I’m not entirely sure if people saw my message in the #announcement channel on the Discord server, but my grandfather on my mom’s side passed away on Thursday and I’ve been at his funeral until last night. Before going into some of the details, I’ll just say here that I’m unfortunately not in the mood to really translate this weekend, so I’ll pick off from where I left off in like a day or two.
Compared to my grandfather on my dad’s side who passed away earlier this year, I was a lot closer to the one on my mom’s side since he literally lived 2 blocks from us. I’d see him somewhat often as he’d offer to buy us lunch sometimes and I’d often go on errands to his place. So yeah, this one definitely impacts me a lot more.
I think what makes this depressing is the fact that it wasn’t exactly natural causes. He apparently could’ve probably lived if there was someone with him at the time, but I guess he went to a sauna by himself and things happened. I wasn’t really told the exacts, but I honestly don’t want to know. He probably could’ve lived for another decade considering how active he was. I think it’s only been 2-3 years since he stopped driving. So yeah, an unfortunate accident.
During the funeral for my grandfather on my dad’s side, I missed most of the procedures since that took place 2 hours away, but this time I was there for everything. From the pre-procedure where we got to see him directly for the last time before he went into the coffin, to the part where we brought him to the cremation site and then his final burial site, I was there from start to finish over the course of 2 and a half days. I was given the task of standing at the lead while holding his photo while my brother and his friends carried the coffin.
All in all, I’m just drained now. I just want to decompress for the next few days. Though I do have work tomorrow… I’m going to hope they don’t give me too much to do.
