Chapter 787: Leo’s realization and discovery

Proofreader: M_W Miss Fierce

Ten minutes earlier.

As soon as he finished building the tent on top of the Golem, Leo made a few tiny and inconspicuous cuts around it to give him a view of his entire surroundings.

From the holes, he was able to see that everyone is currently busying themselves with their respective Golems, either trying to do their best to help as many people as possible or to assist the people in getting on top of the Golems.

"This is the perfect opportunity to slip away," Leo thought to himself. Honestly, he had deliberately done this in order to create an opportunity for himself. That's because he had noticed a while ago that Cassandra and the others couldn't distract Elmont successfully. Because of that, he thought of another method to distract the latter.

"But before that, I should check on Brother Elmont first since it is quite troublesome if he notices my plan again," Leo muttered. He wants to see what Elmont is doing before he tries to slip away from this place.

Truthfully speaking, it wasn't that he didn't like it when someone else found out about his plan. Contrary to that, he actually likes it since he would be able to know the extent of a person's intellect. It's just that, this time, he'd like to do this job alone as that would give him a lot of freedom to do whatever he wants to do.

Supposed he decided to take somebody with him, particularly Elmont. In that case, he might have to consider the latter's safety above all. Not to mention, he would also have to prepare some reasonable excuses in advance to explain how he could do a particular action.

Knowing that Elmont is a pretty sharp person, regardless of the excuses he's going to tell the former, theirs a significant chance that he would suspect it and know that he is lying.

Although he somewhat trusts Elmont, it's still not to the point yet that he doesn't mind the latter knowing about his unique capability and the existence of the Fate Cube. It's much better for him if he keeps such an important matter to a limited number of people and in a specific group only, specifically only members of the Mischievous Lion Guild.

At this moment, Elmont is busying himself with making arrangements with all the Golems that the soldiers of the Evergreen Royal Family could use along with both his sisters, Princess Tifa and Princess Tila. Orcborg and Bagley, who were nearby, were also doing the same with their own people.

"It seems like Elmont doesn't have any time to keep on observing me," Leo felt slight relief with his findings. Still, he continued to observe Elmont. There are times when people would pretend to do something to make the others let down their guard and believe that it's alright. Considering that Elmont is also a cunning person, he can't disregard the possibility that he might still be observing him.

"Let's wait for a bit and see whether he is pretending to be busy or not," Leo decided.

With that being said, Leo carried on with observing Elmont.

Time continued to pass, and soon Leo finally noticed something strange. Elmont was still doing the same exact thing. The latter didn't leave his spot even though Princess Tifa and Princess Tila had already left.

"As expected," Leo shook his head helplessly. If he had actually immediately slipped away just now, then there's no doubt that Elmont would have secretly followed behind him. It was the correct choice that he stayed and continued to observe.

"Since that's the case, I have no other choice but to do it the hard way," Leo said as his lips slowly formed into a mischievous smile. He stood up from his spot and moved to the side of his tent. From there, he could see Cassandra and the others. They were looking at him, evidently waiting for him to give the sign that he had already left.

"I am going to leave now," Leo informed Cassandra and the others.

"Have a safe trip and take care of yourself," Cassandra and the other expressed.

After saying his farewell, Leo ordered his Earth Elemental to create a small hole in the center of his body.

He quickly got inside the hole before sending another order to the Earth Elemental to keep hollowing its body straight towards its feet.

Because of that, Leo slid until he reached one of the feet of the Earth Elemental.

"Elmont would certainly not be able to expect this kind of method," Leo thought delightfully.

In the next moment, the Golem briefly stopped moving. During that short time, a hole was formed under his feet.

Seeing the hole, he didn't hesitate and got inside. Following after, the top of the hole was closed by a thin layer of stone.

All of that happened in only a single breath. As such, it didn't seem like the Golem stopped at all.

"All I have to do now is to wait,"

Leo waited for ten minutes before deciding to create a small hole on top of him and summoning a Golem in a toy soldier form to scout the surroundings.

"Finally, everyone had left," Leo didn't waste any more time and destroyed the cover on top of him. Since the surface was thin, it didn't take him long to get himself out of the hole.

The moment he was outside, Leo quickly chose a path and walked inside.

…..

"According to the sign at the entrance, this pathway should lead towards an Alchemy room or something similar to that since the sign was of a bottle similar to what Alchemist use," Leo muttered to himself. However, he took a glimpse at the green-colored String of Fate at his side leading deeper inside this path as he continued, "But according to the Fate Cube, as long as I follow this green-colored String of Fate, I would eventually be able to find Elvis,"

Truth be told, this was actually the main reason why he had only decided to slip away right now. When they got close to this path, he immediately noticed a green-colored String of Fate leading inside.

Initially, he intended to wait for Elvis to report his findings at the safe place or when they were near their destination. But since the latter is close-by, why not just go to him and join in with their investigation, right? Anyways, it wouldn't hurt anyone. To be more precise, it would just be hitting two birds with one stone. And besides, as one of the allies of the Evergreen Royal Family, it's one of his responsibility to make sure that he had escorted everyone inside the secret pathway to the safe place.

"I have no time to waste. Time to go!" Leo muttered.

Leo summoned an Earth Elemental before hopping on top of it.

"Follow the green-colored String of Fate!" Leo said while pointing his hand straight.

Hearing Leo's order, the Earth Elemental grunted and started moving towards the direction that he had pointed.

Along the way, Leo saw other pathways leading towards other places. There were also signs that described where those pathways would lead.

It was only after seeing this sight that Leo realized something in his mind.

"It seems like those signs weren't wrong. As long as I follow this path, I would eventually be able to arrive in an Alchemy room, just like what was written in the sign at the entrance," Leo thought. That's right, none of those signs he had seen from before and now were describing wrong. All of them were correct. Thus as long as he doesn't go into other pathways that he would see along the way, he would soon arrive at those locations that have been written on those signs.

"Elvis was right! Rather than calling it a maze, it's more appropriate to call it a Labyrinth instead," Leo finally understood what Elvis meant with his words before. In his opinion, there's no use making wrong signs to confuse members of the Naughty Elves Organization that will come here. That's because as long as those people don't have a map of this place, it would take years for them to find the real Emerald Tree. As a matter of fact, even if they are given that amount of time, there is still no guarantee that they will really be able to find it.

"Just how long did it take for the Evergreen Royal Family to finish exploring ninety percent of this place? And how many people did they expend here?" Leo asked himself in doubt.

Just from this pathway alone, he had already discovered no less than twenty other paths. And there are still more based on the facts that he still hasn't reached the Alchemy room, and he's also not close to Elvis' location yet. Assuming that all the pathways he had seen along the way would also have a similar number of other paths in them, it would take hundreds of thousands of people to explore ninety percent of this place in less than ten years.

"Let's continue. We would eventually be able to reach there soon. By then, I can ask other people to get answers to my questions," Leo thought to himself.

With that being said, Leo continued following the green-colored String of Fate while riding on his Earth Elemental.
