Book 4: Chapter 43 (1)

“Heavenly Code?” The general, his flesh mangled and blurred, stared at Zhong Shan with widened eyes. He was observing this audacious man in the Golden Core stage who dared to name his shallow creation “Heavenly Code.”

Of course, the general couldn’t speak anymore. His internal organs were exposed, his body almost split in half. How could he still be alive? He could only close his eyes with a heart full of frustration and regrets.

The name “Heavenly Code” given to the blade technique by Zhong Shan seemed a bit arrogant, but Zhong Shan knew what its future held. Currently, it was just a dream, but in the future, it would undoubtedly live up to its name.

In that brief moment, if the general had intentionally avoided it, he might have survived. However, Zhong Shan had used a series of actions to leave the general no time to react. First, Zhong Shan used the “Red Phoenix Mist Command” to distract the general for a split second. Although the general quickly regained his senses, it disrupted his overall situational awareness. When the thunderbolt suddenly appeared, the general instinctively swung his blade to meet it, but in doing so, he let his guard down below. This momentary lapse led to a fatal mistake, one he wouldn’t live to regret.

While this strike had demonstrated the power of the “Heavenly Code,” it was more a display of Zhong Shan’s intelligence, a matter of life and death on a razor’s edge.

Yet another Nascent Soul stage expert had fallen at the hands of Zhong Shan.

Rising to the surface slowly, Zhong Shan quickly left the scene and sought out a secluded valley. Entering a cave, Zhong Shan sealed the entrance with rocks before examining the newly acquired Ink Jade Talisman.

The Ink Jade Talisman had completely transformed into a thin piece of ink jade, adorned with peculiar runes. The patterns were incredibly intricate, and the more Zhong Shan looked at them, the more he felt that there were countless runes intertwining. Gradually, he began to experience a sense of mental confusion.

Shaking his head, Zhong Shan immediately closed his eyes and focused, sweat dripping from his forehead. He took a deep breath before opening his eyes again and examining the Ink Jade Talisman.

How was this talisman hidden?

Zhong Shan channeled his true essence towards it.

“Hum~~~”

The Ink Jade Talisman disappeared? Zhong Shan’s eyes widened in astonishment. He then directed his spiritual consciousness into his dantian because he had felt a slight tremor there just a moment ago. His spiritual consciousness entered.

A vast aura of pure Yang enveloped him, and at its core, the Ink Jade Talisman simply hung in mid-air.

“Huh?” Zhong Shan was slightly surprised.

He attempted to guide his spiritual consciousness, and the aura of pure Yang flowed gently, causing the Ink Jade Talisman to return to his hand abruptly.

Seeing the Ink Jade Talisman reappear in his hand, Zhong Shan couldn’t help but swallow his saliva. He knew he had struck gold this time.

Once again concealed within his dantian, Zhong Shan’s spiritual consciousness tried to delve into it. However, the periphery of the Ink Jade Talisman seemed to block his entry with an unusual energy.

Zhong Shan carefully examined it and discovered that the Ink Jade Talisman didn’t absorb the aura of pure Yang or emit any talismanic energy while it was inside his dantian. It merely resided there.

Zhong Shan wasn’t in a hurry. If it didn’t interfere with him, he would explore it later.

After tidying up, Zhong Shan left the cave without intending to return and headed for the Yu Heng Sect.

———————————————————————————-

After Zhong Shan retrieved the Ink Jade Talisman, the area above the secluded spring in the Great Qin City trembled. Despite the united efforts of the pursuing experts, they were unable to breach the Great Qin City.

Bai Ye, singlehandedly wielding the Blood Blade, managed to fend off all the powerful pursuers.

The Venerable Arhat of Wisdom, the Eighth Demon Lord, and Mr. Shui Jing, three peak-level experts, joined forces but were completely stopped by the formidable Bai Ye.

“Boom~~~”

Bathed in a sea of blood, Bai Ye once again cleared the way by sweeping away the three major experts.

Mr. Shui Jing furrowed his brow slightly, while the Eighth Demon Lord and the Venerable Arhat of Wisdom wore expressions of astonishment. Bai Ye was simply too powerful.

Meanwhile, the other pursuers continued their assault on the Great Qin City.

“Whoosh~~~”

Suddenly, within the Great Qin City, a faint sigh echoed. However, the sound was too weak, and with the continuous bombardment from outside, it went unnoticed.

The pursuers renewed their attack on the Great Qin City, but then, suddenly, within the city’s center, at the Purple Jade Coffin, the pale-faced Emperor opened his eyes in a strange manner.

The Emperor had opened his eyes? However, his eyes were entirely red, like the blind dragon from earlier, entirely red, with no whites or pupils.

The experts among the pursuers had been relentlessly bombarding the Great Qin City, and they hadn’t noticed anything unusual until the Emperor’s body suddenly stood upright.

Eerily standing straight.

The people besieging the Great Qin City suddenly froze, seemingly immobilized, and all stared at the Purple Jade Coffin. They felt every hair on their bodies stand on end. Had the Emperor not died?

