Chapter 87: Atmospheric Mica |
"Ahh—!"
A massive force yanked the entire Infinite Train, causing it to lurch forward violently. The deafening sounds of dragging and scraping filled the air as the train's roof and sides were struck by something terrifying.
Chen Sixuan lost her balance and collapsed onto the floor.
Through the window, she saw dark, writhing shadows outside, and her mind went completely blank with fear.
Then—
The flashing train lights jolted her back to her senses.
Lin Xian! Lin Xian!
I have to save Lin Xian!
Gritting her teeth, Chen Sixuan pushed herself up, her mind racing as she focused on the flashing lights.
"Two long—M."
"Two long, three short—7."
"AM7… AM7? What does that mean?"
Her lips felt dry, her heartbeat pounding. Suddenly, she spotted the radio on the sofa and her eyes widened in realization.
"AM07—that’s a frequency! I got it!"
Just as she stood up—
BOOM!
A massive tentacle scraped along the side of the train, slamming into it with a heavy impact. The entire Infinite Train almost tipped over.
Chen Sixuan fell hard onto the ground once more, but she gritted her teeth and got up again, crawling toward the radio.
She quickly tuned the frequency to AM07.
Meanwhile, in another carriage—
Lin Xian sat in front of a radio, his face tense.
He had already tuned in to AM07, waiting for Chen Sixuan to act.
But he had been waiting for too long—and still, nothing happened.
"What’s going on? Did I guess wrong?"
"No… that doesn’t make sense…"
Cold sweat beaded on his forehead.
His Mechanical Heart could sense the entire train shaking violently, but strangely, the room he was in remained completely still.
1542 Dark Radio… Why are we encountering it?
He suddenly recalled something Jiang Yun had said—
"Be careful with this thing. It doesn’t just receive signals from people…"
Lin Xian's breath hitched.
Right! The Eerie Blood Crystal—only that thing can activate the Dark Radio!
A shiver ran down his spine. He had attached an Eerie Blood Crystal to the radio before. That was how he had unlocked this terrifying frequency.
But… hadn’t he removed that crystal?
Holding his breath, Lin Xian began searching frantically.
"I remember having it in my hand… It has to be here."
Yet, ever since he entered this eerie frequency, his mind had completely forgotten about the crystal.
"Not on the sofa…"
"What about the floor?"
Heart pounding, Lin Xian switched on the light and began searching inch by inch.
The blood-red bead should be easy to spot.
"Where is it?"
As he rummaged around, his vision suddenly froze—
A pair of pale, ghostly feet appeared in front of him.
Lin Xian slowly looked up—
Standing there was the headless woman dressed in a three-piece lingerie set.
"Get lost!"
Lin Xian shoved her aside. She staggered back a step.
But then—his movements abruptly stopped.
His gaze flickered between her red clothing, her three-piece lingerie, and…
The severed head in the corner of the room.
After a long pause, Lin Xian frowned and spoke coldly—
"Why are you completely dressed in red?"
The moment he said those words—
The ghost’s face twisted.
Her severed head suddenly flew toward him, jaws wide open, fangs bared!
SLAP!
Lin Xian caught her head mid-air with one hand.
"Oh, I get it now…"
"That’s why I kept hearing the sound of glass marbles rolling."
"It was you all along."
A look of horror flickered across the ghost’s face.
Suddenly, the train lights began flashing wildly.
Lin Xian's eyes darkened. Both hands tightened around her head.
And then—he squeezed.
CRACK!
The head shattered.
A red mist burst out, swirling chaotically before quickly condensing.
Lin Xian blinked, momentarily disoriented.
When he looked down again—
A blood-red bead had appeared in his palm.
The Eerie Blood Crystal!
Lin Xian’s expression darkened.
"They tried to trap me in my own train, kill me with my own sword, and now they’re using my own things to turn into ghosts and scare me?"
"This is pure psychological torment…"
Without hesitation, Lin Xian grabbed the radio and attached the Eerie Blood Crystal.
The moment he did—
The world around him collapsed.
BOOM!
A massive impact shook the entire train.
Lin Xian staggered, his ears ringing.
"Lin Xian!"
Before he could react, Chen Sixuan crashed into him, holding onto him tightly.
At the same time, the Infinite Train almost tipped over completely.
"Chen-jiejie, be careful!"
Lin Xian instinctively shielded her, pressing her beneath him.
The Infinite Train felt like it was being swallowed whole by something monstrous.
All around them—
A deafening screech.
A suffocating pressure.
A suffocating nightmare.
The sound drilled into their skulls, tormenting their eardrums until—
Finally—
It stopped.
"What… the hell… was that?"
Chen Sixuan shuddered as she sat up, her body trembling from exhaustion.
Lin Xian helped her up, and they both stumbled into the driver’s cabin.
Looking outside, their breath hitched—
The entire railway was flattened.
Deep gouges ran along both sides of the tracks.
And hundreds of meters ahead…
The rails were completely destroyed.
The sight made their skin crawl.
"Lin Xian—look!"
Chen Sixuan pointed, and her voice caught in her throat.
Up ahead—
Floating above the valley—
A gigantic, island-sized jellyfish drifted eerily through the night sky.
It looked like something out of a nightmare.
Lin Xian's face darkened.
The sheer terror of this thing… was almost on the same level as the Floating Colossal Corpse he had seen in the black mist!
Just how many terrifying creatures lurked in this endless night?
Luo Shasha, Daluo, and KIKI rushed into Carriage No. 1.
"Lin-ge… AH?!"
Shasha hadn’t even finished her sentence before she saw the monstrous entity in the sky and screamed.
Even the usually stoic Luo Ye’s face paled.
KIKI stepped forward, eyes wide with shock.
"An atmospheric mica…?"
It looked exactly like something straight out of interstellar horror fiction.
Shasha gulped.
"How… do we even kill that?"
Lin Xian surveyed the devastation around them, his face grim.
"We’re lucky it didn’t swallow us."
Everyone held their breath as they watched the massive entity slowly drift away into the night.
Finally, they let out a collective sigh of relief.
"It’s gone…"
"That was terrifying…" Chen Sixuan murmured.
Shasha turned to Lin Xian and KIKI.
"Lin-ge, you’re finally back! Where the hell did you go? And KIKI—you were unconscious, and then you vanished! We were scared to death!"
Lin Xian glanced at KIKI, who simply grinned mischievously.
"It’s a long story," he said. "Let’s assess our situation first."
"Daluo, come with me—we need to check the train’s damage and see if we can fix the tracks."
He turned to KIKI.
"Are you okay?"
KIKI put her hands on her hips.
"Report, Train Captain! I feel great!"
Lin Xian shot her a long look—her attitude felt different.
"Alright," he nodded. "Use the drone to scout the area."
"Shasha, keep watch."
"What about me?" Chen Sixuan asked.
Lin Xian noted her exhaustion.
"Rest up. Once I fix the tracks, you’re driving us through the Daluo Mountain South Route."
Chen Sixuan sighed.
"Fine. I’ll cook something. KIKI just woke up—she needs food."
KIKI smirked.
"You’re not worried that thing is still floating up ahead?"
Lin Xian paused, then nodded.
"Fair point. We’ll rest until dawn."
