Cthulhu Gonfalon is a story about a man who woke up in another world. After a drink over his loss in a game, Sui Xiong ended up in the middle of the sea. Surprisingly, he now found out he no longer existed in a human shape but in a spirit state without any flesh. In order to survive and find a way to return to Earth, he then searched for a body to accommodate his spirit. After several confrontations with some creatures under the sea, he decided to settle for a jellyfish flesh. This Jellyfish was extraordinarily huge. With its tentacles, it caught others’ spirits to nurture its own power. In this world, Sui Xiong wasn’t only matchlessly powerful but he also had an ability to cast magic. With this gifted ability and combined with his knowledge from the civilized world on Earth, he could help a deceased person resurrect, change a person’s look, and do tons of other crazy things that he didn’t know.

As his journey to discover this world went on, he encountered many bizarre and mystic creatures along the way, who were Gods, Humans, Devil Beasts, Giant Dragons and lots of other undetermined organisms. Some of them might insanely worship him, while others hated him. Some might become his enemies. Some might end up becoming his teammates in the end. From a gamer on Earth to here, he became a God (even he himself could not verify this yet), had his own religion and even a church with a Holy Land to fight for justice.

What kind of world is this? What kind of existences might live in this world? What kind of secret this world owns? Can Sui Xiong return to Earth?

Keep on following the story to find out the answers for those questions.

Little explanation about Cthulhu: Cthulhu has been described in appearance as resembling an octopus, a dragon and a human caricature, hundreds of meters tall, with webbed human-looking arms and legs and a pair of rudimentary wings on its back. Cthulhu’s head is depicted as similar to the entirety of a gigantic octopus, with an unknown number of tentacles surrounding its supposed mouth. Collapse

This has an interesting premise, a cool world, and decent grammar, but the style kinda ruins it. As many others have said, this is just plain old boring. The author likes using a lot of words when brevity would be prefered, and sometimes this results in superfluous statements that are completely unnecessary.

For example "The bipedal dragon’s meat was very tough and chewy, but it was not difficult to chew". There is nothing wrong with that sentence per se, but it could be written in a more aesthetic manner, and when many of these kinds of sentences are put together, reading the novel becomes a chore.

He also tends to describe some things in excruciating detail only for it to never be brought up again, which quickly becomes extremely tedious. Finally, the author LOVES exposition dumps. The man wrote about 7 paragraphs describing orcs, their history, their culture, their eating habits, how they shit and much more, which would be fine if it was relevant but IT WASN'T! This information wasn't useful to have in any way since there were no orcs anywhere near the mc or his follower, so the existence of that half a page of exposition becomes redundant. The only reason the author put it there was because the region the mc was in had orcs living in it somewhere. I skipped that entire chapter and lost absolutely nothing.

But even so, below all the boring bullshit and excessive word vomit there are hints of a very interesting story so I keep reading.

This one is a half-way between a mess and a smorgasbord. I wouldn't say that it's bad, since there are just a lot of web novels (in particular) that are quite difficult to label. . . that being said, I didn't say that it was good either.

    What is this?
This is a transmigration story of an artist of the modern world that through different situations, came to possess the body of a jellyfish. He is stuck with the jellyfish body but not really that important since his body is practically just a coat he can't easily remove.

It doesn't end there though. This is also a bit of a fantasy adventure, just a tiny bit of cultivation with the tiered power levels, but also a good amount of kingdom building. . .

    Yeah, it's a lot.

    Who is this for?

If you're a fan of Magus of the wizard world or similar titles, yeet the f#ck out. You will NOT like this, under no circumstance. This could be the last available lit on earth and I'm 100% sure that you'd choose to masturbate to a rock than read this.

The MC is a modern dude, he's not a modern dude for a day then kills everyone that looks at him funny after some bandit encounter. He's a modern dude, with modern values. Me, and I think most people, are actually fine with this, but those who want cutthroat MCs, nope, this jellyfish ain't it.

Another thing to look out for, even if you are fine with "good" MCs, is that this one is a bit of a busybody, I'd say your millage may vary depending on your limit. I'm somewhere in the middle when it comes to MCs, to me it was just a tad bit grating on the annoying end on how much of a goody two shoes he is. If you are on the opposite extreme of fans who like cutthroat MCs then you'll like this more.

Other than that, it's difficult to answer just who will enjoy this eclectic piece of literature.

The biggest problem I would say is though, is that it can be so f#cking boring. There was a drawn out fight, not because it was long and nobody was winning, but because the author was describing everything in detail when it's all useless in the end.

    Conclusion
Meh, I guess try reading a couple dozen chapters? Might even be worth bookmarking and reading from time to time. I'm about to drop it, I don't know, so f#cking boring. But it's really better than a lot of other works. It's like, of all the bad works, this one just passes the mark into readable territory.

So, read if you're more bored than bored, so you'll end up only bored.
