Just awful. I've never seen this level of filler and padding before, and I've read an absurd amount of Xianxia novels.

MC will throw a dagger, then there are 30 long-ass paragraphs describing why he's using this kind of dagger, where the dagger came from, who created this type of dagger, the environment, the thoughts of him and the people he's fighting, more on why he's using this type of dagger again, a bit on the weather, and everyone's thoughts about what might happen next in the fight.

Then MC throws some follow-up daggers. We again get 30 long-ass paragraphs about why he's throwing these daggers, how they differ from the first daggers, why his enemies can't see them, why these daggers are so useful in this fight, an anecdote about the kid who accidentally created these daggers by mistake, and a description of a dog that just walked by.

Then the first dagger lands. 10 paragraphs. The other daggers land. 20 paragraphs. The people start to think about retaliating. 10 paragraphs. And so on. A scene that lasted 5 seconds ends up being 2 chapters long.

EVERYTHING is stretched to hell. 2/3 of a chapter will go by frequently with absolutely nothing happening. It's just descriptions, thoughts, conjectures, info dumps, and so on.

Absolutely painful experience. People seem to like it, though. If excruciating levels of detail are your bag, I guess give it a shot.

Here's a sample paragraph. Note how it's stretched, padded, and repetitious to the point you want to punch the author in the dick.

He is not the king of evil or anything like that, nor is he the best assassin, he is at most the best warrior. His personality is inconsistent, one moment he says he's cold, another moment he says he's hot-blooded, maybe it's a comedy article? But I didn't find it funny, the story is good for my standards, but the author always says the same things... besides, the work doesn't deliver what it promised, he's not the king of evil, he's not even a decent killer . He is truly a ruthless warrior, but is he that, a patriotic killer? Do not make me laugh...

Read it till 160s, and all I gotta tell is...

Author used up all his potential on first few chapters.

As you move on the chapters it keep getting worse...way to much nonsense fillers.

    Snail pased 🐌_________

    And title is misleading!

    Dropped!

    What is this?
Despite the title that would have you think that this is on the same vein as Warlock of the magus world, it's not, it's actually almost inline with any other xianxia in existence.

The story goes like this, the MC is supposedly the best assassin in the world, but he died trying to get a national treasure that was being taken by a foreigner. This treasure (probably) allowed him to transmigrate into the body of a useless 2nd generation rich grandson of a great general. And the story goes from there.

    The problems
Well one, the title is a bait and switch which may affect how you read the story. It didn't affect me since I don't really care for "evil" MCs anyway. But the problem is the inconsistencies throughout the story with the MC.

The MC is supposed to be evil, but he's actually a paragon of justice. . . but only when the story needs it. He's supposed to be "go against the heavens!", "I will die before I am shamed" but only when it's convenient. So the MC can act inconsistently, but in the end he's still kinda like all the other MCs anyway so it's not too bad.

I dropped at 400 when someone got raped and it was played for laughs (aphrodisiac trope) but what really made me drop it was because the MC came home (not related to the rape anymore) and the author was hamming him up like "oh he's the baddest, he's the coolest" and the MC is like "I won't hide anymore, blah blah blah" but it really came out of nowhere.

IN THE STORY, it was at a point where it was understandable why the MC was thinking that he can be aggressive, but chapter by chapter, at first it was a rape joke then suddenly it was the MC thinking he will be the "Evil Monarch", the shift was just handled too poorly.

But what really made me drop the story, and something that will also affect you whether you are fine with immensely poorly handled rape scenes is that the author is too f#cking wordy!

So many paragraphs (yes! paragraphs!) just to say 1 or 2 things. Just on and on and on, I couldn't take it anymore. At least with a "filler" chapter type of story, you can skip the chapters, but this one has so many filler words to pad out the chapter.

    Conclusion
You'll most likely find some enjoyment with this title, depends on how bored you are. I couldn't take the number of words you have to read just to move the story a little bit. Definitely worth trying, if you don't mind the writing style and the inconsistent MC (not always but it does happen a significant amount) then you might really enjoy this.

