Book 6: Chapter 72: Luo Li: Are You Going to Reason with Me?

During this day and night, Chen Heng immersed himself in forging Will Energy swords and cultivating his Spiritual Energy, paying no heed to the world outside. This was because of his trust in Luo Li. He believed she would perfectly manage everything.

In reality, Luo Li did not betray Chen Heng’s expectations. On the very first night of the refining process, several groups of people arrived at Mount Enzou to investigate.

The exposure of Mount Enzou’s existence had been anticipated by the black side. The energy fluctuations caused by purifying the All the World’s Evils were far from subtle, and any elite Magus could sense them.

Moreover, all Masters participating in this Holy Grail War, except for Ryuunosuke, had inquired to some extent about the Greater Holy Grails, which were known to be located in places like Mount Enzou’s cavern.

The first group to arrive on the first night belonged to Emiya Kiritsugu. Originally, Tohsaka Tokiomi had intended to send his apprentice’s Hassan of the Hundred Faces, to investigate with a few avatars, but Hassan adamantly refused to enter the black side’s territory for reconnaissance. It was too risky, especially considering the presence of King Hassan. Sending him to surrender? Sure. But as an enemy? Forget about it. Using a Command Spell to compel him didn’t work, either.

The fear Hassan held for the first-generation Hassan was so ingrained that it surpassed the power of a Command Spell. Thus, Hassan was off the table.

As soon as Emiya Kiritsugu’s team arrived, Luo Li (Clone No. 1) discovered them. Surprisingly, she didn’t obstruct them. Instead, she appeared and escorted the two directly into the cavern, allowing them to witness the true nature of the Holy Grail. However, there was one condition—they mustn’t disturb the others.

“Is that the Holy Grail? I never imagined it would contain the All the World’s Evils,” Emiya Kiritsugu remarked, despite having heard Jeanne d’Arc’s warnings about the Holy Grail’s contamination. He had never anticipated the extent of corruption within the Holy Grail. Just one glance at the ceaseless flow of black mud known as All the World’s Evils filled Emiya Kiritsugu with a profound sense of malevolence.

For a moment, he experienced a hallucination, as if countless blood-stained, pale hands were attempting to drag him into that pool of black mud. However, Emiya Kiritsugu was resolute in his ideals of justice, and his spirit remained unyielding. He shook off the momentary daze. Once he raised his guard, the spiritual contamination didn’t affect him much.

The All the World’s Evils was far from harmless even when it was still. If an ordinary person encountered this entity, they would likely be ensnared and devoured by its malevolence at first sight.

Previously, Jeanne d’Arc had explicitly warned about the All the World’s Evils within the Holy Grail. However, none of the red side’s Servants or Masters believed the situation had deteriorated to such an extent, or perhaps they couldn’t believe that the Holy Grail had become so irredeemable.

“You are incapable of dealing with something like the All the World’s Evils. It poses a threat to the entire world. Even in this state, the Holy Grail can grant wishes. However, due to the influence of the All the World’s Evils, it will twist your wish into its most malicious form. For instance, if you wish for world peace, the Holy Grail will annihilate everyone in the world as a preemptive measure for peace, assuming it has the power to do so. If you wish to become the world’s most powerful individual, it will eliminate anyone superior to you. A Holy Grail tainted by the All the World’s Evils can no longer be considered a mere wish-granting vessel.”

Uncharacteristically, Luo Li (Clone No. 1) spoke this much to others, perhaps because she wanted to discourage this duo, who seemed extremely eager to seize the Holy Grail.

“So, you are well aware of the Holy Grail’s condition, yet you refuse to let it go? Furthermore, the black mud that is the All the World’s Evils is being purified before our eyes. Does that mean you believe you can handle it?”

Emiya Kiritsugu was bewildered by the vast disparity between his expectations and reality. But King Arthur, having seen much of the world, recognized that the apparatus before her seemed to be gradually eradicating the All the World’s Evils.

“…Are you sure you want to hear the truth?”

“What are you saying? Are you saying there is hope for this Holy Grail?” The greatly shocked Emiya Kiritsugu turned to Luo Li after hearing what she said.

“Of course, we want to hear the truth.”

“The truth is, we are currently removing the All the World’s Evils. We should succeed in another day. Moreover, due to this Holy Grail Carnival summoning 14 Servants together, all Servants except the one making the wish will be converted into mana to empower the Greater Holy Grail’s wish-granting capabilities, making it twice as powerful as originally intended. While it still can’t be called an omnipotent wish-granter, it can address most of the world’s problems. However…” Luo Li paused for a moment at this point.

“However, what?” King Arthur saw things could turn around, so she quickly inquired further.

“This Holy Grail is our spoils of war. Do you honestly believe that someone who can handle the All the World’s Evils cannot handle you? To be frank, if it weren’t for this peculiar Holy Grail Carnival, the Holy Grail War might have ended in a single night.”

“You…” Saber materialized her sword, wanting to reason things out with Luo Li. However, when she met Luo Li’s gaze, her intentions wavered at the look of indifference in Luo Li’s eyes.

It was common for conflicts to escalate quickly among Servants, and Emiya Kiritsugu had no desire to prevent it. In fact, he had thought of using this opportunity to test Luo Li’s strength. However, when King Arthur’s eyes met Luo Li’s, Saber was instantly immobilized.

What kind of gaze was that? King Arthur, with her vast knowledge and numerous acquaintances, including many extraordinary individuals and excellent subordinates, couldn’t recall ever encountering such a terrifying gaze.

Artoria Pendragon had no way to describe this feeling. However, if she had to use an example to describe it, it would be that of an ancient being, apathetic to the value of life after witnessing countless ages. Nevertheless, such eyes appeared on a young woman who looked no older than 16. This indifference was undeniably genuine, signifying not only immense strength but also a certain level of disregard for life.

Beneath the facade of this young girl lay an entity of indescribable terror.

“Alright, Saber. You can stop. The black side’s Master is indeed speaking the truth. We will stop here for tonight.” After speaking, Emiya Kiritsugu left the cavern without a second glance.

King Arthur, albeit momentarily stunned, followed her Master’s lead, leaving Mount Enzou’s cavern.

Artoria Pendragon couldn’t shake the feeling that her Master had backed down…
