Long ago a great calamity struck the earth, destroying much of it and merging what remained with pieces of other worlds.

With these worlds came Aether, a new form of energy that can allow one to transcend the bounds of normal mortality and human limitations.

In a world where humans absorb the essence of aether beasts to gain power, Aiden Hawke joins the class of humans known as arcanists, people who defeat aether beasts and absorb their essence into cores they forge within themselves, and who infuse themselves with the aether that permeates the world around them to increase the power of their body and mind.

However, unlike most, Aiden will find that he holds a unique gift and that his journey as an arcanist will not be so simple. Collapse

I’ve read 150 chaps and now I see why some people complain about the author repeating himself. It’s not for the word count it’s just the way he speaks. It’s like speaking to a child where you gotta explain everything with detail to make him understand, and by understanding I mean not just getting a “yeah” from this person but for him to truly get your idea. This is why everything is so thoroughly explained and sometimes repeated. I usually speak the same way to women cuz when asked “did you understand?” they always answer positively but can’t repeat what I said…so detailed explanation is the only way here.

I read to 156 and all I can say is that it is indeed very boring. There's nothing really wrong with the novel I would say. Like the world building and extra stuff is decent. But I just couldn't really get into it. You can tell the author wants to have the mc get good character development, but it's just meh. Maybe if your new to novels this will be a good read, but for the og's (I wouldn't consider myself one,but I have read and dropped my fair share of novels) I would recommend it to them

I have read 50 chaps. It's quite boring to read cause author likes to repeat things in the same paragraph for several times.
Also, I don't like mc he is too dumb.
    Romance is quite forced.
But I don't think the novel is too bad. Maybe it's just not my cap of tea

    2/5 for me

Haven't read the story but seeing the synopsis looks like author is making unusually complex sentences with same repeated thing in same paragraph... Chinese authors can take a page out this author's writing on how to increase word count.

I read the first 5 chapters and I now immediately want to crash every website that this story is on so that nobody ever reads this again, on purpose or on accident

Gave up at chapter 53. Too stupid and a lot of filler in the chapters. A 400-year-old beast in a world built on the rule of "power = voting rights" is showing courtesy to a random stranger. Beast is supposed to help the MC, but instead treats him like a subordinate simp. And MC is completely satisfied with this.

Dude, how to describe this, I only read until the ch50 because I didn't have the stomach to read more, the protagonist is simply too naive or dumb, he believes everything the FMC says, he acts like a puppet, their relationship went from 0 to 100 in about 10 ch, it's really not something I like so here's my disappointment with this novel

It is so-so, MC's pretty weak and instead of a system he got a encyclopedia monster with him.

My biggest grip with this is how the author is trying to be "different". It's like an amateur took his own spin of the whole fantasy/magic/cultivation genre but went really wrong. For example , in order to perform mana techniques they have to form "patterns" with their mana. My problem is that he calls them patterns and not runes. Runes are literally various patterns that have certain meanings. A whole magic language that communicates with the world. For some reason the author goes out of his way to call them patterns and not runes when he has runes introduced. Another name thing that ticked me off is his type of magic. For some reason they call it nature but it isn't nature (nature for us and the book is basically reality excluding nothingness/void) magic. It is basically plant magic. The author thought calling plant magic green magic good. It is wrong on so many levels and is actually shown why it is dumb to call it green magic but oh well. We are literally shown how many plants might not even have a speck of green on them. Nor do plants actually need to be green. The magic that the mc mostly uses is related to bark and the vines he uses could easily be brown. At that point would the author call it brown magic XD. At some point the MC was exploring a tower floor that was full of plants. The author highlights a couple of times how plants could have various exotic and alien colours. Then there is his attempt to incorporate our 21st century human science but there is a serious problem. It is repeated that he is really studious regarding anything aether but he has completely disregarded "science" knowledge. In other words we are told that he is really smart and hardworking when it comes to aether but that doesn't actually exist. His green pokemon tries to teach him "science" knowledge as it is a type of subject that heavily relies in good foundations but he acts all dumbly as he can't even learn the most basic knowldge. He has the advantage of his cultivation and the fact that his thinking isn't narrow. He has no reason to found difficulty in studying "science" but he does. There other things like how he acts like a puppet and a wimp cosplaying as hero but the things I brought up were enought for me to stop reading this.
