Its pretty good, I've read the MTL up to ch620

It's a novel with a good sense of fantasy realism instead of brainless idiots who provoke big forces and still survive in other novels

Huh, why is this rated so low? I remember reading 200 chapters in MTL and it was fairly good. MC remains low-key by xianxia standards.

Edit: Have now read all available chapters (80) and while there are a few cases where he appears to be lucky later on, given how this world is its very likely he's being manipulated/played again, like he was before.

He seems to have a hard time with self control as well as learning certain lessons. He can't understand some techniques extremely quickly since he is subconsciously relying on science instead of the cultivation stuff, so relies on popping pills even though he knows the recipe is dangerous for him and he could get addicted, yet he still always continues. Even later when he finds a potential pill to remedy the issue and he says he will stop, he doesn't. He also seems to have become much less cautious than he was initially and seems to believe that there are still people who can be genuine and trustworthy, when literally no one so far has been to him.

It's hard to tell whether these issues with him are caused by him being manipulated, side effects from all the stuff that happened to him in the starting town, backlash from popping pills etc.

For the most part everything is coherent and makes sense as long as you wait long enough for things to be revealed (when it comes to how MC was manipulated at the start for example.) There seems to be 1 example of something that was mentioned and seemingly forgotten, which given how this novel is, its hard to tell whether this is on purpose (as in some character manipulated MC to forget about it) or an accident (author forgot).

Will update this as I get further, currently at Chap 25 and I don't see at all how people think the MC is lucky.

His golden finger is fairly simple. He always has a 1 in 10 chance when he does something properly (talisman making, pill refining, weapon making etc.) to hit a perfect which produces the result perfectly. It seems to not be an actual 1 in 10 chance (I.e. 10% chance of success everytime) but rather if he fails 9 times in a row then he will definetly succeed the 10th time no matter what.

He transmigrates in a place that is already under the control of something evil which turns everyone into puppets connected by red strings, and even though he isn't affected straight away, it's not long before he is and is thus also trapped.

Literally all of his supposed planning and caution doesn't matter at all, as it gets revealed pretty quickly that he's been manipulated and under the control of others from the start - the manipulation seems to make him act much less cautious and reserved than he usually would and thus it gets him trapped with a poisonous Gu insect inside him, alongside the red string.

Maybe things chance later, but he doesn't seem very lucky AT all rn tbh.

I actually like it. Its nothing special and the mc is a bit too lucky but its good enough to pass the time.

I already read this in some mtl, but I dropped it at less than 60 hp. It's an average work, it's the type of work you read to stave off boredom or relieve headaches when reading a work with a complicated plot.
