A young man without an ability in an ability holders’ world. Due to the sudden and catastrophic appearance of dimensional gates and rifts. The planet has undergone many changes. Those changes include but not exclusive to awakening abilities in humans.

With these Awakened Abilities, the humans were able to fight back against the monsters, beasts, demons, and other creatures that poured out of the gates and rifts. A few decades passed with humanity’s survival through countless sacrifices and now, that brings us to our story.

Randy, a young man who could not awaken his ability had to not only face the frustration of not being able to awaken his ability but also, the constant bullying of his colleagues at school. A chance meeting will change his fate for the better or for the worse?

Chapter 1 — 8 of the novel is essentially just a prologue of the novel and it does not impact it too much, so you can skip it if you’re averse to things like torture or anything that could induce negativity.

Then again, I am not saying that chapter 1 to chapter 8 are less important but some readers might not like it as I’ve discovered. So I thought about putting it here just in case.

    Read up to Chapter 69, and whilst the story itself is pretty decent, there are some definite annoying parts.

    His parents constantly called him useless and were cold and basically emotionally abusive to him for years when he didn't unlock his powers.

    His "childhood friend" decided to listen to her mother and lies to MC in order to avoid and not spend time with him anymore because he didn't have powers.

    Both the "friend" and his parents got a Chapter where the author comes up with some excuses so that he can make them all make up and stuff.

        So I dropped it after 80 or so, but went ahead and read those 2 chapters, so I may be missing some context of why he's thinking back to that time.

        From what i can tell, the author decided to retcon what happened before, likely because many people, like me, also didn't like how he handled it. From reading these retcons, it makes things much less annoying, so I probably will actually continue reading this now.

        It supposedly reads like these chapters show how he really felt, but theres some clear discrepancies between the original and this "recollection".

        Original:
        "Why would I hate you?" 

        Randy answered without thinking much of his question, seemingly could not understand why his father would suddenly ask such a question. 


        Recollection:
        "Why would I hate you?" 

        'Of course, I hate you all, do you really want me to tell you that face to face?' Randy silently this to himself in irritation.




        Original:
        Despite all that he had to bear with all this time, he never once cried about it, however when he heard his mother's voice just now, Randy was almost at the brink of tearing up himself, as all his pent-up emotions gradually surfaced at this moment.


        Recollection:
        'Damn it! You people do whatever you like. Do you think I don't have any emotions too? Do you think I don't want to cry out my frustration right now? Why are you the ones crying and acting innocent and righteous as if this was not your fault?' Randy inwardly complained as he was suddenly overwhelmed by all the pent-up emotions that made him want to cry out loud at this moment.




        Original:
        "Dad, what did you say?" 

        Randy asked after seeing that his father was saying something, he could only vaguely hear the last part of his sentence.


        Recollection:
        "Dad, what did you say?" Randy pretended that he didn't hear him. Even though he was no longer in his assimilated state, his senses were still better than before.


        Before, he also told his parents almost everything about his powers stating that, since its his parents, its fine.

        So clearly twisting the words of the original to fit this retcon, but luckily the retcon makes things way better, so I'm happy with it.

        Again, this is without reading anything between Chap 80ish and 156, so perhaps there's a proper explanation within there that makes this not a retcon, but from where I am atm it defo looks like one.

    Read all available chapters and it’s a good read. Somewhat similar to that my vampire system novel but I do dislike how he just forgives his parents for treating him as a massive disappointment and verbally abusing him for years and he just says he understands there must be a reason why they treated him like that but he can’t know the reason until he gets stronger? His parents also discuss by themselves somewhat that they treated him like that to motivate him to get stronger by himself and work harder. He was already working his ass off torturing himself just to awaken an ability so other than this part hitch quite pissed me off I really do enjoy the novel. Well written and very interesting 8/10

    MC puts himself into dangerous situations because of his pride and should have rightfully died about 3 times by chapter 150. Like he has no qualms using his moms grimoire, but doesn’t tell them he’s about to confront a dangerous gang of stalkers? Like I get needing to go through actually dangerous situations to temper urself, but the MC has literally no need to do so. Anyways the book’s written well, 7/10 for me

    I read until 39 chapter, it lacks world building. mc personality kind of cautios and hardworking because of constant bullying and how his important family one become distant or look down on him(from his perppectivr) but the one that I don't like is when he awaken he spill all of his secret to his best friend he become naive and idiot for some reason. But it was written well.

      Personally it made sense to me bc that friend is the only one that actually stuck with him when he was powerless. Also, the friend is hella smart so it’d be helpful to have a trusted outside perspective

        I understand what you mean but this is just my personal opinion it's just naive that he explain one by one how he's skill works to the friend? It's the same telling him all of he's weaknesses from how story goes from all experience he have, he should develop a trust issues especially from what happen to childhood friend the suddenly change because how her parents pressure her what make he thinks this guy is not the same for example the villain that want to kill him because of his hair is a influencial clan can torture this guy whole family to spill all his secret that he just tell i can go on how many disadvantages spilling all his secret but i gonna stop because it's idiotic that he fcvking even hide it to his whole family but immedietely tell the friend. Anyway, I think author just want to make the friend like a brother that can MC trust but do it in the wrong way if he did it like tellling the friend little by little the secret that would make sense to me.
