Chapter 139-1

The end of a blue duckweed (7)

“Sister Lin, come on, one more, one more!” Before she even descended the stairs, Song Yuhang heard cheers coming from below.

She leaned over the railing to take a look downstairs.

Lin Yan, annoyed at losing the game, was punished to dance pole dancing.

“Isn’t this inappropriate?” The woman leaned against the bar table lazily, standing there with a cup of wine in her hand, her eyes swirling as if a little tipsy.

The crowd whistled and cheered, “May the loser accept their fate.”

“Sure, it’s rare that Captain Song isn’t here right now.”

“Besides, it’s just a dance, isn’t it? Just now, Xiao Wang lost and even lifted Lao Zhang face to face.”

The two men, both face to face, have been circling the room for a while. On such an occasion today, Lin Yan didn’t want to dampen everyone’s spirits.

Lin Yan, annoyed, placed her wine glass on the table, flipped her long hair, loosened her tie, and even undid the disciplinary button, revealing her slender, fair neck.

“Alright, it’s been a while since I’ve been active, let’s loosen up.”

The music started playing, and Lin Yan stepped onto the stage, her high heels tapping on the ground like lotus blossoms blooming with each step. With every move she made, her shirt became slightly disheveled, the uniform buttons unable to contain the spring scenery eager to burst out. Combined with her fiery gaze, every gesture emitted the lethal charm of a mature woman.

Song Yuhang gritted her teeth.

Damn it, she disappears for a moment, and she’s off flirting again!

The crowd below joined in, cheering and applauding, raising their phones to take pictures, waving their flashlights.

Lin Yan was in the heat of the moment when suddenly she felt like there was a wall behind her. Her eyes swiveled around, and she released the pole, seizing the opportunity to climb up. Her slender hand gently traced across her shoulder, from left to right.

Lin Yan smoothly bent down in her arms, her waterfall-like long hair gently flicking outwards.

The hem of her shirt was also pulled out, revealing perfect mermaid lines.

The audience below almost couldn’t believe their eyes.

Song Yuhang frowned, grabbed her waist slightly, and lifted her up again.

Lin Yan leaned into her arms, breathing slightly, her pupils dark and bright, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips, gently extending her tongue to lick her lips.

F*ck.

Song Yuhang swallowed, a thin layer of sweat forming on her forehead. Clearly, she hadn’t done anything, yet her heart pounded like a drum.

Sweat trickled down her chin.

Lin Yan lightly scratched her nails over her Adam’s apple.

Song Yuhang’s breath suddenly became rapid, gripping her hand tighter.

Lin Yan pushed her away again.

Song Yuhang staggered back two steps, watching her spin and move around the pole, itching with frustration.

She took the initiative to approach, becoming the pole herself, embracing her waist from behind, swaying along with Lin Yan’s movements.

Song Yuhang gritted her teeth beside her ear, “Wait for me in the room.”

Instead of avoiding, Lin Yan complied with her.

“Wait? I’ll wait. What new tricks can you come up with anyway?”

Song Yuhang squinted slightly and made a move commonly seen in partner dances – a hip bump.

“Last time, seven days…”

Lin Yan’s face reddened, and she stomped her high heels.

“Shut up!”

Song Yuhang chuckled, lifting her up sideways, and leaped straight off the stage.

The onlookers became discontented, clamoring loudly.

Duan Cheng teased, “Captain Song, Captain Song, you’re not being fair. Sister Lin is willing to accept the outcome of the bet. This is such a rare opportunity. We won’t get to see it again in the future, will we?”

“Yeah, that’s right!”

“She deserves to be punished!”

Song Yuhang set Lin Yan down, picked up the glass of wine that Lin Yan had not yet finished, raised it boldly, and downed it in one gulp. “Alright, I’ll drink!”

Lin Yan rolled her eyes several times in frustration. Whenever she tried to lift her glass, it would inevitably be snatched away by someone.

During the second half of the game, she didn’t even finish a single drink, all of them intercepted by Song Yuhang.

The group didn’t return until late at night, still in high spirits.

Lin Yan helped her move step by step, while Song Yuhang walked along the wall, occasionally bending over to vomit.

While scolding her, Lin Yan patted her back, “You can’t handle alcohol, yet you drank so much. What if you have an allergy later?”

Song Yuhang’s lips curled slightly, perhaps due to being quite drunk, her eyes shimmering with moisture. “It’s okay, I’m happy… Besides, I’ve… stopped being allergic…”

Lin Yan was taken aback, remembering what Duan Cheng had told her.

“After you left, Captain Song often drank alone. Several times, our police officers had to bring her back from bars or the streets.”

For someone who didn’t drink much and was allergic to alcohol, what kind of emotions led her to drink those drinks?

When she collapsed drunk on the street, was there a moment when she just hoped to sleep like that forever?

Lin Yan’s eyes welled up with tears. She helped Song Yuhang up, supporting her as they stumbled towards the room, muttering curses.

“For god’s sake, you’re happy now, on our wedding night… and you’ve gotten yourself this drunk… and I have to take care of you…”

Song Yuhang thought she was genuinely angry. She lifted her up and pressed her against the door, forehead against forehead, offering a conciliatory smile.