The attackers behind them also fell silent, and Bai Ye and others wearing puzzled expressions, all gazed strangely at the Great Qin City when they saw the Emperor suddenly stand up. Everyone felt a chill down their spines.

Suddenly, the Emperor opened his mouth, revealing two blood-red fangs, and let out a roar into the sky.

“Roar~~~”

The entire Great Qin City trembled, with various objects inside shaking uncontrollably. Down below, within the secluded spring, a vast Yin energy surged out once again, but this time, it avoided the Great Qin City.

“Boom rumble rumble~~~~~~”

Distant mountains and rivers trembled continuously, the sound was so deafening that even Nascent Soul stage experts winced in pain, covering their ears.

Hundreds of Nascent Soul stage experts outside the Great Qin City were seen rolling frantically in mid-air, clutching their ears.

Even Gu Lin suddenly turned pale. If it weren’t for Mr. Shui Jing providing him with energy by placing a hand on Gu Lin, he would have ended up like those generals, rolling on the ground from the shockwaves.

It wasn’t just sound waves; the Emperor’s roar seemed to shake the entire surrounding space, swaying as though it would topple everyone. Even Princess Qianyou’s face turned deathly pale.

With a thunderous cry, as the Emperor looked up, two massive jet-black wings suddenly burst forth from behind the dragon robe on his back.

These huge wings resembled those of bats, but their bones were covered in dragon scales.

The wings spread out rapidly, and in an instant, they swept away the talismans in front of eight zombie guards.

The Heavenly Seal of the Heavenly Dynasty and the black sacred sword were tossed into the Purple Jade Coffin. The massive dragon scale wings moved so quickly that no one could see how the Emperor had moved. In the next moment, the Emperor appeared in front of Bai Ye.

Emperor Bai Ye had absolutely no power to resist; he was grabbed by the Emperor, and the dragon scale wings shielded them. The Emperor opened his mouth, and two blood-red fangs pierced Bai Ye’s neck, swiftly draining his blood.

“Go~~~~~~” Mr. Shui Jing wasted no time, grabbing Gu Lin and retreating.

However, within the Great Qin City, a fleeting figure suddenly appeared in front of Mr. Shui Jing. Mr. Shui Jing reached out with his hand.

“Boom~~~~~~”

“Splurt~~~~~~”

With a loud explosion, Mr. Shui Jing spewed a mouthful of blood and was enveloped by black energy. Nevertheless, he managed to pull Gu Lin away using the force from that palm and escaped.

Inside the Great Qin City, there weren’t just one or two figures, but eight of them. The Emperor’s eight guards suddenly shot off in all directions.

“Boom~~~~~~”

“Splurt~~~~~~”

With one palm, the Eighth Demon Lord clashed with a zombie guard’s hand, and despite coughing up blood, he managed to escape with the blazing flames of evil.

“Boom~~~~~~”

“Splurt~~~~~~”

The Venerable Arhat of Wisdom also clashed palm to palm with a zombie guard, his face filled with horror, before turning to run.

These were all peak-level experts, and none of them dared to confront the zombie guards head-on.

Another zombie guard appeared in front of Princess Qianyou.

He raised his palm, his eyes glaring fiercely, and his aura surged. His face met the zombie guard’s without flinching.

As for An Da, he grabbed Princess Qianyou and left behind only a faint afterimage, swiftly escaping to a distant place.

“Boom~~~~~~”

“Splurt~~~~~~”

An Er coughed up a mouthful of blood, but using his great strength, he quickly escaped as well.

They fled, and all the peak-level experts, along with their respective companions, managed to escape. However, would the generals of the Great Qin Dynasty with only Nascent Soul stage cultivation manage to escape?

With a resounding crash, they were all obliterated by the zombie guards. Even the legion commander of the combined-stage was killed by the zombie guards.

After annihilating everyone, the eight guards surrounded the Emperor.

The Emperor released Bai Ye after draining his blood. Bai Ye had offered no resistance, and the once entirely red eyes of the Emperor had now returned to normal, with whites and pupils visible. With a slight movement, the dragon scale wings folded back, and a strong sense of excitement flickered in the Emperor’s eyes.

Looking up at the sky, the Emperor burst into laughter, “Hahaha~~~~~~~~~~”

A series of joyous laughter rang out from the Emperor’s mouth, a triumphant voice of newfound life. The surrounding space trembled, not ceasing until twenty breaths later. Across from him, Bai Ye, who had regained his senses, opened his eyes, gazing directly at the Emperor. He then knelt in the empty air.

“I pay my respects to Your Majesty,” Bai Ye said, bowing.

The Emperor glanced at Bai Ye and then at the Great Qin City. With a turn of his hand, the Great Qin City seemed to shrink and quickly flew towards the Emperor. With a flick of his sleeve, the city was placed within his sleeve.

Looking up at the moon setting in the mountains, dawn was approaching.

“Let’s go~~~~~~” The Emperor said and then stepped forward.

Bai Ye quickly stood up and followed behind the eight guards, disappearing into the forest.
