Can anyone please explain if NTR does actually occur?

There's this story where the mc is sent back to time with his team mates (due to his high potential and being young) his main mission is to save humanity from annihilation..his first step is to save the world tree roots (base for humanity)from being destroyed by a certain fish and also to kill one of his tea mate because he would kill people and take their runes for his own which somehow affected the strength of humanity when fighting outside influence...can someone remind me of this novel and I know my explanation ain't hitting the spot so please bare with me...

Even if he is the most talented the author nerf his progression to become weaker than a f#cking ICE beauty yeah xianxia shit...