“I’m sorry… hic… I’ll listen… to you… I won’t… I won’t do it again…”

Lin Yan turned her head away with disgust, pinching her nose. “Get away from me, you stink.”

Song Yuhang held her with one hand, and with the other, turned the doorknob, backing into the room unsteadily.

Lin Yan’s heart raced.

“To the left, there’s a shoe cabinet, go right! Don’t bump into the coat rack! The bed! The bed is over there!”

After a few twists and turns, Lin Yan was afraid she might drop her. Song Yuhang carried her around the room for a while, finally reaching the edge of the bed. With a bend of her knee, she let Lin Yan fall backwards onto it.

With Lin Yan acting as a cushion, she was fine. Before Lin Yan could even get up, Song Yuhang flipped her over and began to nuzzle against her like a large canine, her tone affectionate.

“Lin Yan, Lin Yan, Lin Yan… Yanyan… wife… we’re married.”

Lin Yan was successfully disgusted. A blush spread across her face as she pinched Song Yuhang’s ear. “Tsk tsk tsk, Song Yuhang, your taste in alcohol is really poor.”

Song Yuhang slapped away her hand, then buried her head back into Lin Yan’s chest, smacking her lips.

Unable to tolerate it any longer, Lin Yan lifted her head and gritted her teeth. “Get… me… to… take… a… shower.”

Song Yuhang’s gaze was unfocused, as clear as a mirror in her mind.

“Let’s go together.”

Lin Yan could almost see the tail wagging behind her.

“Do you still want to go to bed?” she sneered.

Song Yuhang nodded eagerly, “Yes!”

“Then why aren’t you hurrying up?”

Lin Yan was furious, while Song Yuhang looked pitiful, “But I want to be with you…”

Lin Yan grabbed a pillow and hurled it towards her, “Do you think I don’t know what you’re thinking?! Who wants to soak with you smelling like that! Finish your shower first!”

Song Yuhang heard the first half pitifully, but her eyes lit up at the second half, and she scrambled to get up.

“Okay, I’m going now!”

Behind her, Lin Yan roared, “The bathroom is over there!!!”

“Oh—” Song Yuhang drew out the sound and withdrew her hand, intending to open the closet. Instead, she leaned against the wall and slipped into the bathroom.

After she left, Lin Yan picked up the phone and called the hotel front desk, asking them to bring up a bowl of hangover soup.

Soon, the doorbell rang. Lin Yan took it from the waiter’s hand and felt that it wasn’t too hot. She furrowed her brow but didn’t say anything, letting the person leave. She then turned and placed it in the microwave, setting the time and temperature, ready for when she finished her shower and could drink it.

The sound of rushing water came from the bathroom.

While waiting for her to shower, Lin Yan lay idle on the bed and caught sight of a document on the bedside table.

The document was stamped with the seal of the Binhai Province Public Security Bureau.

Lin Yan reached out and took it.

When Song Yuhang came out of the shower, the document remained untouched on the table.

She wrapped herself in a bathrobe, drying her hair as she walked out.

Lin Yan sat on the bed, playing with a USB flash drive, without even looking up. “The hangover soup is in the microwave, drink it.”

Song Yuhang obediently walked over and took it. The temperature was just right, perfect for consumption.

She gulped down the soup in a few mouthfuls, then rinsed her mouth thoroughly before returning to sit on the edge of the bed.

After a shower, she was mostly sober.

Song Yuhang: “Have you seen Jingzhe?”

Lin Yan didn’t avoid her, still playing with the USB flash drive, spinning it between her fingertips.

“How did you know?”

Song Yuhang smiled faintly, plucking a strand of red short hair from her shoulder. “This is the evidence.”

Lin Yan glanced sideways. “Wow, not bad. Suitable for our technical investigation team.”

Song Yuhang narrowed her eyes slightly, her gaze turning somewhat dangerous.

“However, this also means that you… had close contact.”

It might have been picked up when she grabbed the other person’s collar.

Lin Yan raised her head and smirked provocatively at her. “Since you’re so clever, why don’t you guess the extent of our close contact?”

Song Yuhang gritted her teeth. “Lin… Yan.”

Knowing that she disliked it, yet still insisting on provoking her, this woman really needed to be taught a lesson.

Before she could launch a retaliatory attack, Lin Yan had already grabbed her collar and pulled her closer. Like a trained dog, she sniffed at her neck, her gaze as sharp as a sword.

“Your sudden disappearance from the banquet must have had a compelling reason. Besides the scent of shampoo, there’s also a hint of cheap men’s cologne. The person’s family isn’t wealthy, likely one of the waiters here today. Tell me, who is he?”

“And, explain this document.”

Song Yuhang was dumbfounded. She had already taken a shower, yet Lin Yan could still discern this?!

Lin Yan pushed her away with a cold snort. “After so many years as a forensic examiner, do you think I’m just pretending?”

Song Yuhang could only laugh and cry. It seemed that in the marriage of two police officers, there were destined to be no secrets.
