When a futuristic scientist is transported into the body of a young man in a fantasy world, his curiosity and desire for power push him to pursue magic. In a world without mercy, Leylin has no qualms about doing anything if it means benefits. He is cold, ruthless and calculating, never forming attachments that could impede his ultimate goal…

Honor? Who needs that… Hmmm… that guy seems too powerful for me to take on now… I better keep a low profile for now.

You want me to help you? What do I get out of it? Nothing? Bye.

Hmm… that guy looks like he might cause me problems in the future. Better kill him before he becomes a problem… Collapse

Incredibly overhyped book. Character's personality is inconsistent. Is "selfish" yet will go out of his way to help a chick he slept with once. He's "ruthless" yet he'll let someone off because they were nice to him once. He's "cruel" yet he'll go out of his way to help those who he knew for weeks (a few chapters for the reader). He's "evil" yet he'll teach some random kid techniques for made-up arbitrary reasons. It's like the author wanted to make an "evil" MC similar to Fang Yuan yet doesn't have half the balls, resulting in a disappointing MC. Not to mention the incredibly slow pace the book will take at times for things that can be glossed over, and no "world-building" is not an excuse. A story can coherently flow without grinding to a halt. Read up to 350 chapters, and while the power system and the world is interesting enough (though the Dark and Light mages are a bit cliche and Reverend Insanity approached it better) I'd say the book could have been much more interesting than what we got. The MC just holds the book back the most especially for a character he's meant to be, often feeling like a teenager the way he behaves and acts off emotion (Warlock is not excuse I mean when he's truly "thinking").

Reread my summary. His actions are contradictory to his "core-beliefs". The author is indecisive with MC's actions and it shows.

idk though ..the idea of selfish is doing whatever you want for your sake
which is a core principle that has been followed throughout
helping others doesnt go against the principle in any way
he helped others not for their sake but for his own

From all these comments above it seems they haven't read the full book.
I too have only around 750 chaps and there is no such thing as MC behaving out of character.
I left because MC feels detached to me at the time I was reading this book and I had read many ruthless action novels that time and I just got board, and left for some light fun haven't returned still, I can't complain about this book, there is still not many good books like this one.
If someone looking for some cold MC novels it's a choice worth considering wiseacre

No idea why this is so highly rated on this website. It's pretty god damn awful. Character progression is non existant and his A.I chip does everything for him. Novelupdates has good reviews about this book

Question, how evil is the protagonist? Is he just cruel to his enemies or does he also do like human testing on normal people? I might read if he's not like a total menace, since I can never find them likeable and a unlikeable mc is something I can't read.

He is about attaining power. I wouldn’t really label him as evil, but more chaotic neutral with the number 1 focus on making himself stronger. For the most part, he targets bad people, but that is because those are the ones most likely to cross him.

Thanks, I appreciate the answer. I'll probably read then, I tried Reverend Insanity and I know it's great and maybe even a masterpiece but just personally can't stand the evil protagonist even if that's the whole point but don't hate me for that haha

Well same for me too . I couldn't go far too, holding onto Reverend Insanity. Straight cruel, anything to become strong. Without good association with people n stuff what is point of even living long with power. Even if i try not minding cruelty it was just hard

look, this is the fourth or fifth time I've read Warlock of the Magus World, and really, every time I reread it, I realize it's not as fantastic a novel as I imagined the first time I read it, first the rank 7 force system It's a shit, these laws are extremely generic in all Chinese cultural novels, and it's impossible for you to have a good development. "for there to be greater dangers", and honestly, this harem and theses warlocks drive me crazy, God it really is a harem this shit, and I didn't realize the first time why I was so fascinated by the "newness" . honestly, I don't see warlock of the magus world any different beetween atg, or even a great xianxia like reverend insanity, they're all pretty much the same, with a different protagonist and a slightly different cultivation system that will ultimately have the same effect, the protagonist will give a super master punch and defeat everyone, as it was at the end of this novel

Who said it was harem it is a dark genre do you even know what that means. Majority says it is one of best novels till date. I myself have read it 4 times and every time I find it more praiseworthy.
There is a vast difference between atg and womw.
