This is a time of great powers: The vast Persia, Sparta that was founded by force, Athens with its trade and business, Thebes the rising star, The ambitious Macedonia, The twin heroes of the Western Mediterranean, The rising Rome and so on.

This is an era of brilliant stars: Agesilaus II – the last king of Sparta, Epaminondas – the Rising General of Thebes, Philip II – the founder of Macedonian’s hegemon, Dionysius – the tyrant of Syracuse, Camillus – the Roman dictator and savior…

This is an era of contention among a hundred schools of thought: Plato – the great philosopher, Antisthenes – founder of cynicism, Pythagoras – school of number, Democritus – the encyclopedia scholar, Hippocrates – the father of western medicine, Aristophanes – the great dramatist…

What will the hero bring to the world when he comes to this age as a humble mercenary through rebirth? Collapse

This is a pretty long review ——
Honestly speaking this is one of the best kingdom building novels in my opinion. While the mc is a reincarnated young Chinese official, there is barely any talk about this except the beginning (while some people complained about nationalism, but I think they’re just being insecure and excessive). I can say this as a person who didn’t like learning about history when I was in school, I really liked learning about the history of Greece, Italy, and Carthage, etc. from this novel as the author added a lot of historic information but didn’t make it boring nor did he add it all at once. There were even multiple times where I searched up the different maps, ancient words, and people used in this to understand everything better, which made me learn a lot more from this book about the ancients then I learned from any history class gloom
Anyway I recommend this, and like a few people said there was some bad translation in the beginning but it’s still understandable and much better than mtl. Plus it gets much better as the book goes on so don’t worry too much about that. Also the chapters are long with 840 chapters already which I really like, I only wish the translation speed was faster. The part I like about this book the most other than the immersion is the multiple side characters and how we also know about their stories as well. I wish the fandom was updated with all of them though since there are so many.

Only 250 chapters in but I can say this book is great. There are some issues.
    1. The translation is terrible. Dozens of grammar mistakes each chapter with some lines simply not being understandable
    2. The story is disconnected. Oftentimes, something new will be introduced out of nowhere and the author might include a brief explanation in parentheses but a few times, he does not. Also he forgets things occasionally and contradicts himself with some of the names(this is fixed by the translators). You kinda have to assume when a timeskip happens and how long it is as there is very little indicator.
    3. The mc does not feel developed all that well. There have only been 3 or 4 scenes where he makes any reference towards his past life and these scenes are 1 or 2 sentences. Additionally, we don’t get much insight into his thoughts after he founds his country.
    4. The pacing is quite slow. There is a lot of repeated explanation which inevitably slows down much of the story. Additionally, the author falls into the annoying trap of spending too much time praising the mc.

However, it’s also because there is so much explanation that I think the story is fantastic. The amount of research the author did is incredible with explanation for each event, character, and tradition. There are Wikipedia pages in the actual story in case you want to do your own research as well.
The story is highly immersive and realistic. Unlike other stories where the mc makes unreasonable leaps forward in technology(cough cough tyranny of steel cough cough), the development of the mcs country is well paced. He takes most of his inspiration of Rome. The mcs battles are not guaranteed either and rather than simply destroying his enemies, he uses a combination of clever tactics combined with troop discipline to win battles.

Also unlike other stories where the mc has a perfect memory and has no problems doing anything(cough cough tyranny of steel again cough cough), here, the mc was a civil worker in his last life explaining why he has administrative skills. He does not perfectly remember anything and he isn’t even that well versed in Greek history(though he does know more than the average person). It feels like the mcs progress is truly deserved.

Again unlike other stories(do I need to say which story I’m referencing again), the cast is reasonable. The characters are developed so that you can see all of their distinct personalities. While there is obviously rape and murder, it is not promoted as a good thing nor is it really described beyond simply being rape and murder. The mc is even sort of pacifistic to me(instead of being vengeful, he allies and slowly takes control of those who murdered his people).

Overall amazing story. If you like history, especially Greek history(of course you do, why else are you looking at the reviews of an alt history Greek novel), then this story is great for you.

Hello everyone, hope you guys are having a wonderful game. I was just wondering if the tag 'Weak to Strong' in this novel means that the MC becomes infinitely stronger and can become as terrifying as a God or will the MC be limited by mortal bounds and just be a stronger man close to a body-builder or something like that. Thank you for your time and have a nice day ! kef
