Leo felt a bit surprised after hearing that Elmont had seen Elvis. This was the exact reason why he had ordered Elvis to travel using the secret pathways so that the latter can prevent people from discovering his tracks. Never did he expect that it would become the reason why Elvis would be seen in the end.
"I think you have forgotten, brother Leo," Elmont scratched the back of his head and continued, "In an emergency situation like this, I would never take a path that everyone is taking since a huge crowd would always become a target, especially if we are talking about the Naughty Elves Organization,"
"Haven't you seen me before using a secret passageway in the castle? So, this should be that much surprising to you, right?" Elmont asked in doubt.
"Yeah," Leo could only let out a helpless smile on his face. It seems like no matter how much one hides a secret, some people would sometimes just happen to have the necessary skills to dig them out.
"So, what are you planning to do next? I believe that this time my father hadn't ordered you to hide it from us again, right?" Elmont repeated his question.
"Yeah," Leo doesn't have any choice left now but to admit the truth. After all, Elmont had already seen Elvis. And besides, it's already too late for him to say that the Elvis the latter had seen before could just be a clone since his expression doesn't show even the slightest bit of that being possible.
Moreover, supposed he indeed said that and Elmont sees Elvis again. In that case, the former might try to kill the latter. With the cultivation level of Elvis, Elmont would undoubtedly just end up receiving injuries that could have been avoided from the start. In other words, it's too troublesome to hide the secret. Anyways, Elmont isn't a member of the Naughty Elves Organization, so it's alright to tell him.
"It's about looking for the real Emerald Tree," Leo revealed.
Elmont asked, "What do you mean the real Emerald Tree…?
"It meant exactly as what I said. I ordered Elvis to look for the real Emerald Tree," Leo repeated his words.
"I don't quite understand what you meant. Isn't the Emerald Tree in the Emerald City the real tree?" Elmont doesn't quite understand what's the real Emerald Tree supposed to mean.
"The Emerald Tree we are seeing right now is nothing but a mere branch of the real Emerald Tree. That was the reason why it grew back after the Naughty Elves Organization destroyed it in the past, which also explains why not even a single Magical Beast dared to approach the Emerald Tree City back then," Leo explained.
"So, you're telling me that after all this time we were merely cultivating in a branch and not the real Emerald Tree?" Elmont doesn't believe Leo.
"I know that you are having a hard time believing this to be the truth. That's the reason why I ordered Elvis to investigate and find out whether it is true or not. Of course, we wouldn't have been able to do this without your father's help. He was the one who assigned Elvis for such a job," Leo doesn't care whether Elmont believes him or not since Elvis is currently looking for evidence to prove such assumption. Once Elvis confirms the truth, consequently, everyone would change their opinion.
Hearing Leo's words, Elmont heaves a sigh of relief, "So, you're still not sure about that. I seriously thought that it was the truth,"
"Is there something wrong if the Emerald Tree in the Emerald City is a branch? Wouldn't that be good for the Evergreen Royal Family and the Emerald Tree Kingdom? After all, as long as only your family knew of the truth, the Naughty Elves Organization will never be able to destroy your territory," Leo asked in curiosity.
"Don't get me wrong. It's indeed good for the Evergreen Royal Family if the Emerald Tree on the surface is not the real Emerald Tree. But at the same time, that would be a big scandal once people discover the truth. There's no doubt that the image our ancestors had worked hard to build over the course of four generations would crumble into nothing. I don't want something like that to happen…" Elmont felt downcast. He honestly doesn't want to see the Kingdom that his family had worked extremely hard to build to experience such a huge hurdle.
Elmont stared at Leo with a begging look on his face as he said, "I… I hope that when the time comes that a real Emerald Tree indeed exists, you will help the Evergreen Royal Family deal with the problem that will come afterward…"
"What are you saying? Of course, I would help the Evergreen Royal Family. At the end of the day, all of you are now considered to be a part of my family. Ever since the day that Uncle Elfin introduce me to his family and treated me as a member of it, I have already decided to help you in troublesome times. Just rest assured, nothing bad will happen, I assure you that," Leo promised.
Elmont was instantly stunned after hearing Leo's reply, "You…"
Leo tapped Elmont's shoulder and whispered to his right ear, "Don't worry, we will eventually triumph over our current circumstances. Just have faith in everyone in the Emerald Tree Kingdom,"
Honestly, he wouldn't have said such a cringe line if it wasn't for what he saw in the majority of people during the secret operation earlier ago. Just like how the majority of people in the Lionheart Kingdom helped each other to defeat the Black Organization, most of the people in the Emerald Tree Kingdom also expressed a similar emotion.
In the end, he changed his mind and decided, "With such kind of people living in the Emerald Tree Kingdom, I guess it isn't that half bad to deal with a bit more of trouble,"
In other words, he now saw some value for him to make more sacrifices for the sake of the Emerald Tree Kingdom.
"Thank you…" Elmont expressed his appreciation to Leo. He's really lucky to have such a good friend with him.
"What are you standing there for? The evacuation is about to end and everyone is now entering the secret pathway," Leo called out to Elmont, quickly pulling the latter from his thoughts.
"Coming!" Elmont replied before following behind Leo and the other members of the Mischievous Lion Guild. In his mind, he thought, "I guess my father's plan of letting us join Leo's Guild after this isn't such a bad thought, after all. With Leo leading us, there's no doubt that we would learn a lot and experience many interesting things. Not to mention, we would surely face enemies similar to the Naughty Elves Organization in the future. I truly can't wait for such a day to come!"
Leo was completely oblivious of Elmont's thoughts. But if he knew about the latter's thought, he would shake his head in pity. It might be an interesting thought to join him in his fight against the Gods of the Celestial World. But the consequences of that are they would face a lot of huge risks, and they might even end up losing their lives if they get careless. In his opinion, it's much better to go separate ways after all of this ends, instead of joining the Mischievous Lion Guild. With their capabilities, it wouldn't be that hard for them to similarly gain plenty of experiences and grow even more powerful in the future and become a much better King than Uncle Elfin.
Not long after, Leo and the others finally joined everyone in the evacuation. They arrived last, so they were assigned by Princess Tila to guard the rear against any possible danger.
Fortunately, Orcborg and Bagley were also assigned to guard the rear with them. With these two people present, Leo is confident that they would be able to handle everything that would come their way.
"How's Osborne?" Leo asked in concern.
"He's currently recuperating along with the others who were sent to the clinic. If you want to see him, he's currently at the center of the evacuation, where it is the safest," Orborg replied.
"That's great! I hope he will feel better soon," Leo expressed his good wishes.
"By the way, I am genuinely thankful that you have shown some mercy to Osborne," Orcborg said as he waved his hand and took out a Storage Ring to give it to Loki. He said, "Consider this as my show of appreciation,"
"Although I don't quite like receiving things like this, but knowing you, you'd surely keep on insisting that I accept it. So, to save me from any trouble, I will accept your gift," Leo said before accepting the Storage Ring from Orcborg.
