The Desolate Era莽荒纪 • Records of Barbarian Ji of the Primeval Era

When I mention the plot armor I will bring up the moment that had me stop caring for the novel be a large amount. During Books 20-30, roughly, the author heavily bashes into the head of the reader that if a cultivator fails their Daomerge, basically becoming eternal, that their souls will crumble away then will lead to their ultimate death and it has been displayed through other characters of how that happens. Normally I would be fine with this as it makes sense but during the MC's Daomerge, and due to it being 'oh-so supreme' compared to anybody else, he fails because the author basically tacked on some additional goals to jump through before getting strong. I can understand it to an extent but the author ran the MC up the wall and himself into a corner so much so that it seemed like the author lost the plot a bit. I will be honest and admit that I sped read through books after he failed the Merge since it was purposely written to be failed all for the sake of suspense; even when he found a method to save himself it felt so forced and lackluster that is truly put a dent on how I view the whole novel. Anyway, that is enough ranting.
