Chapter 927: Ruin City

The Lupus Gang was based in Ruin City, a place named for the many ruins that once existed there. It had remains from a bygone era on a cliffside edge that overlooked the vast sea.

Originally, it was hardly a town, with just a few small houses in the local area and a community reliant on occasional tourism. It was once considered a tier 4 town due to its lack of resources. Yet, it was so lacking in anything else that not even any of the local gangs saw a benefit in controlling the area.

Among all the cities, it was the only place to experience a boom in growth that people remembered, attributed to the Lupus Gang that now ruled it.

The city was unique compared to others that were filled with giant skyscrapers and streets lined with shops and vehicles. Instead, Ruin City respected nature.

Although there were large company offices and buildings, they resembled giant warehouses rather than towering skyscrapers. The houses were mostly made of wood, and scattered around the city was a large amount of greenery.

There were dense forests and dirt paths in the various areas. Rather than roads for cars, they focused on ways for one to cycle around the place. There was an underground subway, but it was essentially the only mode of transport.

Many people seeking a simpler life moved to the city. Despite sounding like a utopia, it still had its share of problems like any other city.

Being a tier 1 city, one could live a good life, but a hefty fee was paid to the Lupus Gang. On the border, there were large watchtowers that would look out; no one could enter just as they wished.

It was perhaps the most protected place in that regard, and at the same time, there was no police force, only the Lupus Gang. Which meant the main thing the people had to fear was each other.

At times, if disputes happened in the city, they could escalate to the point where two citizens would end up killing each other, or perhaps even more than that. Full-on fights occurred with shopkeepers at times just as they did in any city.

Without a police force, it was essentially a lawless zone. Countless deaths occurred, and the Lupus Gang didn’t care. It was survival of the fittest with them at the top, and no one dared to mess with them.

At the very top, through large dense forests and pathways, there was a castle that looked out just over the sea. Half of it was destroyed. Inside, this was where Lupus, the leader of the gang, resided.

He sat on a throne-like seat, his large chest bare as he wore soft martial arts-like clothing, gray in color. A split down the center showed his hairy and muscular chest. His boulder-like shoulders were large, matching his thick neck.

On his face, a thick white beard that went at least three inches down his face, along with the cold look in his eyes. This was Lupus, the Alpha werewolf.

There was great mystery surrounding the Lupus Gang in more ways than one. First, not many knew of their power, and for some reason, the other Kings didn’t dare to check it. During their growth, they had suffered attacks from tier 2 gangs and more, yet every single one of them was completely eliminated.

It was too fast for information to truly spread, so the strength of the Lupus Gang to everyone was underestimated, and since they weren’t trying to expand their territory, they let them be.

However, the mystery of the gang was even greater than that. Not only were people wondering where they had gained their strength and started to rise in Ruin City of all places, but also where they had gotten the funds to transform Ruin City into the place it was today.

Even by charging the citizens who wished to live there a high amount of tax, it wouldn’t be enough to fund the running of such a large city and its constant developments. This was something no one knew the answer to apart from the Lupus Gang themselves.

“I’ve seen enough to realize that he will be trouble for our future,” Lupus said as he raised a single hand. “Order an attack on Slough now!”

A man by his side dressed in a straight blazer that reached the floor gave a small nod and went to head off to the outside.

However, Lupus was unaware of what was taking place right now in the city itself.

Due to the strict nature of Ruin City, a large wall had been built on the outside similar to that of medieval times with watchtowers looking at those that would come and go.

A single man was looking outside, unable to see anything until an arrow went right through his head, causing him to fall on the floor. At the same time, several more arrows went killing nearly all of those that were keeping watch.

Inside the city itself, random explosions were occurring in particular areas. Buildings were being destroyed, and fighting had begun. The people were in a panic as they started to run down the streets heading back to their homes screaming.

“The Altered Hunters, it’s the Altered Hunters they’re attacking!” the people shouted.

It wasn’t just one or two Altered Hunters. All over the city, Altered Hunters were attacking areas under control of the Lupus Gang, and then from the outside, one of the hunters wound up his fist, and then threw it out, slamming into the wall.

A wave of red aura surrounded his fist, crumbling a large part of the wall.

“It’s time,” Edvard said with a smile. “To deal with these guys.”
