As the owner of an ordinary bookstore, Ling PingAn’s biggest wish was to muddle through life and do absolutely nothing.

However, customers that were right in the middle of their pubescent crisis kept visiting his store in the dead of night.

For the sake of his business, Ling PingAn had to mimic their childish tones, sparing no effort to promote the books in his store.

When he finally managed to sell his books after going through a great verbal tug-o-war, each and every one of them said that they don’t have money, and that they wish to use various tools that were seemingly divine artifacts as pledge.

Looking at these customers, Ling PingAn could only agree to them resignedly.

But little did he know that every single book that these customers purchased from him had altered in appearance.

«Secrets of Cosplay» became «Lower Abyss Research Report»

«Stellaris: Settings for Synth Ascension» was in fact «Gospel for Synthetic Beings»

What’s more, in the eyes of these customers, he was actually a horrifying ruler of Diablos, an indefinable entity that held the reins of all realms.

In this regard, Ling PingAn said, «I’m not, I didn’t, don’t talk nonsense. Collapse

The most annoying thing about reading a Chinese novel is the extreme nationalism, we ignore most of it, but the racism and all of that is extremely irritating. For them it's normal lol

It does get annoying after your x number of web novel having Chinese nationalism and racist propaganda in the story, but you learn to tune it out after a while. It's the same in America. Only difference is that there aren't a bunch of psycho racists or Christians from America writing web novels.

AHAHAHHA, no it’s not. This is a Chinese thing. YouTube what teach 1t grade children. Nationalism and xenophobia are drilled into their heads. Dictator Xi make people take his little red book quiz on a frighten app. Stop the what aboutism. It’s a joke, millions of novels are written by Americans and it’s nothing like this.

I never said the Chinese government didn't brainwash it's citizens. The American government also brainwashes it's citizens starting in grade school into thinking America is number one, which it is not. The fact that someone criticizing racists and Christian zealots has triggered you shows that you're probably a republicunt trump supporter.

Lol found the brainwashed religious dumbass who I guarantee has never even read the bible. "wErE yOu RapeD BY A pRiEsT" glad you know a bunch of pedophiles are in the Christian church. Out of all people in the U.S. who believe in a religion, Christianity makes up around 73%. Most extremists in the U.S. are Christians dipshit. Also you obviously never learned how to properly extract information from what you read because the original topic is asking “Where does China get their sense of superiority from?”, I used Christians as an example in the U.S. because the largest group in the U.S. who believe they’re superior to others are Christians.

I think it's related to past glories. Before the fall of the Qing Dynasty, before the world entered the modern era, the ancient Chinese Dynasty was a very rich and advanced country in various aspects. Especially in culture & science.

This makes Chinese novelists tend to incorporate these 'past' aspects into their work as an idea, or perhaps a vision.

Well, anyway if you follow today's international news, they basically deserve to be arrogant.

A story about a lovecraftian (?) god who is the most powerful existence but doesn't know it.

Early on there's a big focus on side characters which has completely disappeared by now, it feels like the story doesn't really know what it wants to be or where it's going but it's still more interesting than most web novels.

The biggest problem is how repetitive it is and the constant nationalism but if you're good at noticing the repetition and skipping over it then it isn't a bad read.
