By building up the question, Hypberbola lulls the reader into a false sense of security, reminding them of their society, before completely shattering it by stating that the kid is alive, leaving a lasting impact on the reader. Through the words "never gets old", he specially refers to dark humor in this quote, but metaphorically, he is referring to the darkness of human society as a whole, and their power to destroy all that is good for their own fun. Finally, the author leaves off on a positive note, breaking the stereotype of dead cancer kids through the reveal that this one is still alive. All in all, through this beautiful composition, Hyperbola reveals how, within the darkness deeply rooted within humanity, there is a seed of light and goodness.
