Chapter 775: Grand-finals part 8

Proofreader: M_W Miss Fierce

Leo's already damaged shield broke into multiple pieces after it received Osborne's forceful kick. He has no other choice but to let go of it and run away before the latter could launch another attack on him.

Deep inside, he knows that he would easily lose to Osborne in a melee fight. Just the difference of both of their strength alone is already something he can't reach. But this wasn't because he was physically weak. Instead, Osborne is a member of the Orc race, a race generally known to have superior physical strength compared to the majority of races in the Celestial World.

His only choice now is to look for another method that he can gain an advantage from.

"Are you always going to keep on running?" Osborne scoffed. He added, "When would this sort of scene stop from repeating over and over again? You were running against Eme Clarity, against Edgar Pierce, and now you are also running against me. Don't you feel humiliated with your action? Think about it, once you win the Emerald Elven Battle Competition, the people won't speak highly about your triumph. Rather, they would say; the Guild Leader of the Mischievous Lion Guild won the Emerald Elven Battle Competition by running away!"

"If that's going to be your title anyway, then you might as well just give up the title of the champion to me. After all, you hate dealing with troublesome things, right?" Osborne suggested with a mocking tone in his voice.

"Regardless, a win is still a win," Leo was completely unaffected by Osborne's mockery. In his opinion, whether one wins in an honorable way or not, some people would still talk badly about them. So, why bother? At the end of the day, the person who won the fight would be the one to benefit from all the rewards. And that's what matters.

"I couldn't agree more. But that title would spread about you wherever places you would go. People would laugh at you. You will become an object for people to scorn. And most importantly, because people view you as nothing but a mere weakling, they would treat you as a pushover. Meaning to say, trouble after trouble would come after you, and they will never end since this title would forever tarnish the great name of Guild Leader Loki," Osborne rebutted.

Leo was stunned momentarily after he heard of Osborne's explanation. That's right! A person's fame and title would reflect on how people would treat them wherever they go. Although the Emerald Tree Kingdom couldn't necessarily influence other territories, but as he becomes more and more popular along with the Mischievous Lion Guild, no matter how minuscule information about him is, people would still find out about them eventually. In the end, every information about him would spread. And because that would include how he happened to be infamous for winning by running away, it would invite trouble from the majority of forces in the territories he would visit in the future.

In addition to that, just like how Osborne had reacted when he had proposed something to the latter, people would also become cautious and suspicious about him, fearing that he would scheme against them that would make them end up with a significant loss.

That would be something he doesn't want. Although he is a schemer, he doesn't want people to be afraid of him in their first meeting just because of that. There's no doubt that their initial opinion about him would affect many things in any sort of discussion. As a result, it would also affect the development of the Mischievous Lion Guild.

And what's worst is, that's just a tiny portion of all possible troubles that would come after him. He just can't think about all of them because he is also paying close attention to Osborne, who is currently chasing after him.

Initially, he had nothing to lose with this fight against Osborne, which caused him some trouble becoming serious in the fight. Also, he believed that no matter how much Osborne triggers him, it would all have no effect on him since he hardly loses his cool. But now that the latter had made him realize something….

"Good, good, good," Leo grew increasingly excited as he finally had a reason to become serious.

Hearing this, Osborne immediately halted his footsteps while wearing a delighted look on his face. This was precisely what he wanted. That's why he kept on triggering Leo. Fortunately, it didn't take him that long to achieve it. Knowing Leo, he was honestly expecting that he would keep on having excuses for everything and argue otherwise, just like what he did a moment ago.

Without wasting any time, Osborn cast a Magic spell in front of him, "Earth Wall!"

Whoooosh! Whoooosh!

Two earth walls interlining each other appeared in front of Osborne.

"Are you really that afraid of me?" Leo asked as he slowly turned around to face Osborne.

"Not really. I am just cautious of your next action, especially now that you are serious," Osborne replied.

"And it's all thanks to you," Leo said while he simultaneously unsummoned his Earth Elementals and summoning them again in front of him.

Osborne instantly felt disbelief after seeing Leo's action. He muttered, "Are you seriously going to use them against a single opponent?"

"Of course," Leo nodded his head.

"But I thought that you were going to be serious?" Osborne asked in doubt.

"Don't be mistaken. I am not planning of using these Golems to attack you," Leo clarified. He sent an order to his Earth Elementals telepathically, ordering them to surround the two of them and leave no possible way to escape.

"What are you doing?" Osborne started retreating. But he soon noticed that while he was trying to flee away, Leo would step forward, and the Golems surrounding him would also make some adjustments.

"I plan on making this stage even smaller, where none of us could escape," Leo replied.

"Are you insane?!" Osborne couldn't believe what he had just heard from Leo.

"Wasn't this what you wanted? No method to escape, we will fight by exchanging blow after blow and see who can remain standing until the very end," Leo smiled mischievously. He was simply doing what Osborne had asked him to do. To stop running and fight him. The only difference is, he is taking it to another level, where there is no more method to run.

"Are you sure about this?" Osborne still doesn't believe that Leo is really going to do this.

"I am sure. So please stop moving around and get yourself inside the circle," Leo prompted.

"Okay…" Osborne finally decided to agree. Well, if he keeps on retreating, Leo would just continue to chase after him. By then, he would be the one running away from the latter, which is entirely different from what he had always been talking about until now.

With that being said, the Earth Elementals soon formed a circle with both Leo and Osborne inside. The size of the ring wasn't that big. It merely had a twenty meters diameter of free space at the center.

It was exactly as Leo had said. With that size, none of them would be able to escape. As a matter of fact, they would even have difficulty dodging each of their attacks.

Seeing this, Osborne could already expect that neither of them would be dodging. They would do just like what Leo had mentioned 'Trade blow for blow until only one of them remains standing'. Honestly, this doesn't seem bad. After all, he had the advantage in physical strength here. All of the attacks he could land on Leo would undoubtedly cause severe damage to his body. The worst case scenario that could happen is he will break a few of his bones.

Regardless, Osborne decided to make sure not to accidentally cripple Leo while silently hoping that the latter would also do the same to him.

No matter how stupid of an action this may seem, Osborne knew that Leo would not do something that would bring him nothing but trouble only. There should be something at play here. That's why the latter decided to do this. He believes that even if there is trouble, there should be a fair amount of benefits for Leo to gain from doing this.

Osborne asked inside his mind, "Would the Golems help Leo if ever he is at a disadvantage? Not likely, since that would be against what he is hoping to achieve. Then are there traps around the Golems, especially since he unsummoned them first before summoning them again? For example, are there Fireball spells embedded on their bodies?"

Remembering the previous time in the passageway, Osborne started observing the Golems closely, wanting to see if there happened to be any Magic circles of a Fireball spell.

"This is really strange," Osborne concluded after seeing that there were actually no Magic circles of the Fireball spell in any of the Golems. But he still didn't give up and continued searching for any possible methods that could give Leo any sort of advantage. While on the other hand, causing him to be at a disadvantage.

However, no matter how long Osborne looked around his surroundings, he could still not find any. As a matter of fact, there's practically none.