      Hmm, a fairly comprehensive review.
Can you explain the rape part a bit? I'm a soft person. Is it the usual, "Oh no! Accidentally, the trap is somehow an aphrodisiac! *Black out* *hours later* Oh no! Did we do it? " "Yes.."
Or the more degenerate way, like "I'll force this drug into you to have my way with you for some nefarious or uncomfortable reason!”
Because the first one isn't rape. Arguably, the drug raped them both.
While the second is highly off-putting.

I wouldn't use the word "gave" in this situation, more like
. It's not the worst but while I don't remember the joke, I do remember that the whole situation was being played for laughs.

One of the girls pursuing him drugged him up with a massive dosage. Then she got cold feet and got the other girl to come rescue her. Girl #1 ran off then, leaving the other who submitted. She got hurt since it was kinda rough. Girl #2 was the MC's brother's fiance, the brother had died before the marriage, but the girl had joined MCs household already and was considered part of the family.

GIrl #1 was too naive, always talking about "cooking the rice" to force MC to marry her, but didn't know how to do it.

There was also racism against the japanese. Personally it was a funny novel and I finished it. But the author has a thing for racism. I've read his other novel too and it's the same.

I got muted in a discord channel for writers because I wanted to discuss about how the chinese literary landscape changed/changes because of their government, lol, I was muted because they thought I was racist xD

it's good that honestly, a lot of what I read in chinese web novels are nationalism at most (having china win international competitions or having the mc with cheat powers in the apocalypse help china first) but yeah, due to the fact that there's so much cn web novels, even if most are nationalism at most, the some that are just nasty is still pretty numerous.

Yeah, I heard if your novel does not promote Chinese nationalism, your novel does not get the promotion it needs or they outright banned you. Something like that, I don't know if it's true though.

I wanted to twist my phone off into pieces of scrap reading this chapter 239..This author really makes the trashiest use of a character he depicts. Jun xie or jun mo xie is supposed to be extremely arrogant to the point that he even plays the strongest people in the world as a fiddle. And yet his mentality goes into gutter trash when faced with feelings(only romantic ones)( because whenever the author creates a scene of the mc with his family he is an emotionally normal guy and talks and feels normally about his family just as anyone would expect and yet with any character of romantic interest his brain takes a vacation(this is also a person who trains every waking moment)and he thinks with his dick every time a romantic scene is created and use the most misunderstandable of sentences and puts up with someone or even the something that irritates him) and this feels soo forced. And from what i have seen till chapter 239 the mc IS NOT AT ALL EVIL. Not one bit. Doesn’t kill someone even when he has the skills, means and motivation necessary to do it. Left an enemy alive that he could have killed the moment he found out about and was skilled enough yet doesn’t and just lets them fester. That does not mean this novel is bad just the romance is trash utter trash.

My first novel, yet even after 3 years of reading eastern fantasy, I strongly recommend Otherworldly Evil Monarch.

Smart MC, realistic and definitely not retarded. OP but not ridiculously invincible. The harem is lovely ( Mei Xue Yan #goat), the action is also great and conspiracies/tricks are really interesting.

I’ve already read a lot of novels, TTNH, A Will Eternal and so on.
If anyone can recommend me a good novel similar to this one ( smart/shameless and funny mc, — no rape, no ridiculously drama and no tragedy.
    I would be grateful. Thanks.

The closest I can think of that have personalities similar to Jun Xie are Complete Martial Arts Attributes and Pocket Hunting Dimension.

Attributes has an MC who's super cheeky, a little crazy, and says some weird stuff all the time.

Pocket Hunting is a lighter novel. He trains with and adventures with a harem of little cuties that he eventually marries. Academy, space arcs, other races invading ect.

Some of the more serious "regressor" type MCs aren't too bad, like Sovereign of Three Realms. Most regressors are total morons, and arrogant as a mountaintop. Not this one, he was a librarian who never cultivated before but his dad made him a potion of eternal life because he couldn't cultivate.

Novel began great but it starts to go slowly downhill right by the middle and the last 300 or so chapters just goes direct to 💩

Frankly, without the usual propaganda, filler writing count padding diarrhea , author's "sagely" insight into women's mind and love advices this novel could have been so much better and shorter. By the last arc I was just skipping chapter after chapter and then it just ends so disappointingly.

TLDR: less than so-so read if you really don't have anything better to do.
