who knew her could easily tell it was more of a jovial tone indicating her cheery mood--- echoed within the house. Well of course, she was just that much excited about the roasted turkey. She was dressed in a Santa costume, and had even put up the white beard to show how much she had been excited.
Like usual, there was Tenji, Chisato and even Fuyuki at the dining table in the living room happily sharing the meal.
Today, Tenji turned 17. On this occasion, both of them came up with their gifts.
In Chisato's case, she ultimately couldn't decide on a specific gift and settled on giving him the good ol' «Anything can do voucher». Fuyuki, on the other hand, presented him with high-quality tools for maintaining the weapon that goes to show how much thought he put up on deciding it. It was a set much better in quality than what Tenji had originally bought at a low price.
A merry mood drifted in the air of the dining room, showing how much they were enjoying their time.
On the table, beside the turkey, there was the cake that Fuyuki himself had made and brought here. Though it looked less appealing in appearance, considering it was made by a highschooler, it appeared more endearing. Of course, there were also other dishes present that Tenji had made.
As the christams-cum-happy birthday party started, everyone chatted about whatever topic come to their mind. But as they say, old habits die hard, eh. In the end, most of their discussion revolved around explorers or the monsters. Was this a trait of explorers, no one could tell......
At the same time,Tenji clarified a doubt about his calling. The number '16' that had been written next to status parameters changed to '17' today.
(But it shouldn't be that the number will continue to change till 100 even when I turn 100, right? I wonder until what age that number will keep increasing.)
If the number really keeps increasing endlessly with age, the elderly would become monstrously stronger than adult male. 'It would be interesting for such a society' Tenji thought. But as far as this world was concerned, physical strength began to decline as the age passed by. There was nothing in this world that could stop this inevitable outcome.
Well, this also means a rise in status with the passing of age shouldn't be an eternal thing either huh, Tenji mussed.
"Next is the new year boys! You better not miss out on new year's food! I wonder if Mallorca has their own traditional dishes!? We must make sure to eat everything, remember it, you both!"
Hearing Chisato's merry words, the two disciples smiled wryly.
She was holding an entire roast turkey and gnawing at it with incredible gusto. If only she had paid attention to Fuyuki, she would have seen Fuyuki's expression literally screaming 'no one is taking your food, so please eat slowly.'
There were many things, but that being sad, it wasn't like Tenji's appetite had declined, so in the blink of an eye, all the dishes were wiped clear with all three of them feasting on them.
When it was late at night, they exchanged normal Christmas presents and enjoyed this fleeting moment of peace to their heart's content.
