Chapter 992: Find Out |
Sylas had recognized Voxena immediately, he just didn't care enough to point her out. Even after she said these words, he didn't bother with her very much at all. She was no threat to him. Why would he take his eyes off of the E-Grade right in front of him to spare her the attention?
Yvette had obviously noticed the woman over Sylas' shoulder. To a woman-only organization like Petals of the Seeing Thorn, such a thing was obviously enough to infuriate them. It was just that Yvette had ignored it on purpose.
So long as no one brought it up, things would be just fine.
But the problem was that Voxena had. Now it wasn't just a matter of whether she wanted to let it go or not, it was a matter of their organization's face.
Yvette didn't want to cross Sylas if she didn't have to. Even if she was E-Grade now, when she was in the F-Grade, she had barely missed the cut for the Titan Leaderboard. She knew how hard it was to make it on, and the last thing she wanted was to infuriate a man of this caliber.
That could normally be ignored, especially since Sylas didn't seem to have any strong backing. A dead genius was no longer a genius. Plus, because he was alone and had no backing, his Genes likely didn't have protections on them. Killing him might even give them an opportunity to strengthen themselves if they could do it secretly enough.
The main problem was Nyssa.
The Florineth Race was one of the most powerful Races in the galaxy, standing just a half-step beneath the Thryskai along with the Race of four-armed monsters, the Trakar.
Not only this, but the women of that Race were particularly strong, so one could imagine the sort of presence they had in the Petals of the Seeing Thorn.
Once that happened, she would likely be able to easily crush the likes of Yvette with a single finger. No, maybe even that would be too much of an exaggeration. It was more like a single breath would be enough.
Yvette felt a flicker of discontent in her heart because of all these reasons after Voxena spoke. On the one hand, if she let this go, this would definitely get back to their elders and then she would suffer a silent blackballing.
If she took action and offended Sylas, and this led back to Nyssa and her elder sister… then she would suffer a not so silent blackballing.
She didn't even know which was worse.
Voxena was truly forcing her hand.
The women of Petals of the Seeing Thorn all looked toward her at the same time as Yvette's eyes slowly shifted to Lorien who hung over Sylas' shoulder.
"Do you have an explanation for this?" Yvette asked calmly.
Sylas didn't answer immediately, understanding the implication in Yvette's words. She didn't want to take action if she didn't have to.
"What is going on here, exactly? Why has this place become a battlefield?"
Yvette's eyes narrowed. She didn't like how Sylas didn't answer her question directly, she had given him more than enough leeway and respect despite being an entire tier above him.
However, she understood well enough that this was an out.
"I'm not sure where you've been, but the galaxy is in a state of unrest right now. This place has become a battlefield because the guilds that once evenly divided up its territory have almost all been wiped out. The bazaar is now probably one of the most dangerous places."
"As far as I know, this bazaar only allows those of the F-Grade to enter. So how did you?"
This time, Yvette couldn't hide her frown.
"We have our methods."
"In other words, your Will is not a direct representation of your actual current strength."
Yvette's heart skipped a beat.
"… What are you trying to say?" Yvette's eyes narrowed.
Sylas' gaze shifted away from her, landing on Voxena for the first time. The muscular woman felt as though her entire body had fallen into an ice cellar.
It was the second time she had suffered such a gaze from Sylas, but this time, Sylas' Will and Charisma were on a completely different level than anything they had been on before.
He raised his free hand and flicked a finger.
BANG!
It was as though a gun had been fired, the concentrated claw so powerful it crossed through the air in an instant.
Voxena's head snapped back and a silence fell. She stood there for a long while before she slowly slumped to the ground, a bloody hole resting in her forehead.
She fell through the cloud, plummeting toward the ground. Her body spun, pushed and pulled by the wind as though she was a ragdoll until she slammed into the ground in a heap.
"About as expected." Sylas said.
He didn't even kill Voxena because he was angry. He did it to test something, and it seemed that he was correct.
Not only was this bazaar limited to F-Grades, but as far as Sylas knew, it was limited to Level 30 as well.
Yet, he was here somehow.
Right now, Sylas was Level 50. He had no business being here either.
However, he hadn't entered through natural means, and there was a suppression on him now that he had assumed came from the fact his system had yet to integrate with the Skai Galaxy's just yet. It was a suppression—or discomfort, rather—he felt every time he stepped outside of Earth.
It seemed that he was wrong, though. This suppression was here because of the bazaar, and it was naturally weaker around him because his Will was not only shockingly strong… but he swam around in these Runes like they were a breath of fresh air for no reason other than his Spark Mastery.
Now that left an interesting question.
Why were these people so intent to control a vacant bazaar?
It seemed that he should find out.
